What our customers are saying:

Ordered the hitch and light connector for an 06 Santa Fe. Received the components in a timely fashion. Installation of both the hitch and the light connector took only a couple of hours. The hardest part was disconnecting the muffler rubber mounts to install the hitch, and pulling out the clips on the carpeting to get inside to make the electrical connections. Thanks.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Pontiac Vibe

Today, on this 2009 Pontiac Vibe, we will be installing Curt hitch part number 12228. Okay, we are underneath the vehicle and we are looking at the drivers side frame rail. As you can see here at the end of the frame , we have got two existing weld nuts. Those are going to provide our two attaching points on the drivers side for our trailer hitch. We will be attaching the hitch to the weld nuts using the 12mm bolts and conical tooth washer. And on the passenger side, we will be using the same two weld nuts and same bolt washer combination. Over here on the passenger side, you will need to lift the hitch up over the exhaust. 0:31

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004-05 Pontiac Vibe

This is a hitch on a 2004-05 Pontiac Vibe. This one has preexisting fasteners in the frame right here, which in this case are a little bit corroded out. So, we will have to clean them out first with a bolt and some WD-40 to run through so we can fasten the hitch on. We already sprayed down the bolt. Then we are just going to run the bolt a little bit and then back them up. Put a little bit more in and go at it again. Just keep going at it until the bolt starts to spin freely, like it is doing now. You probably will not have to worry about much like that. One down, three to go. Work on the other two. Sometimes they do not go in right off the bat. And once you get the bolt half way in, it backs out pretty easy. Chances are you are pretty much down with that part.

Pontiac Vibe Trailer Hitch Questions and Answers

  • Can a 2009 Pontiac Vibe Safely Tow a 1,500 Pound Boat Trailer
  • Since you would be right at capacity I do recommend taking any measures feasible in lightening the load. That will make it that much easier on the vehicle. I do believe that properly equipped, the 2009 Pontiac Vibe will be fine towing the 1,500 pounds. Since you will not constantly be towing it up a steep ramp, and that aspect is only a small part of the journey, the Vibe should be just fine. For a trailer hitch, you can use # C12221 but it is for GT models. If you have a GT model then this i

  • Towing 13ft Burro Travel Trailer with 2007 Pontiac Vibe
  • In my research, I found that the Vibe has a 1500 lb towing capacity. Your vehicle should have no problem towing your camper. Because the only hitches available for a non-GT model Vibe are Class I hitches, you will be limited to 200 lb of tongue weight. Tongue weight is the amount of downward force applied to the hitch ball. You will need to make sure that the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer does not exceed that 200 lb figure. I will link you to an FAQ article that

  • Ball Recommendation for Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch with Ball Mount # 60958 for a 2008 Pontiac Vibe
  • For the Hidden Hitch trailer hitch # 60958, the included ball mount requires a ball with a 3/4 inch diameter shank. For a 1-7/8 inch ball you can use # 19256, and for a 2 inch ball, use # 19258. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video showing a typical isntallation of the hitch for you.

  • Does the Heat Shield on a 2007 Pontiac Vibe have to be Trimmed to Install a Trailer Hitch
  • The only note in the actual instructions for Curt Trailer Hitch, # 12234, are for a different vehicle on which this hitch also fits. However, we have found that it is possible that the heat shield in question will need to be trimmed using aviator shears. Heat shields are thin pieces of metal that help to dissipate heat from the exhaust. Trimming a portion will not negatively affect the performance of the vehicle and the process is actually very easy. I have included a link to the installation

  • Is Heat Shield Modifcation Required to Install Curt Trailer Hitch # 12221 on a 2008 Pontiac Vibe
  • The Curt hitch # 12221 is only a fit for the 2008 Pontiac Vibe GT models. Heat shield modification is only required for installation if the heat shield interferes with the hitch installation area. If you do not have a GT model, then heat shield modification would not be required. I would recommend Hidden Hitch model # 60898, as this hitch does not require heat shield modification, and it includes a drawbar and a pin and clip, which would be required if you plan to tow a trailer. • T-1 Connector Part # 118468 as Least Costly Option for Trailer Connector on 2009 Scion xB
  • Your 2009 xB requires a powered system, which means that the tail light converter gains its signals from the vehicle tail light circuits, but receives power for the trailer lamps directly from the vehicle battery. The tail light circuits on that vehicle are not rated to handle the additional load of the trailer lights. We offer a Upgraded Modulite Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, part # 119176 that is a bit less costly than the T-1, but the necessary ins

  • What Draw Bar Fits Draw-Tite Class I Hitch Part # 24812
  • The Draw-Tite Class I hitch you were looking at, part # 24812 uses a 1-1/4 inch receiver. If the draw bars you have were intended to be used in a class I hitch, they will work. Keep in mind, Draw-Tite recommends only using the part # 3593 draw bar. • The stop inside the hitch is not to force customers to purchase certain brand products, but to ensure that a Class II draw bar is not inserted into a Class I hitch. The Draw-Tite hitch you have, part # 24812, is a Class I hitch so if the welded stop inside is preventing the draw bar from going all the way in, you have a Class II drawbar.
