Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Kwik-Slide Square-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. It is going to be a 10 bolt design. The base rails are going to provide necessary attachment points for your 5th wheel trailer hitch. The universal brackets are designed so that they fit most applications, and then the adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. The kit's going to include both rails, four brackets, two larger ones with more mounting options, and then the two smaller ones, and it's going to include all the hardware that you need, all the instructions, and the fish wire that you just thread onto the end of the bolt, and you can bring it through the appropriate hole as needed. It makes it a little bit easier to get the bolts in the right place. Some compatible hitches are going to be Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.

This does work with RBW Li'l Rocker Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch. It will not fit the Reese Elite Series Signature Series or Valley UBS hitches. It's made from a nice solid steel construction with a nice black powder coated finish on it, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. .

  • Installation Kit for RBW 5th Wheel 15k Li'l Rocker Hitch
To install your Li'l Rocker hitch, you'll need an installation kit for your truck that includes the base rails that install inside your truck bed as well as the brackets that install beneath it. I recommend the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP30035. This kit is confirmed to work with RBW Li'l Rocker hitches. This is a universal kit, so it will require some drilling. If you'd like to send me the year, make, and model of your truck, I'd be happy to check if there's...

  • How Do I Install Fifth Wheel Rails in The Bed of My Pickup
The rails in the bed of your pickup are installed so that the king pin will be just forward of the rear axle when hitched. The mounting location is vehicle specific and if you would like to provide your trucks year, make, model bed length and cab style I would be glad to get instructions to you and make a recommendation for an installation kit for your truck. When mounting a fifth wheel hitch the first measurement you use is the distance from the farthest back part of the bed, tailgate...

You can use the B and W Patriot hitch part # BWRVK3200 in the bed of your 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 short bed since this hitch is designed to fit industry standard rails which we do have fit options from other brands for your truck. The Reese rail kit part # RP30035 fits your truck and the Patriot so this would work great. You can't use the Companion hitches with the Turning Point pin boxes so that would not be the route to go. If your Reese Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch like the Kwik-Slide # RP30051 is not locking in the maneuver position then I first just recommend making sure that the legs are mounted squarely in the base rails. Sometimes when a sliding hitch doesn't lock into position it's simply a matter of the legs being out of line so that the slider gets bound up. • Is The Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel hitch The Bes Option For A 2024 Ford F-250 With OEM Puck System
I personally do not like the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th wheel trailer hitch in any of its forms. It provides zero cushioning, unlike most hitches currently on the market, which can give you a rough ride quality. I've also seen too many videos of these hitches failing and crumpling in on themselves to trust them. The connection point for the pin box is further back for more clearance but a sliding hitch would give you much more turning clearance to prevent the nose of the trailer from...

  • Are Installation Instructions Included with 5th Wheel Base Rail Kits
Yes, installation instructions are included with the fifth-wheel base rail kits we have available, such as the Reese Quick-Install Installation Kit # RP50082-58 which is what I recommend for your 2002 Ford F-250/350. I have also attached the installation instructions for this kit to this answer page that you can review. This base rail kit includes custom frame brackets that will use existing holes in the truck's frame to eliminate the need to drill into it and will also drastically cut...

  • Troubleshooting Reese Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch That Won't Lock Into Place
The legs of the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider # RP30051 have a spring loaded latch to lock the legs in place so you're either not getting it fully lined up in place for the legs to lock or the latch itself is broken. I would start by making sure the rails are clean and lubricated with some # RM-747 so that we can rule out any obstructions. If the rails aren't binding up then there is an internal issue with the latch and unfortunately you're looking at replacing the...

  • How To Reduce Noise With Pivoting Head of Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch Not Hooked to a Trailer
The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider part # RP30051 no longer has a lock out kit for the head available. I spoke to Reese and it was something they stopped manufacturing years ago. However, if you are experiencing a lot of noise then you want to make sure your rubber bumpers are not worn down. If you take a look at the exploded diagram of the hitch part 42 are the rubber bumpers that are meant to absorb the movement to reduce the noise. If they are worn out or missing...

  • Above vs Below-Bed Hitches and Recommended Hitch for 2018 Ford F-350 with 6.75-Foot Bed
Above-bed hitches are installed on rails that remain in the bed of your truck even when the hitch is not in use. With below-bed hitches, the installation equipment is installed beneath the truck bed, so the fifth wheel hitch simply drops into the pucks and locks in. Below-bed systems provide complete access to your truck bed when the hitch is removed—there are no rails that remain inside like there are for the above-bed systems. I've included a photo of each for you to check out. Because...
