Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. It is going to be a 10 bolt design. The base rails are going to provide necessary attachment points for your 5th wheel trailer hitch. The universal brackets are designed so that they fit most applications, and then the adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. The kit's going to include both rails, four brackets, two larger ones with more mounting options, and then the two smaller ones, and it's going to include all the hardware that you need, all the instructions, and the fish wire that you just thread onto the end of the bolt, and you can bring it through the appropriate hole as needed. It makes it a little bit easier to get the bolts in the right place. Some compatible hitches are going to be Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.

This does work with RBW Li'l Rocker Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch. It will not fit the Reese Elite Series Signature Series or Valley UBS hitches. It's made from a nice solid steel construction with a nice black powder coated finish on it, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. .

  • Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit for a 2003 Ram 2500 and a Husky Slider 5th Wheel Hitch
We do have a semi-custom base rail installation kit for your 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 long bed, however, the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Install Kit, # RP30035-023, that you referenced will not fit in your truck. This kit was designed for newer model Ram 1500 trucks. Instead, you will want to install the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Install Kit, # RP30035-023, if your truck has overload springs, or # RP30035-186 if your truck does not have the overload springs. The base rails that are...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Base Rail for Valley 7054 Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch
For your Valley 7054 5th Wheel Hitch you will just need industry standard base rails. I recommend using a custom fit base rail kit for your 2004 Ram 2500 short bed. I recommend the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Dodge Ram # RP30035-023. The brackets are a custom fit for your frame.

  • Dimension for Installing Fifth Wheel Rail Kit in 2003 Dodge Ram Short Bed
The dimension you are looking for is 26-5/16 inches when installing the Reese Universal Rail kit part # RP30035-023. This is the recommended distance Reese recommends between the rear rail edge of the kit and the rear edge of your truck's bed. You'll then use the front legs of your fifth wheel hitch to place the front rail.

For your 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 short bed and Draw-Tite 5th wheel hitch I recommend semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-023. The L-brackets with this kit are much more compatible with suspension enhancement products when compared to custom brackets that take up more space on the truck frame. Reese Replacement Hardware Kit # RP30074F is not a complete 5th wheel installation kit, just a replacement hardware kit. For an industry-standard 5th wheel hitch base rail installation kit confirmed to fit your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega cab, I recommend the custom-fit kit # RP50140-58 from Reese. This kit will take less time to install than a semi-custom kit like # RP30035-023, which requires frame drilling. This kit includes industry-standard rails (ISRs), under-bed brackets and all hardware...

  • 5th Wheel Installation Kit Recommendations for a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500
I have a universal fifth wheel installation kit I can recommend for your 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, but Husky has not confirmed the # HT30563 for your vehicle so I can not safely recommend it for you. Instead I would recommend the Reese Install Kit part # RP30035-023, or if you only need the brackets without the rails you would want part # RP30035. For a simpler install that would install quicker and minimize drilling you would want the part # RP50040-58 or for without rails part # RP50040.

  • Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2013 Nissan Titan Towing Trailer w Reese Revolution Pin Box
Yes, that is the beautiful thing about the Reese Revolution and Sidewinder pin boxes is that they can work on beds as short as your 5-1/2 foot bed. Like you mentioned, you will need a stationary hitch since there would be no need for a slider hitch. For that I would recommend the Reese 16k fifth wheel hitch part # RP30047. This has an excellent jaw system that provides great king pin contact and works well with Revolution pin boxes. Check out the review video I attached for more info. For...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for Use with Reese Revolution on Fifth Wheel Trailer
Since your trailer has a Reese Revolution pin box (which is the best way setup for a truck with as short of a bed as you have), you need a fixed hitch that attaches to a rail kit in four places. The Companion style hitch like you mentioned which attaches through the gooseneck ball shank cannot be used with the Revolution pin boxes. The Reese Select Plus # RP30081 that you referenced would be a great choice but you'd need a rail kit installed in the bed of your truck. If you can get me...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Solutions for a 2011 Ford F-150 Super Crew with a 5-1/2 ft Bed
There is a way to pull a fifth wheel trailer with a truck bed that is shorter than 6 feet like your 2011 Ford F-150 Super Crew. The clearance solution for trucks with such short beds is to install a sidewinder on the pin box of your trailer. Once installed you would have enough clearance to pull a fifth wheel trailer and make sharp turns. However, you will still need to plug some measurements in to a formula to be absolutely certain. To start, the center of the hitch pin jaws will be...

  • Comparing the B&W Patriot 16K, Curt A16, and Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitches
The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3200, Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16120, and Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 all have fully articulating hitch heads so there won't be much of a difference in hitching/unhitching at an angle. I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16120 over the others for a few different reasons. The first of which is that the A16 has 1" thick, dual interlocking jaws which will do a phenomenal job of reducing...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for Replacing RBW Lil Rocker
The Lil Rocker fifth wheel hitch you have is designed to fit the same industry standard fifth wheel rails as the current hitches made so we have several hitches that would work. The Reese Hitch part # RP30047 would be a great option. It has a 16k capacity and has a great jaw design that will hold the king pin of your trailer tightly for a smooth towing experience.

  • Using the Lippert Turning Point Pin Box with Reese 5th Wheel Hitch On a 2019 Ram 3500 with RamBoxes
If your Grand Design Reflections 150 comes with a Lippert Turning Point Pin Box then there will be no need for a Reese Sidewinder as these both serve the same purpose which is to move the pivot point therefore making for more turning clearance. The only thing you would need is a fixed 5th wheel hitch and for that I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 because of the dual locking jaws which form a tight grip on the kingpin therefore making for a smooth ride. This Reese...

  • How To Install The Reese Replacement Spring, # 30776, On A Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch
Usually, these springs should not have to be replaced unless they are damaged. You will want to check the Reese Replacement Spring, # 30776, and make sure it is not damaged and check the Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch, # RP30047, to make sure that there is no other damage to the hitch. The springs are located in the head assembly. One goes from one side of the hitch jaws to the other side. The long side of the spring (hook furthest from the coils) attaches to a pivot point on the flat rod...
