GMC Acadia Roof Bike Racks Questions and Answers

  • Will my Thule Big Mouth and Echelon Bike racks fit on my 2009 GMC Acadia?
  • If you have the factory crossbars on your 2009 GMC Acadia then both the Thule Echelon Bike Rack # TH518 and the Thule Big Mouth Bike Rack # TH599XTR are confirmed to fit as long as you use the Thule Ride-On Adapter # TH532. A better option you have would be to get a Yakima roof rack instead of the factory rack and an adapter. Both your bike racks are confirmed to attach to Yakima roof racks without an adapter. For a Yakima roof rack you will need the following parts: Round 48 inch...

  • Will SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box Fit 2012 GMC Acadia
  • The SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box, part # SR7018, will work with your 2012 GMC Acadia if the crossbars are no more than 3-3/4 inches in diameter. You will need to measure the existing roof side rails on your Acadia to ensure that they are the correct spread, 25-7/8, 27-7/8, or 29-7/8 inches apart. You should also consult your owners manual to determine the weight capacity of the roof rack on your Acadia. Check out the video review of this cargo box I have included. SportRack also has...

  • I checked with Thule and the Sonic XL cargo box # TH635B will fit the factory roof rack on your 2011 GMC Acadia. This box is also available in silver, # TH635S. I have linked a video review of this box for you.

  • Recommended Cargo Box for 2012 GMC Acadia with Factory Installed Crossbars
  • We have a wide variety of Thule and Yakima cargo boxes compatible with your 2012 GMC Acadia with factory installed crossbars. For a compatible Thule cargo box I recommend the Thule Pulse XL Rooftop Cargo Box # TH615, which you referenced. The Pulse XL has a low profile and an aerodynamic shape that helps to reduce drag and wind noise when the box is mounted on your roof rack. This cargo box can be installed on your factory roof rack and not interfere with the opening of the rear hatch...

  • Cargo Carriers to Fit Crossbars on 2013 GMC Acadia
  • There are three general types of rooftop cargo carriers: fabric bags that can mount in a variety of ways on most any vehicle, metal cargo baskets that attach to roof racks and enclosed plastic cargo boxes that attach to racks. The link provided will take you to our main page that shows you all types. The crossbar spread on your vehicle will prevent fitting many smaller cargo baskets, but one that will work well is the Yakima MegaWarrior # Y07080-82 that measures 74- long x 48- wide x...

  • Will the Sportrack SkyLine XL Cargo Box Fit a 2013 GMC Acadia
  • In order to determine if the SportRack Roof Cargo Carrier part # SR7095 would fit the factory rack of your 2013 GMC Acadia you will need to take a couple measurements. The max bar width that this box will fit on is 4 inches and the spread between the two crossbars must be 21-1/2 inches. If your roof rack is compatible with those dimensions this box should work very well for you. I attached installation instructions for this box for you to check out also.

  • Will the Second Row Sunroof Support a Fully Loaded Thule 856 Tahoe Cargo Bag
  • Vehicle manufacturers do not recommend placing any cargo directly on sunroofs. The glass was not designed to support additional weight. A better option for you would be to add crossbar to your factory side rails and use a roof basket and a cargo bag or a roof mounted cargo box. This would keep the load off of the sunroof and allow you to carry more weight. Based on your photo, it appears that you have a GMC Acadia. There are different roof rack options depending on the year of your...

  • Roof Rack for a 2007 GMC Acadia with Factory Side Rails
  • Thule has a similar product like the Yakima RailGrabs. They have the Crossroads, # TH450 for square bars or # TH450R for AeroBlade bars. However, they are different because they have a strap system that fits around a bar so they will only fit raised side rails. You will have to make sure that your crossbars can reach all the way across the roof if you do have raised side rails. If you do not then I do recommend going with the Yakima system using the RailGrabs, # Y00138, and crossbars...

  • Roof Mounted Cargo Bag Recommendation for a 2008 GMC Acadia with Side Rails Running Front to Back
  • You could attach the Thule cargo bag, # TH857 to the side rails only but it is not recommended for this bag. The reason is because during starts and stops, the bag can move forward and backwards and it can damage the roof of the vehicle. What I recommend is a bag that can be used with or without any type of roof rack. Take a look at the Yakima GetOut Pro, # Y07188. This bag can be attached to the roof safely even without crossbars or rails. Make sure that the bottom of the bag and the...
