Thule AeroBlade Traverse Roof Rack Installation - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Thule Rapid Traverse Roof Rack System, part numbers tharb60, th480r, and thkit1518. With the feet, load bars, and fit kit all assembled well go ahead and place our front load bar onto the front of our roof. Well then measure from the front part of the glass to the first part of the foot. Well measure this 20 7/8 inches on both the passenger and driver side of the vehicle ensuring that the front load bar is perpendicular to the roof and the rubber pads on the bottom of the feet contour to the roofline correctly. Once weve established this position, well use the included tensioning tool to tighten down the feet to secure the front load bar to the front of our roof. Note youll want to make sure that you tighten each foot a little bit at a time so that the load bar doesnt favor one side of the vehicle.



Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack Installation - 2009 Ford Flex

Today on our 2009 Ford Flex, well be test fitting the Yakima round bar roof racking system, part number Y00409, Y00731 and Y00124. Now with our Q towers, Q clips and round bars already assembled according to the instructions. Well begin our test fit by placing the front crossbar on to the front of the vehicle. Well then need to measure from the front part of the glass to the first part of the tower, as stated in to the instructions this measurement is 20 inches. Well measure this on both the passenger and driver side of the vehicle to make sure that the crossbar is perpendicular to the vehicle and the pads on the bottom of the Q towers can tour to the root line. Once weve established this position on to the roof, well then turn the silver balls on the interior of the tower, and then clamp down the black plastic caps to secure the towers to the vehicle.



Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack Installation - 2011 Ford Flex

Today we have a 2011 Ford Flex and were going to be test fitting the Yakima Roof Rack System. Well be using the 58-inch crossbars part number Y00409, two sets of the Q131 clips part number Y00731, as well as the Q towers part number Y00124. We already have our crossbars assembled according to the instructions so now were ready to mount them up on top of the vehicle. First well open the driver and passenger side front doors and well place the front crossbar assembly up on top of the roof. Well measure 20 inches from the edge of the windshield to the leading edge of the Q towers on both sides of the vehicle. Once we have the crossbar in position we can adjust the thumb screws and clamp down our Q towers.



Thule Traverse Roof Rack Installation - 2011 Ford Flex

Today we have with us a 2011 Ford Flex and we're going to be test fitting a Thule Square Load Bar Roof Rack System. We'll be using the 50 inch square load bars part number THLB58, the Traverse Foot Pack part number TH480, as well as the fit kit for our flex which is part number THKIT1518. We already have our load bar assemblies put together according to the instructions so now we're ready to mount them up on our vehicle. To do this first we'll open the passenger and driver's side front doors. We'll take our front load bar assembly and place it up on top. To position the front bar we need to measure 20-7/8 inches from the edge of our windshield to the leading edge of the Traverse Foot on either side of the vehicle.



Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack Installation - 2009 Ford Flex

Today on this 2009 Ford Flex, we are going to do a test fit of the Yakima Roof System. We are going to be using the Yakima Q Towers, part number Y00124, and we are going to be using the cross bars part number Y00409, and the Yakima Q clips and pads, part number Q131. Okay with our bars setup already, I am going to go ahead and open the front doors so that we can go ahead and install the front bar. When we sit the bar onto the vehicle, were going to set it so that it will be 20 inches from the front edge of the windshield. Measuring from the front edge where the sheet metal and windshield meet for the front of my Q tower, I want it to be 20 inches. Once I got my bar positioned on the vehicle, I am going to go ahead and check to make sure Im even side to side.



Thule Traverse Roof Rack Installation - 2009 Ford Flex

Today on this 2009 Ford Flex we are going to install a Thule Roof-Rack System on a naked roof. We will be using the Thule Foot Pack part number TH480, the Thule Square Load Bars part number THLB58, and the Thule Fit Kit THKIT1518. Our first step is to go ahead and install our front load bar. We have already pre-assembled our load bars for this test fit, so to get started we are going to open the front doors. Now we are ready to install the front load bar. The bar is going to sit 20-7/8 inches from the edge of where the windshield meets the sheet metal to the front of the foot pack.

Thule Domestique Roof Bike Rack Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex, we'll be test fitting the Thule Domestique roof-mounted bike carrier, part number TH513. We'll begin our test fit by placing the carrier onto the vehicle's crossbars. We'll loosen up the Allen bolts on the rear bracket, as well as the Allen bolts at the head of the carrier, to bring both brackets around the underside of the front and rear crossbar. Once we've positioned the brackets over the crossbars, we'll use the Allen key to tighten down the Allen bolts to secure our Thule Domestique to our Ford Flex. Once everything's tightened down and secured, we're ready to load up our bike. We'll undo the tray strap at the rear of the carrier and double check to make sure the skewer's loose as well.



Swagman Fork Down Roof Bike Rack Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex, we'll be test fitting the Swagman Fork Down roof-mounted bike carrier, part number S64710. We'll begin our test fit by placing the carrier onto the vehicle's load bars. We'll start at the head of the carrier and slide the silver brackets around the underside of the front load bar. We'll then use the black wing nuts to thread onto the bracket, securing the head of the carrier to the front load bar. We'll then move to the rear load bar. This time, we'll slide the silver bracket through the top of the carrier, down against the edges of the rear load bar.



Thule Circuit Roof Bike Rack Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Thule Circuit Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, part number th526. Well begin our test fit by first removing the skewer from the head of the carrier. Well then place our carrier on to our vehicles load bars and undo the cam action lever at the head of the carrier. This will allow us to remove the t-bolt from the bracket, bring the bracket around the underside of the front load bar and hook the t-bolt in. Well then tighten down the t-bolt and clamp down the cam action lever securing the head of the carrier to the front load bar. Well then loosen up one of the black wing nuts for the rear bracket to bring that around the underside of the rear load bar.



RockyMounts TieRod Stretch Roof Bike Rack Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex well be test fitting the RockyMounts Tierod Stretch Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, part number rky1011. Well begin our test fit by placing the carrier on to the vehicles crossbars. Well then remove the black plastic cover at the head of the carrier to bring the rubber-coated steel straps around the underside of the front crossbar. Well then loosen up the Allen bolts at the rear of the carrier to bring the rear bracket around the underside of the rear load bar. Well then tighten down the silver bolt at the head of the carrier tightening the straps to the front load bar. Well then tighten down the Allen bolts at the rear of the carrier for the rear bracket to secure the rear of the carrier to the rear load bar.



Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Flex

Today we have a 2011 Ford Flex and we'll be test fitting the Yakima Frontloader Roof-Mounted Bike Carrier part number Y02103. To mount our carrier to our roof rack we'll lift it up and set it on top of our crossbars. We'll fit the front clamp around our front crossbar and use the hand knob to tighten it down. Then we'll slide the rear clamp into position over the rear bar and use the T-bolt and wing nut to tighten it down. Now, we can prep to load a bike. We need to make sure that the front wheel hoop is up and that our wheel strap at the back of the bike carrier is open.



Swagman Fork Down Roof Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Flex

Today we have a 2011 Ford Flex and we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Fork-Down Roof-Mounted Bike Carrier part number S64710. To mount the carrier to our vehicle we're going to set it up on top of our load bars. We'll fit 2 U-bolts around the load bar up at the front and secure them with the wing nuts. At the rear we'll fit the U-bolt down through the bike rack and over our load bar. We'll take a plate and fit it over the U-bolt from the bottom and secure the plate with 2 wing nuts. With that done our bike rack is secured to roof rack and we're ready to load up a bike.



RockyMounts TieRod Roof Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Flex

Today on our 2011 Ford Flex we're going to be test fitting the Rockymounts Tierod Roof-Mounted Bike Carrier, part number RKY1014. To mount our bike carrier to our vehicle, we'll simply place it in top of our load bars. At the front we'll feed the straps around our load bar and re-secure them back into the head of the bike rack. We'll use an Allen wrench to tighten those straps down. Then we can reinstall the cover in the head of the bike rack and we'll also make sure that our skewer is open. Then we'll move to the rear of the bike rack where we can secure the clamp around the load bar using the two wing nuts.



Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack Review - 2009 Ford Flex

Today on this 2009 Ford Flex, we're going to do a test fit of part number Y02103 from Yakima; this is a Front loader Bike Carrier. A few notes about this bicycle rack is that it does not require you to remove the front wheel on the bike if it's round, square, and factory crossbars. On this particular vehicle we'll be using the Yakima Roof Rack System. The adjustable arm provides a sure fit for any size wheels. Now we're going to start off our test fit with the bike rack already assembled according to the instructions, so we just got to put it on the roof rack. We'll line it at the front clamp with the front crossbar, and then we'll loosely install it and then go to the back clamp and loosely install it onto the roof rack for the second crossbar.



Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2009 Ford Flex

All right today, on this 2009 Ford Flex, we're going to do a test fit of part number Y02098 from Yakima, this is a Forklift Bicycle Rack. A few notes about this bicycle rack that it will work with round crossbars, and square crossbars and most factory crossbars. Now with this particular vehicle, we will be working with the Yakima Roof Rack System. To start off our test fit, our bicycle rack were already assembled according to the instructions, so we just kind of put it on the roof rack. We'll start off by lining the front clamp up with the front crossbar, and then we'll go ahead and tighten it down but loose enough where you can still move it around and will go on to the back clamp in protecting the place as well. Then we'll go ahead and move the bike rack to the position that we want, then we'll go ahead and tighten down both clamps.

Thule Sonic XXL Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Thule Sonic XXL Rooftop Cargo Box with 22 cubic feet of space, part number th636s. Well begin our test fit by placing the cargo box onto the vehicles load bars. Well unlock the box and open up the lid exposing the four knobs. After positioning the Thule Sonic where you want it on your roof, you can tighten down the knobs on the inside of the box which will close the claws tightly against the load bar. Now, one great feature of the Thule Sonic is its ability to open from either the passenger or driver side of our vehicle. In this application well open the other side of the box allowing us to easily reach in and secure the other two claws, and as you can see we can easily access the rear hatch.



Thule Pulse Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Thule Pulse Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box, part number th613. Well begin our test fit by placing the cargo box onto the vehicles load bars. Well unlock the box and open the lid and take our four clamps to slide over top of our load bars. Well then turn the knobs to tighten down the clamps tightly against the load bars. Well then repeat these steps for all three of the other clamps. Now with our Thule Pulse Alpine secured to our Ford Flex, you can see that we can easily access the rear hatch.



Thule Pulse XL Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex, well be test fitting a Thule Pulse XL rooftop cargo box part number TH615. Well begin our test fit by placing the cargo box on to the vehicles load bars. Well position the box, unlock it and open the lid. Well then take the claws and slide them through the slots over the load bars. Well then turn the knobs so the claws can clamp down tightly at the load bars. Well then repeat all these steps for all three of the other clamps.Now, you can see with the Thule Pulse secured to our Ford Flex, we can easily access the rear hatch.



Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box, part number th614. Well begin our test fit by placing the cargo box on to the vehicles load bars. Well unlock the box and open up the lid positioning the box where wed like it onto our load bars. Well then slide the clamps over the load bars turning the knobs allowing the clamps to grip tightly against the load bar. Once weve repeated all these steps for all three of the other claws our Thule Pulse is secured to our Ford Flex, and as you can see with the box secured to our vehicle we can easily access the rear hatch. Thule MOAB Roof Top Cargo Basket Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex, well be test fitting a Thule Moab rooftop cargo basket part number TH690XT. Well begin our test fit by placing the carrier on to the vehicles load bars. Well loosen up the gray wing nuts to black brackets around the other side of the load bars. Well insert a silver bolt through the holes and use the wing nuts to thread back on to the silver bolts securing the brackets to the load bars.Note that with this vehicles cross bar spread once that bracket will be difficult to get on. Youll have to make sure that the wing nuts are loosen up enough for your wing nuts to thread on. Once all the brackets are tightened down, our Thule Moab are secured to our Ford Flex.



Thule Force Large Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2010 Ford Flex

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex, well be test fitting a Thule Force Large rooftop cargo box, part number TH624. Well begin our test fit by placing the cargo box on to the vehicles load bars. Well unlock the box and open up the lid exposing the four knobs that control the clamps. If necessary, well adjust the clamps to fit the load bars spread of our vehicle.Once they have the clamps positioned over the load bars, well tighten them down allowing the clamps to grip tightly on to the load bars. Well close the lid and lock them the box and open it from the other side exposing the two claws closest to the other side of the vehicle. Well tighten on the knobs to secure the clamps.Now, the Thule Force Large secured for our Ford Flex, you can see, we can easily gain access to the vehicles rear hatch with the cargo box secured to the vehicle.

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Thule Flat Top Ski and Snowboard Carrier with a six ski or four board capacity, part number th92725. Well begin our test fit by placing the front part of the carrier onto the front load bar. Well bring the rubber-coated steel straps around the underside of the load bar and hook them back into the top bracket. Well then turn the gray knob to tighten down the strap tightly around the front load bar. Well then place the rear part of the carrier onto the rear load bar and again bring the rubber-coated steel straps around the underside of the rear load bar and hook them back into the top bracket. Today on our 2009 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Yakima Fatcat 6 Locking Rooftop Ski and Snowboard Carrier with a six ski or four board capacity, part number y03088. Now with the roof rack system already assembled and onto our vehicle, well begin our test fit by placing the front part of the carrier onto the front crossbar. Well then open up the jaws exposing the black levers and loosen them up to allow the black latch on the rubber-coated steel straps to snap into position. Well then tighten down the black lever and clamp it down. Well bring the rubber-coated steel straps around the underside of the front crossbar and hook them into the head of the carrier. Well then repeat these steps for the other bracket on the other side of the carrier.

Today on our 2009 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Whispbar Ski and Snowboard Carrier with a six ski or four board capacity, part number wb-300. Now with the roof rack system already assembled and onto our vehicle, well begin our test fit by placing the front part of the carrier on to the front crossbar. Well then need to open up the jaws of the carrier to expose the black levers. Well need to loosen up the black levers to allow the clamps to fit in place. Well then clamp the strap into position. Well bring the rubber-coated steel straps around the underside of the front crossbar, and hook them back into the head, and tighten down the black lever.



Thule Flat Top Ski and Snowboard Carrier Review - 2011 Ford Flex

Today we've got a 2011 Ford Flex and we're going to be test fitting the Thule Flattop Ski and Snowboard Carrier part number TH92725. To mount our carrier to our roof rack we'll take half of the carrier and place it on top of the front load bar. We'll feed the spindling straps around re-securing them to the head and tightening them down with the hand knob. Once we have the front half installed we'll move to the rear of the vehicle to install the second half. We do want to make sure that the rear carrier lines up well with the front carrier so we can hold our skies and snowboards in a straight line. Again, we'll feed the spindling straps around re-secure them to the head and tighten them down with the knobs.

Today on our 2010 Ford Flex well be test fitting the Thule SUP Taxi Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier with a two board capacity, part number th810. Well begin our test fit by placing the front part of the carrier onto the front load bar. Well bring the rubber-coated steel straps around the underside of the front load bar and hook them back into the top bracket. Well then turn the gray knobs to tighten down the straps tightly against the load bar securing the front part of the carrier to the front of our vehicle. Thule SUP Taxi Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier Review - 2011 Ford Flex

Today we're working with a 2011 Ford Flex and we're going to be test fitting a Thule SUP Taxi Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier part number TH810. To mount our carrier to our roof rack we'll take half of the carrier and set it up on top of the front load bar. We'll position it where we want it and feed the spindling straps around the load bar and secure them back to the head. We'll then use the hand knobs to tighten down the straps on both sides of the vehicle. Then we'll take the second half of the carrier and place it on the rear bar. We do want to make sure that it lines up nicely with the front so that we can carry our paddleboard.

  • I have confirmed with Yakima that the Whispbar Through Bar Roof Rack constructed of The # WB-S18 crossbars and the # WBK576 fit kit is indeed a fit for your 2010 Ford Flex. According to Yakima, the bars will not block the sunroof, but certain accessories might interfere with it.
