Secure, Two-Piece Jaw

Q24 Two-Piece Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Q24 Color Indicator System

360-Degree Pivot

Curt's unique spherical axial bearing provides a durable pivot point that allows easy, 360-degree movement of the hitch head. This ball joint is designed for smooth, quiet operation with less clunking and chucking.

Video Transcript for What to Know About the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Base Rails

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.

We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.

This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.

The Curt Custom, No-Drill Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit # C16419 will install on the frame rails of your 2004 Dodge Ram with out having to drill. If you are wanting to install the side brackets and in-bed rails, I recommend the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16419-204. The in-bed rails will require you to drill through the bed for each of the mounting bolts.

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kit for a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Long Bed
Slider hitches can slide back towards the tailgate of the truck which allows for more clearance between the trailer and the truck cab when making turns. Short bed trucks pretty much require a slider for most 5th wheel towing applications because the distance between the centerline of the hitch and the back of the truck cab is so short. If you have a long bed truck then you don't have to worry about clearance and you can use a fixed 5th wheel hitch. For your 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 long bed...

When installing a base rail kit for 5th wheel towing there are specific places the brackets need to go, which can be found in the installation instructions. If you don't already have base rails I recommend checking out the following: - Universal # BWRVR3200 - Custom # C16419-204 The universal rails are less expensive but they do require drilling into your vehicle frame, whereas the custom brackets bolt right up to existing holes so the installation is much less labor intensive. Hey Steve, so between the Curt # C16265 and the Pullrite # PUL36ZR I'd go wit the Curt but not the Q25. I'd go with the A25 # C24FR, which is basically the same thing as the Q25 but does not require the # C88KR adapter. Only the Curt is going to work out of the box with rotating pin boxes so the Pullrite would need a wedge like # RP99FR or # MR74ZR to work with a rotating pin box, but you'd have to let me know what rotating pin box you have to get you the correct wedge.
