The ball platform locks to the ball mount with an internal lock. When you unlock the platform you can slide it up or down to adjust the ball height. You can also slide the platform off, reverse it, and slide it back on to change ball sizes.
The built-in anti-rattle balls prevent the shank from rattling when the ball mount isn't hooked up to a trailer, preventing movement that could cause noise and wear.

This ball mount offers two distinguishing features that provide a smooth towing experience. First, a threaded, stainless steel hitch pin weaves securely through a threaded hole in the ball mount. This innovation pulls the ball mount to the receiver tube and eliminates the horizontal (left-to-right) gap that leads to rattling. The greaseless AlumiBall is a solid aluminum hitch ball topped with a nylon cap. The cap enables the coupler to rotate easily around the ball. This prevents the coupler from getting stuck during turns and makes the towing experience smoother. It also prevents greasy messes and does not require the purchase of lubricants. Nylon cap is replaceable.
