How to Connect 20 Pound Propane Tank to Champion 100165 Dual Fuel Generator

Question:

Need to know if I can run a 100# propane cylinder to my Champion Duel Fuel Generator, M#100165, 9275/8400 watts or 7500 watts continuous if I swap out the regulator and do you sell them? Owners manual says I can only run a 20 to 30# tank with the supplied regulator. Also any fittings I might need?

To connect your Champion #100165 Dual Fuel generator to a 100 pound propane tank, the manufacturer states that "The generator can be attached a larger propane tank. The generator requires ½ PSI with a flow rate of 152,000 BTU/hr. when under maximum load. The connection on the front panel is a male 3/8" SAE flare fitting using 5/8” 18 UNF threads."

To accomplish this you will need three parts; a cylinder connector (green knob) a propane regulator oriented verticle or horizontal, and a connector hose. Finally the regulator connections on each side will require JR Products # 37207-30025 propane thread sealant tape.

For the green knob order JR Products # 37207-30285 Propane Cylinder Connector.

For the regulator order JR Products # 37207-30385 Horizontal Gas Regulator for horizontal orientation, and a 225,000 BTU capacity

For the hose order JR Products # 37207-31405 Propane Hose. This is a premium 30" rubber hose.

Be sure to use the yellow propane tape as the white tape for water connections is not good enough. On first use be sure to use soapy water on all joints to check for leaks.
