Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Toyota Camry

Today we are going to be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 36416 on a 2009 Toyota Camry. This hitch installation will also apply for Hidden Hitch part number 90152. OK, the first thing we want to do is to open up the trunk. And we need to remove our spare tire, because we will be drilling some holes through the spare tire well. As you can see here on the passengers side, we are going to need to actually lower the exhaust. You want to go ahead and use a strap or something to hold the exhaust up, because once you remove the final hanger, it will considerably. We are also going to go to the forward side of the exhaust. We need to remove the exhaust off the rubber hangers here, and here as well. You can see we have a reinforcing bracket that we are going to need to remove. And with the exhaust lowered and the brackets removed, we can go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. We have got two weld nuts here in this bumper flange that we are going to go ahead and use as two of the attaching points on each side. Once we get the hitch mounted into these weld nuts, there are two tabs that are going to be going into the spare tire well - which, we are are going to use the hitch as a template and drill holes through there. Then next, we want to go ahead and remove the two fascia clips here at the bottom of the bumper. When we mount the hitch, it will allow the cross tube to go up and behind the bumper.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Toyota Camry

Today we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 12343 on a 2009 Toyota Camry. We are underneath the vehicle now, and I am going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch before we get started. As you can see here on the passengers side, we have got the main exhaust. There are three bolts here at the bottom of the frame holding the exhaust bracket on. We are going to to need to remove those, and the hitch is actually going to go up in that same mounting location, using those same three holes. It is also going to use the weld nut here on the vertical flange here, nearest the bumper. You can see we have a reinforcing bracket that we are going to need to remove there are three bolts to take that off. The attaching points, again, on the drivers side, we are going to be using this same vertical flange. We are going to use this existing weld nut, and this one as well. This one you can see is covered by tape, so we are going to need to remove that first. And then this tab on the outboard side of the frame as well. And again, I am just cutting out the sticker to expose the weld nut and the frame. Some of these exposed weld nuts might have a considerable amount of corrosion in them. If that is the case, you want to go ahead and spray them down with some sort of lubricant, and maybe get a wire brush in there to clean them out really well before you get started.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Toyota Camry

Today we are going to install part number 12339 from Curt, and we are going to install this on a 2003 Toyota Camry. Before we begin our install, we will show you exactly where the hitch will mount up on the vehicle. First off, on the passengers side, it will mount up on these three bolts right here. We have taken these three bolts - one, two, three - and those will be replaced with the bolts that came with the hitch. Moving over to the drivers side, there will be couple of different varieties, depending on the vehicle you have. They will always have these two holes right here. On some varieties, there will be no holes here or maybe two existing holes. Or, in this case, there is actually one hole underneath the sticker right here. You will not actually know until you look underneath the vehicle. And there is a threaded bolt hole. So, in this case, we will only be using these three holes.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Toyota Camry

Today we are going to install part number 36336 from Draw-Tite on an 2005 Toyota Camry. The first thing we will to show you is where the hitch mounts on the frame. And the hitch will mount on the frame here using these two bolt holes for sure. However, on some models there may be no more bolt holes, and there might be an extra one here. In this case, see? There is like a black sticker covering the hole. We will check it out and see if this is a threaded hole. If so, we can actually use that. If your vehicle does not have this threaded hole here, then you just drill out two holes using the hitch as a template and then put a U-bolt inside. We will see what we have got here. And it looks like this is a threaded hole. So on this side we will be using three attaching points. On the passengers side, with the exhaust here, we have to take down these two bolts, and then the hitch goes in this place. And then the exhaust bracket actually bolts on top of the hitch.

  • Can a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Mount Accessory be Used on a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch on a 2011 Toyota Camry
  • It is possible to use your 2 inch accessories in a class II, 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch. You would have to use a hitch expander, 1-1/4 to 2 inch. However, the use of an expander will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. It appears that the vast majority of trailer hitches for a 2011 Toyota Camry have a tongue weight capacity of 300 pounds. When using an expander, like # 80303, that capacity will be cut down to 150 pounds. This means that the weight of any acces
