Tires for a Tandem Axle Gooseneck Trailer with 25,900 lb GVWR

Question:

Im buying a dual tandem gooseneck trailer with a GVWR of 25,900 lbs. and comes with ST235/80 R-16 Load Range E Dual tires. I have the option to upgrade to ST215/75 R-17.5 LR-H Dual or ST235/85 R-16 LR-G Dual tires. Which set of tires are needed to haul the trailer at max weight?

Both a 215/75R17.5 tire, like the Provider Load Range H # TTWP15175, and the ST235/85R16 tire, like the Provider Load Range G # TTWPRG235R16, will be rated well above what you are needing for your gooseneck GVWR of 25,900 lbs. In fact, our Taskmaster Provider ST235/80R16 # TTWTRTM2358016E has a load range of E which means it is rated at 3,080 lbs when used as a dual tire. If you count 4 of these per axle that gives your tires a weight capacity of 24,640 lbs which should still be sufficient when you take into account that the tongue weight of your gooseneck trailer won't be on the trailer axles.

Basically, any size will work but if you are wanting to upgrade I recommend the ST235/85R16 because that is more of a common trailer wheel size.
