Now as you can see we do already have our front crossbars on. I'm going to show you how we set up the back crossbar, and then also how we put it onto the vehicle. The first thing you'll need to do is take your other foot pack and you want to make sure that this screw is facing out and just slide that on to our bar there, and we can go ahead and place the end cap to our crossbar on there. Now we have about 2 and 3 quarter inches on this side of overhang, so we're going to go ahead and measure out about the same, that's all right. Next, we'll take our crossbar and we'll just place it on our vehicle.

Today on our 2016 GMC Acadia, we are test fitting the Wisp Bar Locking Roof-top Ski and Snow-board Carrier and the part number for that is WB-300. Now we do already have the front of our carrier on. We are just going to show you how we put on the back carrier because it's the same exact way. Just take our carrier. Make sure our buttons are on the same side here and just slide that down our cross-bar. All right, with that in place, we will go ahead and step up in to our vehicle here. First thing you want to do is push this black button here and open up the carrier.

Yakima FatCat Ski and Snowboard Carrier Review - 2012 GMC Acadia

Today on our 2012 GMC Acadia well be test fitting the Yakima FatCat 6 locking roof top ski and snowboard carrier part number Y03088. Now with our roof rack system already assembled onto our vehicle, well begin our test fit by placing the front part of the carrier onto the front crossbar. Well then open up the jaws of the carrier and bring the rubber coated steel straps around the underside of the crossbar and hook them into position. With the jaws of the carrier open, we do expose the black levers. Once the rubber coated steel strap is in position we can tighten down those levers securing the straps to the carrier, securing the carrier to the vehicles crossbar. Now with the front part of the carrier loaded up, well set the rear part of the carrier onto the rear crossbar.

GMC Acadia Roof Rack Questions and Answers

  • Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2015 GMC Acadia
  • I have a solution for you, but your now discontinued Rola roof rack part 59835 cannot be adapted to fit your Acadia. If you happen to have raised roof rails on your 2015 GMC Acadia we have the Rola roof rack part number # 59680. If instead you have a naked roof you would want the Rhino Rack part numbers # DS1375B and # DK230.

  • Yakima Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2012 GMC Acadia with Raised Rails
  • Yakima does recommend the 58 inch crossbars part # Y00409 for your 2012 or 2010 GMC Acadia with raised rails. But after watching the video there is definitely more than 5 inches of extra crossbar on either side of the rail grab so a 48 inch bar # Y00408 SHOULD work just fine. You will also need the railgrabs part # Y00138 to complete the rack.

  • Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2010 GMC Acadia with Factory Rails
  • Yes, you would need a Yakima Roof Rack for 2010 GMC Acadia, part # Y00409, Y00138. This will give you a set of cross bars that will mount onto your current roof rails that run from front to back. I attached a link to a review video that will help explain how it installs and operates.

  • To be able to carry 3 bikes on the roof of your 2014 Acadia I recommend using a 2-bike carrier and a single bike carrier. The 2-bike carrier I recommend is the SportRack Upshift 2 Roof Bike Rack, part # SR4883RP. This is a frame mount bike rack and can accommodate 2 bikes that weigh up to 45 lbs each with a maximum wheelbase of 48 inches and a max tire width of 2-1/2 inches. The single bike carrier I recommend is the SportRack Upshift Roof Bike Rack, part # SR4883. This has the...

  • How Many Bikes Will fit on 2010 GMC Acadia with Factory Roof Rack
  • There are two things to consider to determine what your 2010 GMC Acadia and factory roof rack could handle. You need to determine the roof capacity of your vehicle. This will be listed in your owners manual. And you need to consider the length of your cross bars to determine how many bikes would fit up there. Usually 3 is the limit but you may be able to fit a fourth if you alternate the directions the bikes are facing. The outer two would face forward and the center one would face backwards....

  • Recommended Roof Rack System for Thule Kayak Carrier on 2014 GMC Acadia w/ Roof Rails
  • You can easily install crossbars to your existing roof rails. If you prefer the economical square roof crossbars, you can use part # TH45050, which would provide the crossbars, the feet to attach them to the roof rails and locks. I have linked you to an installation video showing this rack system being installed on a 2012 Acadia. Square profile crossbars can be a bit noisy, using a fairing like part # TH8701 would reduce the wind noise. If you prefer the the Aero style crossbars, you...

  • 2014 GMC Acadia Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 4 Kayaks
  • Aftermarket roof racks are going to cost less and are going to function just as well if not better than a factory one. Since you plan to carry 4 kayaks and would need the crossbar space you would want the Yakima Roof Rack part numbers # Y00409 and # Y00138 which will give you 58 inch crossbars at a great price. The Thule Stacker, # TH830, and Yakima BigStack, # Y04041 would both fit this rack. Our experience has been that the Stacker is a bit more stable so it would be what I recommend. Be...

  • Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for a 2009 GMC Acadia
  • For your 2009 GMC Acadia you will need to install a set of crossbars that run from left to right on the roof so that you can install a kayak carrier.
