Recommendation for Upgrading to Larger Tires from 5.30-12 Tires on Trailer
Question:
Hello I have a coleman redwood 1999 popup trailer. The current tire size is 5.30-12. I was wondering if I could go with a slightly larger size. Im planning to buy from you guys a tire and wheel combo. Thanks

As long as you have the needed wheel well and trailer frame clearance, there is no reason that you couldn't go to a larger tire size from your existing 5.30-12 tires.
The next size up from what you have is going to be with an ST175/80-13 size tire. This tire size will have an overall diameter of 24 inches and a width of 6.9 inches. This is compared to the 21.9 inch diameter and 5.6 inch width of your existing 5.30-12 tires, which means that the top of the tire will be about 1 inch closer to the underside of your fender and about 0.65 inches closer to the trailer frame.
If you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern on your current wheels, I recommend the Provider ST175/80R13 Radial Tire w/ 13 Inch White Wheel # TA43RR. This is a great radial tire with a maximum load of 1,360 pounds at 50 psi and an excellent speed rating of 81 mph. A really nice thing about this particular tire and wheel combo is that it comes not only with a 2-year limited warranty but also 2 years of complimentary roadside assistance. If your trailer has a flat tire, you can simply call the helpline and a technician will come change out the flat; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you have a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern instead, I recommend looking at the Kenda Loadstar # AM3S120. This radial tire features the same maximum load and speed rating as the above mentioned Provider tire.

Hello, I came across the your reply to "Recommendation for Upgrading to Larger Tires from 5.30-12 Tires on Trailer". I have a DK2 5x7 Utility Trailer. I am considering buying the spare tire kit but also contemplating upgrading the tires if possible. We're looking to do more camping and the trailer is great for hauling all the camping gear. Wondered if bigger tires would provide better ride especially over roads not routinely maintained any recommendations you guys have?
