Parts Needed to Install Trailer Wiring on 2000 Ford F-150  

Question:

Hi, Im confused about this part . You indicate it is for the factory towing package . Other sites say same part number is a direct plug into the taillight system without the towing package. Is there another part number Im missing ? It for a 2000 Ford F-150 Lightning without factory towing. I would like to order from you today,-hitch assembly and correct wiring harness . Thanks-

Since your 2000 Ford F-150 Lightning does not have the factory tow package you'd need to go a different route for trailer wiring. You'd want to start with the part # 118344 for a 4-way wiring harness.

Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.

If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.

Then for a hitch we have the Curt # C14355 which is a confirmed fit for your 2000 Ford F-150 Lightning.
