Surge-type actuator has a corrosion-resistant composite master cylinder. Electric lockout keeps brakes from actuating when in reverse. Mount coupler attachments (sold separately) in 1 of 3 positions. Welds onto a 50-degree A-frame trailer.
Features:
Specs:
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the hydraulic actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes.
Electric Reverse Lockout
The electric reverse lockout on this trailer brake actuator is automatically activated when you shift your tow vehicle into reverse. The solenoid wires into your trailer connector - which connects to your tow vehicle - so that it can detect when you are in reverse. When your vehicle is in reverse, the solenoid ensures that the hydraulic actuator does not activate your trailer's brakes, thus allowing you to back up your rig. To use the lockout feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole trailer connector.
Adjustable Channel Design
The adjustable channel on this trailer brake actuator allows for ultimate versatility. Mount almost any type of coupler (sold separately) - from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment - to fit your specific application. In addition, the 3 mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler. Just place the coupler so that it matches the height of the ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you will be able to tow your trailer levelly.

Today, we're going to take a look at the Demco A-Frame Hydraulic Brake Actuator with the Reverse Lockout for this brakes, has a 12,500 lbs weight capacity. Now, this hydraulic surge-type actuator will activate your trailer brakes when the tow vehicle slows or stops. If you notice, on the front here, it has an adjustable channel with 3 different mounting positions for your coupler. Now, the couplers we do sell separately, if you need one. You can mount almost any type of coupler in here, from the standard ball coupler, to a lunette ring or a clevis attachment to fit your specific application. If you notice on the back, it has the electrical reverse lockout: This will let you back up without actuating your trailer brakes.
Basically, they put a solenoid into the master cylinder and this'll activate automatically when you shift into reverse. If you'll notice it has the 2-wire connection on it. One wire will go to your reverse light connect circuit, and the other will be to the ground. If you notice, it does have a nice, sturdy solenoid cover to protect it from any damage. Now, the master cylinder that the solenoid screws into is very durable and efficient. It's a glass-reinforced nylon construction, helps resist rust and corrosion, has a very large reservoir to provide increased capacity for the brake fluid, and if you notice up at the top here, they do use an automotive style diaphragm cap, which will create a completely enclosed system to help prevent contamination of your brake fluid. As I spin this around, the actuator portion slides in and out.
If you notice, on the inside right here, they have an acetal copolymer lining, and this will help provide a nice smooth operation as your actuator telescopes in and out. The breakaway, right up here, is all-included. This is a nice, heavy duty steel construction, has a nice primed finish. It is a weld-on insulation, and it is made in the USA. Again, the application for this, you can see, is a 50-degree A-frame trailer, and it is designed to use on trailers that have hydraulic disc brakes.
Gross towing weight capacity is 12,500 lbs. Maximum tongue weight capacity is 1,250 lbs. The model number on this is DM810 00:02:01, and I do want to give you the measurements on the channel itself. The overall height of it, from the very bottom to the top, is right at 8". The holes, if you measure center-to-center, are going to be right at 2", center-to-center, and the channel width, the inside width on it, is going to be right at 3". I think that should do it for the review of the Demco A-Frame Hydraulic Brake Actuator with the Reverse Lockout for this brake, and a 12,500 lbs weight capacity..

Will have to reposition jack and possibly propane tank mounts. This trailer originally had a vacuum brake booster. will update when installed.
Very well make Surge Brake Hitch. Excellent quality. etrailer always has what you need at a good price. Excellent company.
Heavy duty. Bigger and heavier in person. Feel confident with that trailer behind you. Worry about other things instead of your trailer.
Nice quality.
