Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Toyota Tundra

Today we will be installing part number 13198, a hitch from Curt. This is a 2008 Toyota Tundra. Our first step is going to be removing the angle bracket on the inside of your bumper support and underneath the rear frame of the truck. There are a total of four bolts that need to be removed. You can see our angle bracket has been removed. We had two bolts that came from the outside of the frame rail and then two bolts that went up in to the bottom of the frame rail. Now we are going to repeat these same steps on the passenger side. It is identical to the driver side. Now that we have our brackets removed on both sides, I would like to go ahead and take the opportunity to spray the threads just to flush them out a little bit. I am going to do that on both sides. Now is a good time to get a friend or a helping hand to help you hold the hitch while you put it in place. 0:55

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Toyota Tundra

Today on this 2010 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, we are going to install part number 41935 from Draw-Tite. Alright, the hitch is going to mount up in the same exact place where the angle iron bracket is. So that is going to have to be removed and the hitch is going up in the same place as the existing fasteners that are already there. Further forward on the vehicle frame, these two holes that are already threaded in the frame, the hitch will use those to mount up to also. It is identical on both side. Right now we are looking at the passenger side of the vehicle. Alright, with the two bolt holes on the side of the frame it is a good idea to go ahead and spray them down a couple of times with WD-40, just to clean out some of the grit in there. Even though this is a brand new vehicle, there is sand there on the other side. So, do not ask me how it got there but there was. We will just clean them out and run a bolt in to make sure everything starts OK. On older vehicles, you will probably have to clean these out a little bit more for anything that has possibly happened in later years. We just want to make sure that the threads are good before we let the bolts in with the hitch. 1:17

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Toyota Tundra

Today we are going to install part number 75527 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this 2-inch receiver hitch on a 2007 Toyota Tundra. Okay, the hitch is going to mount up in this spot right here, where you see this L-shape bracket. There are four bolts going through here. All these bolts come out, and then the bracket comes off. And then also the hitch will install on the bumper bracket below, in the holes down here. And it is going to be identical on the passengers side and the drivers side. Okay, we have got that bracket off go ahead and do the same thing to the other side.

  • Is a Towing Bumper on a 2006 Toyota Tundra Considered a Factory Hitch
  • What you describe is a towing bumper, but not a factory hitch. A towing bumper is usually limited to a 3500 lb towing / 350 lb tongue weight, but you should verify this by checking your owners manual. With a towing bumper, your trailer ball will be at a set height, which may or may not be compatible with the height of your trailer coupler. Having the trailer towing so that it is level is an important factor in helping to prevent trailer sway. If you can install a trailer ball into the bumper

  • As far as weight capacity and compatibility, I do not have any concerns. In order to determine if the bike will clear the rear of the truck you will need to measure the width of the bike at the widest point (probably the handle bars, end to end). Divide by 2 to get half the width of the bike. Take this measurement and subtract it from 20 inches. The measurement you come up with will be how close to the truck the bike will be from the center of the track. As long as the distance from the h
