Is the Ground Wire Needed for the Square LED Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light to Work
Question:
I bought the mcl36ab clearance lights from you. I noticed there are 2 wires coming out the back. I thought they were the same type as on my other trailor but the clearance lights on it have only one wire coming out the back. Do I need to use the white ground wire on the LED lights when I install them on my 2nd trailor?

Expert Reply:
Yes, the second wire will need to be grounded to complete the circuit for the LED Clearance Light, # MCL36AB.
If your trailer connector has a ground wire that is connected to the trailer frame at the front of the trailer, you will be able to just secure the ring terminal on the LED trailer clearance light, # MCL36AB, to the trailer frame with the light mounting bolt or a self tapping screw (not included).
If your trailer connector does not have a ground attached to the trailer frame you will need to find the common ground wire for trailer lighting and splice the wire from the clearance light into that wire.
Once you have the light properly grounded, you will need to splice the black wire into the running light circuit on your trailer.
