Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Toyota Sienna - Curt

Today on our 2016 Toyota Sienna, we're going to take a look at, and also show you how to install the Curt custom-fit class two trailer hitch receiver. This offers the inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter opening. It's part number is C12065. Here's the hitch once we have installed. Got a rectangular shape cross tube that's going to meet here at the middle at our inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter opening. This is a class two hitch so when it comes to towing, bike racks, cargo carriers, it's a really good hitch for those purposes. You can see our flush reinforcement collar around the end, it's going to give us a little bit more durability here and that. We'll have a half inch pinhole that's going to be for securing all of our items.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2014 Toyota Sienna - Draw-Tite

Which is going to be really good for just about any need you might have with it, towing, whether you want to move some bikes around with your bike rack or maybe cargo carrier application.

It's got kind of a flush front and a nice and flat, whereas when we move to the draw type, we got a little bit more of a rounded reinforcement collar and then the class 2 is more of a strap that's been welded around the end to give us a little bit of additional reinforcement.

Toyota Sienna Trailer Hitch Questions and Answers

  • Trailer Hitch Fits for 2017 Toyota Sienna
  • Sometimes a trailer hitch will fit multiple model years of a vehicle but other times one model year's difference can mean it won't. Curt Class II hitch # C12065 fits various versions of the 2004 through 2016 Toyota Sienna. However this hitch is not a confirmed fit on the 2017 model year. For the 2017, the 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch that is confirmed to fit is Draw-Tite # 36513. Curt offers only a 2-inch Class III hitch for the 2017 Sienna, part # C13105. I confirmed this directly with...

For a 2-5/16 inch ball I recommend # C40007. And for a hitch pin I recommend the classic # PC3. If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level,...

  • I can help you choose a trailer hitch to use with the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Rack # TH9027 on your 2015 Toyota Sienna. Since the Apex Swing is designed to only fit trailer hitches with 2 inch receivers, our options are narrowed down to the Draw-Tite Class III # 75237 and the Curt Class III # C13105. The Class II hitches available for your Sienna only have 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers. Between the Curt and Draw-Tite Class III hitches, I recommend going with the Curt # C13105 because it...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2015 Toyota Sienna
  • Yes, there are several trailer hitches that will fit your 2015 Toyota Sienna Limited AWD. The hitch I recommend is the Curt Class III # C13105. It will have a 350 pound tongue weight which will be just fine for carrying a bike rack like the Swagman Trailhead # S63360 that has a 3-inch rise in the shank. I included a link to all the trailer hitches that will fit your 2015 Toyota Sienna (Class II and III) along with a couple installation videos and informative article.

  • Trailer Hitch, Wiring, Transmission and Power Steering Coolers for a 2015 Toyota Sienna
  • It is just the hitch that is capable of the higher capacity when using weight distribution. Some vehicles will have a weight carrying capacity and a weight distribution capacity. It doesn't sound like your 2015 Toyota Sienna has a weight distribution capacity so you would be limited to the 3,500 pounds specified for the vehicle. Also you will want to check the owners manual because Toyota may require additional items to meet the max capacity including a transmission cooler and/or power...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2015 Toyota Sienna
  • For your 2015 Toyota Sienna the Draw Tite hitch part # 75237 would be what you would want. This hitch has plenty of capacity, is priced great and is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. The round crosstube would be it less visible than a square tube hitch as well. I attached an install video for you to check out too. For trailer wiring you would need the part # 118648 which I attached an install video for as well.

  • Does the Rear Appearance Panel of a 2014 Toyota Sienna Get Trimmed When Curt Hitch is Installed
  • The underbody panel of your 2014 Toyota Sienna will need to get trimmed to install the Curt Hitch part # C13105 that you referenced. If you check out the installation instructions and the install video I attached you will see more info on how it gets trimmed. Leaving the panel off would be an option, it wouldn't cause any corrosion or have any undesired effect as this is just an appearance panel.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Toyota Sienna SE
  • Both the Curt Hitch part # C13105 and the Draw-Tite part # 75237 will fit pretty tight to the rear of your 2014 Toyota Sienna. I attached an install pic of both hitches to show you that they both hitches will basically be just as tight. The e-coating is not that new. I will say that if you stripped the e-coat from the hitch, had it galvanized and then powdercoated it would be very corrosion resistant. Is that excessive? Maybe, but it should work.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2014 Toyota Sienna Limited AWD
  • Your 2014 Toyota Sienna can be fitted with either of two sizes/classes of trailer hitch, either a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class II type or a 2-inch Class III type that offers higher capacity. Since the costs between the two types are so close, and since a 2-inch hitch offers better flexibility with accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers, I suggest the Curt # C13105. This hitch's installation is shown in the linked video, and the written instructions as well as two helpful installation...

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2014 Toyota Sienna to Carry Bikes
  • The hitches for the 2014 Toyota Sienna that are going to be the strongest and most durable are the Class III hitches. Out of the Class III options, the Curt hitches, such as # C13105, have been doing well in terms of powder coating and corrosion resistance. Even the inner part of the cross tube is coated. The Class III hitches also have a 2 inch receiver which is going to afford you many options for bike racks, more so than a Class I or II hitch would. Based on the ride height of...

  • Can Water/Snow Get Above Trimmed Splash Guard With Trailer Hitch Installed on 2014 Toyota Sienna
  • The appearance panel that needs to be trimmed to install Curt trailer hitch # C13105 on your 2014 Toyota Sienna does have drain holes so snow, rain, and road grime can drain out. It would be easy to save the part that gets trimmed and then use something like JB Weld to put it back into place (though part of it will still need to be trimmed away) and that will help as well. We have not had customers complain about moisture getting up there or causing any problems. If you plan on doing...

  • Recommended Equipment Needed for Towing 3200lb Boat With a 2014 Toyota Sienna
  • As a first step, I'd recommend confirming the weight of the boat and the trailer, as well as the fully loaded and ready to tow trailer tongue weight (see linked article.) Your Sienna is capable of towing 3500lbs, so you'll want to be sure the combined weight of the boat and trailer doesn't exceed that amount. The Curt Class III hitch you looked at, part # C13105 would be an excellent choice. Any time the weight of the trailer is greater than half the weight of the vehicle, using...

  • Draw Tite or Curt Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Toyota Sienna
  • For your 2014 Toyota Sienna the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75237 that you referenced has a higher towing capacity at 675 lbs tongue weight and 4,500 lbs total trailer weight. Both of these hitches install the exact same. The time differences are due to that being the estimate either brand gave. Draw Tite just happened to be a bit more conservative than Curt with the install time. Unless you really like the look of the Curt I would go with the Draw Tite as it has a higher capacity and very...

  • Choosing Between Thule, Yakima and Softride Hitch-Mount Bike Racks for 2014 Toyota Sienna
  • When we installed Curt Class III hitch # C13105 on the 2014 Toyota Sienna we found that the hitch pin hole was 4-1/2-inches from the rear-most part of the bumper. This means you'll want to choose a bike rack that offers at least 5-inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole to ensure that you have no interference between the rack and the Sienna. • Recommended Trailer Hitch with the Highest Clearance for a 2013 Toyota Sienna
  • The smaller Class II hitches like # 36513 will give you a little more clearance vs. Class III hitches. The Class II will have lower tongue weight and gross trailer weight capacities. A bike rack with a rise in the shank will provide more ground clearance. When we have installed trailer hitch # 36513 on Toyota Sienna vans the same generation as yours we measured approximately 11 inches from level ground to the top of the receiver opening. To the bottom of the receiver that would be approximately...

For a Draw-Tite that is confirmed to fit your vehicle you would want the part # 75237. Or, you could use the Curt Hitch part # C13105 that you referenced. • Comparing Curt and Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitches for 2013 Toyota Sienna with Hitch Bike Rack
  • A trailer hitch's towing capacity and tongue weight capacity are determined by the testing done by the manufacturer. The Draw-Tite # 75237 is designed to be able to tow a greater amount of weight than the Curt # C13105 hitch. Either hitch will work well for your 2013 Toyota Sienna, as I found the maximum towing capacity for the vehicle, with the towing package, to be 3,500 pounds. I found this information on page 211 of the owner's manual. The crosstube of the Curt hitch does sit a little...
