Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Honda Fit

Today we are going to install part number 24826 from Draw-Tite, and we are going to install this on a 2009 Honda Fit. The hitch gets installed using this hole in the frame and this hole in the frame right here. And also what is going to happen is we are going to have to trim this plastic piece off so the hitch will fit flush against the frame of the vehicle. OK, it is going to be the same thing on this side however, the hitch is going to wrap around the exhaust and use the same existing holes that are in the frame as was on the drivers side. Optionally, you can disconnect the exhaust and move it out of the way so it will be a little easier to get ahold of the hardware going into the vehicle. And that is what we are going to do here. So we will disconnect the two rubber hangers here, and hopefully that will give us enough wiggle room to push it off to the side. We actually put a safety strap on - we actually use a strap to hold it out of the way because there is plenty of room actually to move around now.

  • 2015 Honda Fit Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation
  • I can assure you that all three of the hitches recommended for your 2015 Honda Fit do actually fit. This includes the Curt Hitch part # C11406, the Draw Tite Hitch part # 24920, and the Hidden Hitch part # 60353. All three of the hitches will install basically the same. In fact, the Draw Tite and the Hidden Hitch do install the exact same as they are basically the same hitch. The Curt hitch uses a very similar installation method but doesn't use all of the same holes in the frame as...

This hitch is very similar to the Draw-Tite hitch, # 60218, that you referenced but it does not include a draw bar and pin and clip so it is priced a little lower. If you only plan on carrying a bike rack I would recommend the # 24826, but if you plan on someday towing a trailer I would recommend you get the # 60218. • Trailer hitches are vehicle specific and Curt hitch # 13534 is designed to fit a 2008 to 2013 Toyota Highlander. It will not fit a 2013 Honda Fit. Trailer hitches for the Honda Fit are much smaller because the vehicle is not as capable as a larger SUV or truck. That is why they only make Class I trailer hitches for it. I have included a link to the trailer hitches that will fit your vehicle. If you are looking for a hitch to carry something like a bike rack then I recommend Draw-Tite...

The hitch is a different brand, but the installation is the same as the Hidden Hitch. Some items you may need to complete your Class I towing setup are the Tow Ready 2...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver to Accommodate a Hitch Bike Rack for a 2015 Honda Fit
  • I have a couple recommendations for your setup! First off, the trailer hitch I recommend is the Draw-Tite 1-1/4 inch hitch # 24920 because it's currently the most popular hitch for your 2015 Honda Fit. It will have a 200 pound tongue weight capacity. The 2015 Honda Fit will work with only Class-I accessories such as bike racks, cargo carries, ball mounts and tube covers. Please note that only Class-I with 1-1/4 inch receivers are available for the 2015 Honda Fit. Keep in mind that...

  • Will Installing the Hidden Hitch Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Honda Fit Void the Vehicle Warranty
  • Installing the Hidden Hitch Class I trailer hitch, # 60847, on your 2008 Honda Fit should not void the vehicle warranty, as long as it is not determined that the hitch itself caused the issue you are taking the vehicle in for service for. Your warranty is protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, which states in part that unless the modification to your vehicle caused the problem your warranty must be honored. This being said you will need to use common sense precautions...

  • Will The Hidden Hitch Class I Hitch, #60218, Fit A 2010 Honda Fit
  • Yes, the Hidden Hitch Class I Hitch, #60218, will fit a 2010 Honda Fit Sport. It is a 1-1/4 inch Class I hitch that has a 2,000 lb. towing capacity and a 200 lb. tongue weight capacity. The drawbar, pin and clip are included. You will have to trim a tab from the drivers side wheel well. It uses the 4 bolt holes already on the vehicle, the 2 rear holes have to be notched to allow the spacers to fit inside the frame. There is no drilling required, it is a bolt-on installation. For towing...

  • Trailer Hitch Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for a Class I Hitch on a 2011 Honda Fit
  • The Draw-Tite trailer hitch, # 24826, is a Class I trailer hitch. What this means is that it can only accept certain bike racks. The most it can handle is 2 bikes. A Class II accessory, even though it has a 1-1/4 inch shank, will not fit in a Class I receiver. The shank is too long. The bike rack you are describing sounds like it may be for 2 inch receivers, or at least a Class II, 1-1/4 inch receiver, but not a Class I. It also sounds like you are talking about a platform style bike...

  • Options for Carrying 4 Bikes on 2010 Honda Fit Being Flat Towed with Motorhome
  • The Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 24826, that you mentioned is a great choice. This hitch was custom designed for the 2010 Honda Fit and offers bolt-on installation, no drilling or welding required. When it comes to carrying four bikes with your Fit, I recommend going with one of the following options, carry two bikes on a hitch mounted carrier and two on the roof of the Fit or carry two bikes with a trunk mounted carrier and two on the roof. Due to the low tongue weight...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Honda Pilot for a Bike Rack
  • For your 2015 Honda Fit there are only 1-1/4 inch hitches like the Draw Tite # 24920 available. 2 inch hitches are usually only seen on larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks. This hitch has a 200 lb tongue weight capacity, so as long as your bike rack is compatible with Class I hitches you should be good with the Draw Tite. You may need to upgrade your bike rack though. The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack...

  • Availability of Hitch Cargo Carrier to Fit on a Honda Fit Being Towed Behind a RV
  • There is not a difference between the 2009 to 2013 Honda Fit as far as the size of hitch that will fit and the maximum amount of weight it can carry. The Honda Fit will use a Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch with a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. For a hitch that fits a 2009 to 2013 Honda Fit I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 24826. • Will Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Honda Fit Void the Warranty
  • Consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the probĀlem in question. With that said you will want to check the vehicle owners manual for your 2013 Honda Fit. It may say specifically not to install a trailer hitch and if so then I...

  • Do I need an Adapter with Rise for a Platform-Style Bike Rack on Honda Fit with DrawTite Hitch
  • I have a similar rack to the one you referenced that is a fit for your 2013 Honda Fit and your Class I Draw-Tite Sportframe hitch and will not require a hitch adapter. I recommend the Thule T2 Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier with Integrated Cable Lock for 1-1/4 inch Hitches # TH917XTR. This rack tilts down for easy rear-of-vehicle access. A few measurements: The rack measures 18 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest bike-carrier rail. It measures 3-1/2 inches...

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2008 Honda Fit Sport to Use a Bike Carrier with 2 Inch Shank
  • All of the trailer hitches for the 2008 Honda Fit are Class I hitches with 1-1/4 inch receivers. This is a reflection of the ability of the vehicle; it isn't designed to tow or carry heavy loads so higher Class hitches are not made for it. The only way to carry the bike rack would be to use a trailer hitch # 24776 and an adapter, # HTAD. The adapter will convert the 1-1/4 inch receiver to a 2 inch. However, using an adapter reduces the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent....

  • Is a Draw Bar Required for Carrying a Bike Rack on a 2008 Honda Fit with a Draw Tite Hitch # 24776
  • No, if you are just planning on using the Draw Tite Hitch part # 24776 to install a bike rack all you need is the hitch. Whatever bike rack you purchase will come with its own pin and clip, and a drawbar would only be used for towing a trailer. The most popular bike rack with other Honda Fit owners is the Swagman XTC-2 # S64670 bike rack. This is a highly rated bike rack with many great features. Check out the review video I attached that shows this rack being used on a similar Fit as yours.

  • How to Determine Ground Clearance on a 2015 Honda Fit with Draw-Tite Hitch Before Installation
  • On Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24920 and all of the hitches for the 2015 Honda Fit the receiver will be directly below the rear fascia. So if you measure from the bottom most part of the fascia down to the ground and subtract 1-3/4 inches that will be the approximate ground clearance measurement once the hitch is installed. On smaller vehicles that are low to the ground to start with, adding a trailer hitch usually reduces ground clearance so you have to keep that in mind when choosing...

The only difference between this hitch and the Hidden Hitch # 60218 is that the Hidden Hitch includes a ballmount that you won't need unless you plan on doing some towing in the future.
