Ford F-250 and F-350 Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Questions and Answers

  • How to Unplug a 7-Way Harness from the 7-Way on a Ford Super Duty
  • Do you see the white plastic piece in the shape of a U in the picture that you sent me? You will need to pull that piece out away from the harness to release it from the rest of the 7-way. Check out the video I attached and skip to the 3:25 mark to see how it unlocks and locks.

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 1995 Ford F-250 with No Existing Trailer Wiring
  • For a 1995 Ford F-250 that never had trailer wiring you will first need to install # 118316. Then you can install the 4 and 7 way installation kit # ETBC7. The other option is to use a circuit tester like # 3808 if needed to determine the functions of the wires you have found and hardwire them to the ETBC7 by cutting off the 4-Way end and splicing on the truck wires. On the ETBC7 4-Way, brown is running lights, green is right turn and brake lights and yellow is left turn and brake lights. Doing

  • Looking for 7-Way and 4-Pole Trailer Connector to Replace Existing 7-Way on 1996 Ford F250
  • I believe I understand what you are looking for. We do not have an adapter that will plug into your existing 7-way, but we do offer a replacement 7-way that includes a 4-pole connector as well. The 7-Way and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets w/ Mounting Bracket and Wiring, part # HM40975-11998 would replace your existing 7-way, and would provide a 4-pole connector for towing your Jeep. The connector includes the pigtail to wire into the existing wiring on your F250, as well as a mounting br

  • What are the Pin Functions on a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 1995 Ford F-250
  • The typical 7-Way on a vehicle is wired as described below if looking at the back of the connector where the wires attach: 1:00 = running lights 3:00 = left turn/brake lights 5:00 = ground 7:00 = output from brake controller 9:00 = right turn/brake lights 11:00 = 12 volt power Center = reverse lights I have included a link to our wiring FAQ that includes diagrams. If your 1995 Ford F-250 did not come with a 7-Way, you will need to install # 37185 (if the truck came with a 4-Way).

  • Parts Needed to Add a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 1994 Ford F-350
  • From what I was able to find, you will need to hardwire in a 7-Way using a 4 and 7 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. The Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, # 118243, does not fit the 1994 Ford F-350. I have included a link to an FAQ and a link to a video showing a typical installation of the ETBC7 for you.

  • Adding a New 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 1992 Ford F-250 that Previously Had a 7-Way
  • What you will need to do is test the plugs you have found with a circuit tester like # 3808 if needed. You will be testing for the various lighting functions, brake controller output (if still installed) and a good ground. If all the signals are there and working properly, you can hardwire in a 7-Way trailer connector. I recommend a multi-tow, like # HM48470, so you will have a 4-Way, 5-Way, and a 7-Way. What you will do is remove the plug on the end that works, clip it off, and attach the wi

  • Adding a 7 and 4-Way Trailer Connector to a 1997 Ford F-350 Diesel Dually
  • Because there is no replacement multi-tow trailer connector that fits a 1997 Ford F-350, you would either need to hardwire one in or use an adapter. The easiest solution is to use an adapter, # HM47570. It plugs into the 7-Way and will allow you to plug in a 6-Way, 4- Way or 5-Way. If you wanted to hardwire in a multi-tow 7 and 4-Way, you can use the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector, # HM40975. It would have to be mounted below the bumper or in a convenient location of your choosing as

  • Converting a 6-Way Trailer Connector to a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 1994 Ford F-350
  • Converting a 6-Way connector to a 7-Way connector will be easy. A 6-Way connector already has most of the functions used by a 7-Way, the only one missing is a circuit for reverse lights. If the trailer you plan to tow does not need a reverse light circuit, you will not even need to add one. You will need a 7-Way RV style vehicle side trailer connector. I recommend going with the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow, # HM48470, since it handles 7-Way, 5-Way, and 4-Way trailer connectors. In order to

  • Using T-1 Connector # 118316 and 4 to 7-Way Adapter # 37185 to Provide 7-Way for 1996 Ford F-350
  • For an easy installation that would require no cutting or splicing, using the Hopkins 4 to 7-Way Adapter, part # 37185 in conjunction with the T-1 harness, part # 118316 would be the way to go. The T-1 Harness would plug inline with the factory harness usually located at the rear of the frame rail on the drivers side. The 4 pole provided by the T-1 would then easily plug into the adapter. The remaining wires would connect as shown in the diagram I have linked to below.

  • Options for Adding a 7-Way Trailer Plug in the Bed of a 1995 Ford F-250HD for a Gooseneck Trailer
  • For your 1995 Ford F-250 HD, I recommend the 7-Way Connector 7 Foot Loop, # 20027. This harness plugs into your existing 7-Way. You can then route the cable how you want to the bed of the truck. I recommend drilling a hole in the side of the bed rail, routing the cable down through the bed rail to the bottom of the truck, and then mounting the end for your trailer in the bed where you drilled the hole. You can then route the other end under the truck and connect it to your existing 7-Way. Th
