Activating 12 Volt Accessory Circuit of 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 7-Way

Updated 06/24/2019 | Published 06/21/2019

Question:

So I discovered no power at my 12v pin on my 7way plug on truck. After some research discovered it was a fuse that is not installed at factory in fuse location 30 trailer tow which is supposed to be a 30amp mini fuse. So I checked and sure enough nothing there. Got a fuse from dealer and still no power. I used my power prove then to supply power at the 7way pin from the fuse location and nothing. So I removed the top section of the power distribution center and discovered no wiring or terminal was present for that fuse location. So, is this an option at factory or did my truck just not get assembled correctly. Ive owned it since new.

It's possible your truck is missing wiring but we aren't as well-versed in the wiring setups for every vehicle. I'd say though that it's very likely your truck is an anomaly and is missing wiring as that circuit is normally active on Ram trucks like your 2014 Ram 2500. Instead of dealing with the headache of trying to track down all of the possible missing wiring I have a better solution to activate this circuit.

Use a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) through a breaker like part # 9510 from the 12 volt pin of your 7-way (1:00 pin) to the positive post of the battery and you will have bypassed the headache of trying to deal with the factory wiring setup.
