Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Ford Edge

Today in our 2007 Ford Edge we're going to install the hidden hitch part number 87433. Before we can put our hitch in place we need to go ahead and lower the exhaust. Before I lower the exhaust I want to install a safety hanger to support the exhaust after we remove the hangers. Now we have three rubber hangers that we need to remove so that we can lower the exhaust. To remove the rubber hangers it's best to take some spraying lubricant and spray down each one of the hangers first. Now we can take our pry bar push the rubber isolators off the hanger.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Ford Edge

There are three rubber hangers we need to remove from the exhaust system to lower it. Also we are going to use a strap to hold the exhaust system so it does not fall down and damage anything else on the exhaust system. To take off the rubber hangers we are going to spray them down with some lubricant to help make removing them a little easier. With the hangers disconnected we will use our strap to lower it safely out of the way. 00:52

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Ford Edge

Today on this 2009 Ford Edge we are going to be installing hitch part number 75526. This application will also apply for Hidden Hitch part number 87433. Okay we are underneath the vehicle and before we can get started we need to go ahead and lower the exhaust down and get it out of the way. There are three hangers located here at the rear of the vehicle that we need to remove the exhaust off of. One here on the drivers side, one here at the center of the vehicle, and one hereon the passengers side. Before I do remove all three hangers from the exhaust I want to make sure I support the center exhaust tube here. Once we remove the exhaust from its hangers the exhaust could fall and damage itself. I am just going to take a basic ratchet strap here and just hang it from the suspension enough to support the exhaust tube here. We want to just spray the stud here down with a spray lubricant like a WD-40. Then we can just use a crowbar and try to get behind there and pry it off.

  • Is There a 2-5/16 inch ball Available for a Class II Ball Mount
  • I wish I had an easier solution for you, but it looks like the only solution you have would be to install a different coupler on your trailer. There are no 2-5/16 inch balls that we carry that have a 3/4 inch shaft diameter. I attached a page that has all of the couplers we carry. Email me back with a pic of your coupler and I will help you pick one out.
