The 5th Airborne Sidewinder premium fifth wheel pin box coupler has been designed specifically for short-bed pickups. The Sidewinder makes it possible to make 90-degree turns without exiting the truck, throwing a switch or even pushing a button. The 5th Airborne fifth wheel coupler air spring and shock absorber cushions the impact on the truck and trailer, providing a much more comfortable fifth wheel towing experience.   • Length of Sidewinder arm: 22"
  • Simply bolts onto the fifth wheel trailer pin box
  • Pre-assembled for quick and easy installation

  • Cushions shock with adjustable air spring and shock absorber:
    • Reduces longitudinal shock (chucking) by nearly 60%

Clearance Formula:
Use the formula below to ensure there will be enough space between your truck cab and trailer when executing a 90-degree turn.

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A= Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to truck cab
B= Length of Sidewinder arm (19.5K = 22")
C= Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)

For example: If the distance from the center of the hitch to the cab is 36", 36" + 22" = 58". If your fifth wheel trailer is 102" wide, take half (51"), then plug in: 58" - 51" = 7" of clearance.

Custom Wedges: The included universal wedge works great on preventing the king pin from rotating in most fifth wheel hitches. However, Holland and PullRite hitches will require a custom wedge.



Hitch Problems: The Sidewinder models will work well with all fifth wheel hitches, except for the Curt Q5 and the B&W Companion. The Curt Q5 cushioning allows too much movement for the Sidewinder to operate properly. The B&W hitch requires two additional bolts (1/2", grade 5) to be installed at the rear most support to keep the hitch from rotating. Check with B&W about warranty regulations.
