J-Style Kayak Carrier Recommendation for a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek
Question:
I am considering the purchase of a Subaru Crosstrek 2016 with factory-installed rails and crossbars. Im concerned about the width of the crossbars and their flared shape where they attach to the rails, as Im looking to carry two kayaks 9.5 feet long, 29 inches wide each. Any ideas as to how to make this work? Id prefer J-type kayak racks rather than a stacker, if possible. Any advice appreciated on both crossbars factory-installed vs other and kayak carriers for two kayaks? It would be a deal-breaker for the Crosstrek if this doesnt easily work. Thanks for your time.

I checked with Thule and their Thule Hull a Port part # TH834 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and would be a great option for carrying both of your kayaks.
I attached a review video for the carrier for you to check out as well.
You would just need to check the owners manual of the Crosstrek to determine it's roof weight capacity and be sure the weight of your kayaks does not exceed this figure.
