Before we get started with our installation we are going to go ahead and give you a couple of the final install dimensions, which are going to help make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to measure 20 inches, and from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to measure approximately 3 inches. And now we will go ahead and move on to installation. First thing weve done is go ahead and lower the spare tire down to give us a little bit more working room. Go ahead and go under the vehicle and we want to point out the mounting holes we are going to be using to attach the hitch to the vehicle.

Today on this 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 series we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 87430 and this installation will also apply for Draw-Tite hitch part number 75521. We are underneath the vehicle and the first thing we did was remove the spare tire. We are going to first start by pointing out the attaching points that we are going to be using to install our trailer hitch. We are starting here in the center of the vehicle at the bottom of the bumper, you can see we have got two existing weld nuts here and those are going to provide our two rear most center attaching points for the hitch. Then moving on to the frame starting over on the driver side you can see there is an existing bolt at the end of the frame and we are going to remove that and that is going to provide our rear most attaching point. 00:38
Trailer Hitch Installation - 2002 GMC Sierra
Today we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13322 on a 2002 GMC Sierra. The first thing you want to do is go ahead and lower the spare tire to get it out of your way. OK, we are looking at the drivers side of the vehicle here. At the bottom of the frame you can see we have got an existing bolt. We are going to be removing that off both sides of the vehicle, and we will be replacing that with new hardware. Just forward of that is an existing hole as well that we are going to be using a carriage bolt and block - just it down from the top of the frame, down into place. And then here on the bumper itself we have got two existing weld nuts. Those are going to provide the rear-most attaching points for the trailer hitch. And again, we are going to be using the hardware that is provided in the installation kit. We will go ahead and take our carriage bolt and block and that into place. The next thing we want to do is go ahead and remove the bolts from the end of the frame rail on both sides, and then we can go ahead and put the hitch up into position. We are going to replace the bolts that came out of the frame with the new 14-millimeter bolts, along with the conical-tooth washers. We are also going to be using those bolts in the bumper as well.
Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 GMC Sierra
Today we are going to install a Curt hitch, part number 13322, on a 2006 GMC Sierra. We lowered the spare tire, just so we have more room to work with. And I will go ahead and point out all the mounting locations which we are going to use for the hitch. There is an existing bolt here on the frame rail, and it is on both sides. And then we are going to use the bolt right behind it this is where we are going to have to install hardware. And then in the center there are two more mounting locations on the hitch, and these are already threaded, so this should be pretty straightforward.
