The first thing you will need to do is locate the slide-out relay control and unplug the wiring harness from the controller. Then find the slide-out motor. On the back side of the motor there should be a brake lever. Turn it counter-clockwise to the release position.

The room will now be able to move. In order to move it in or out use an adjustable wrench on the drive shaft cross tube to crank the room in or out as needed. Re-engage the brake lever after moving the room in or out.

If your particular set up does not work this way then your best option is to take it to an authorized Fleetwood dealer with a service center so they can diagnose and fix the motor problem.

I have a ‘99 EX 30G and appreciate your answer for the main slide out. But the bedroom seems totally inaccessible unless you first take out the mattress!!! Second unscrew and remove the large hinged mattress support plywood board!!! Third remove the access panel to get to the rack a pinion mechanism!!!!! Otherwise you cannot access the rack and pinion. Correct? Cg in Utah

@CurtisE That does sound correct, Curtis. While I cannot say if there is any easier way to access the slide mechanism the steps you described are very common in bedroom slide outs depending on the manufacturer and the age of the camper.

@BudM Thank you very much for your reply! I really like this older model fifth wheel, but this is the only thing that has bugged me, is the inaccessibility to the slide out mechanism. Thank you again.
