Secure, Two-Piece Jaw

Q24 Two-Piece Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Q24 Color Indicator System

360-Degree Pivot

Curt's unique spherical axial bearing provides a durable pivot point that allows easy, 360-degree movement of the hitch head. This ball joint is designed for smooth, quiet operation with less clunking and chucking.

Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt Q25 dual jaw fifth wheel trailer hitch, has a 25,000 pound weight capacity. Now this fifth wheel hitch will mount in your truck bed, so that you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. This one has a nice two jaw locking system, which provides a nice 360 degree jaw to king pin contact. Gives you less rattle, more security than the slide bar models. Also, this offers a unique spherical axial bearing, which allows easy pivoting of the hitch head. It will give you a smooth 360 degree movement, not just front to back and side to side tilting.

It does offer built cushioning to help absorb any road shock. Does have three loop points, there's one right here for the bearing. There's one over here for the jaw and then one over here for the other jaw. They're very easy to access to put your grease fit on. Now this does also offer a four inch hitch height adjustment. Now hitch height is critical because when you hook up to your trailer, you want to be able to tow as level as possible.

When you go to mount this cross member to the legs, there's three rows of holes on this cross member. That'll allow you to put it in at your hitch height you need, then there's a four inch range from 13 inches to 17 inches. That's measured, the hitch height is from the truck bed to the top of this hitch head. Now the other main feature on this, it does use a three point indicator system, which is color coded. That'll tell you if the hitch is ready to uncouple, couple, or tow.

To show you that I'm going to have to rotate this. Let me just swing this around. Now that we got it swung around, I just want to point to that's where you're going to be looking. If you notice right there in that hole, it's showing green right now. When it's showing green, that means the jaws are locked closed, it's safe to tow. If I go to open it with the handle here, when I open the jaw, now you can look in there, and it'll show yellow.

Yellow means the jaws are ready to couple, it's safe to back your truck into trailer. Now if it does happen to show red, there is a red color. That'll mean the jaws are locked open, it's safe to pull the truck away, but you don't want to couple when it's in red. Now it does have this nice lockable handle right here, which is a short throw single handle operation. It does self reset to the ready to couple position after uncoupling. Now the other thing I wanted to show you while we got it turned around here, is these two pins and clips right here. If you pull these clips out, pull the pins out, that makes it very easy to remove the head right here. That two pin head removal is easy for one person to remove the hitch from the truck, makes it lighter by taking apart in pieces. Now I'm going to swing this back around. Now that we got it spun around. If you notice I have up front here, it does include this plastic lube plate. This'll go onto your king pin of your trailer, helps it glide smoothly into the hitch during hook up. It'll also keep your head from getting any damage to it. If you'll also notice, there's' the base rail mounting pins and clips, that will go in here to attach your legs to the rails. Now this is a simple installation. It does require base rails and an installation kit. Those are sold separately on our website. Now for this video I've just installed it on this display just to show you what it looks like when it's installed. But to install it, it does require the base rails and you can find those by going onto our website putting in your year and model vehicle and it'll show you the options for your application. This hitch is compatible and it will work with BMW, Curt, DEMCO, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley above bed base rails. This is a nice sturdy steel construction, has a nice durable carbate powder coat finish to it. the specs on this, the gross towing weight capacity again that's 25,000 pounds. The vertical load limit is 6,250 pounds and I'd mention the hitch height you can adjust is from 13 inches to 17 inches. Now what I am going to demonstrate is how this hitch head will work. I'm just going to grab here, this is a replica of what a king pin would look like on your trailer. Basically, if you remember we open these up, it's showing yellow here. Yellow means the jaws are ready to couple. You can see dual jaws are open. When you back up to the trailer, let me show you first what you want to do, is take your lube plate I had mentioned and just put that onto your king pin. Just a very tight fit here. There we go and make sure it's pushed down all the way on your king pin. Once that's installed, then you'll go to hook up and you'll notice as it slides back into the dual jaws. You'll see it once it gets all the way back, you'll notice you'll hear the click. The jaws completely go around. The handle slides over, if you look. What's nice about this color indicator, you can see this from the cab. These are visible from the cab. If you turn around, see it green that means the jaws are locked around the king pin and your safe to tow. All you do is flip that up, put the pin and clip in there and that locks the handle from keeping it to open. But that should do it for the review on the Curt Q25 dual jaw fifth wheel trailer hitch, with the 25,000 pound weight capacity.

The Curt 5th wheel rail and bracket kit # C16424-204 and the Reese # RP50026-58 are both confirmed to fit your 2011 Ford F-250. You will still need to drill into your bed to attach the rails, but the locations are easy to determine base on the bracket location. The Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package part # C16049 comes with everything that you need to install on a 2017 Ram 3500 assuming you have the factory in-bed puck system (see photo). The hitch will drop into the pucks and you will then turn and lock the handles in place to secure it but there is no other hardware required for this. The puck system is a set of five holes in the truck bed, four on the perimeter and one in the center which would be pretty apparent if...

  • Option for Raising Nose of Momentum 3975 Wheel Trailer Towed by 2019 Ford F-350
4 inches of clearance between the bed rails of your truck and the overhang of the 2020 Momentum 397 is the very minimum amount of clearance most refer to as safe. So strictly in that regard you aren't in a terrible position. That said, 6 inches is a much more ideal amount of clearance to have and it looks like your trailer might be a little nose low so it could stand to be raised in the front. Since pin box replacements aren't really designed for offering varying height setting you'd...

  • Comparing the Curt Q25 to the Curt A25 5th Wheel Hitch
The Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # C16180 is the newer model of the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # C16265. The A25 has an interlocking dual jaw for increased security. The A25 also has built in grease zerk fittings to make maintenance just a little easier. It also has a 1 pin head removal compared to the 2 pin option of the Q25. They are both nice 5th wheel hitches, but the A25 has those couple of really nice features as an upgrade....

  • Differences Between Above and Under Bed Fifth Wheel Hitch Mounts for 2020 Ford F350
There are two ways to install a fifth wheel hitch on a pick up truck. One would be to use standard bed-mounted rails. Brackets are mounted to the truck frame with the bed rails sitting directly above. Holes are drilled down through the truck bed to correspond with holes in the brackets bolted to the frame, allowing the bed rails to be securely bolted down. The rails have slots in them that allow the hitch to be installed and removed pretty conveniently. The problem here is that once the...

On the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # C16265 and previous question that references O-ring size. The needed diameter is 31.5 mm, for thickness, an O-ring of about 2 or 3mm is sufficient. Its exact thickness is not crucial as it is not required for creating a seal but rather in place for purpose of creating a stop location. Within the "INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS" for the Q25 (current online copy is linked below) page 6 in text under figure 9, it states "...The O-ring retainer stop...

  • Can a 20K 5th Wheel Hitch be Used to Tow a 20K Toy Hauler
Great question! Although a 5th wheel hitch rated for 20K can tow up to 20K we highly recommend using a 5th wheel hitch that is rated about 1K - 2K over the GVWR of your 5th wheel trailer. This gives you a safety margin and will help keep your hitch from prematurely wearing down from normal use. The only time you would be able to safely use the 20K hitch is if you didn't load your trailer up to the 20K capacity. If your toy hauler is 20K then I recommend going with either the B&W Companion...

The Curt Rota-Flex 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC328329 is not compatible with a Curt E-Series or Q-Series fifth wheel hitch like your # C16265. The design of the Rota Flex will actually wear down the head of these hitches and end up breaking them. You'll want to immediately stop using the two together to avoid any chance of damage going forward and swap out either the hitch or pin box.
