Hopkins Endurance Fifth Wheel Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Dodge Ram Pickup

All right, today on this 2011 Dodge Ram pickup, 3500 series crew cab, we're going to install part number 41157. This is a Hopkins Endurancefifth wheel wiring harness, with a seven pole connector. OK, to start off our install, we need to find a location for our socket that we're going to install in the bed. Once we have that planned out, we'll go ahead and drill a quarter inch pilot hole Then we'll go back at it with a two inch hole saw OK, once we have our hole made, we'll go ahead and take our wire harness and run it through the hole. Well take the one end with the two connectors and go ahead and push it through the hole, and then let it fall out the bottom, then push the rest of our slack in place. OK, and then we'll save the other end to install into our seven pole connector We'll put some of the supply unintelligible 00:00:49 grease onto the terminals on the inside edge, then snap the two halves together. OK, once we have them together, we can go ahead and put the seven pole connector into the hole. And then we'll go ahead and use the provided hardware to attach it to the bed. Now the hardware is four self-tapping screws and washers. We'll position our seven pole connector, and then install our screws one at a time. We leave them loose until we have them all installed, and then we'll go ahead and tighten them down for good. All right, now go underneath the bed of the truck, and we'll go ahead and route our wire harness towards the bumper and towards the back side of the bumper where pre-existing seven pole connector is. Now we need to go ahead and disconnect the seven pole from the wire harness. We'll push down there's a small tab that we need topush down, and then we can go ahead and separate the connector from the wires. We'll let that go for now, and then we'll go ahead and take our new Hopkins wire harness and we'll get it ready to plug in the two halves. We'll go ahead and add the remainder of the unintelligible00:01:41grease on the terminals, and then just plug the two matching ends together. Again , we want to make sure everything remains snapped, so we know we're secure. OK, then we'll go ahead and take our extra length of wire and go ahead and route them up and out of the way, and secure them with some zip ties. One last thing is the white wire from the ring terminal. We need to ground that to the frame, so we'll go ahead and use a self-tapping screw to do that. In this case, we'll be using a number fourteen self-tapping screw. And with that, that will finish up our install of the Hopkins Endurance fifth wheel ninety degree wiring harness, with the seven pole plug, on our 2011 Dodge Ram pickup, 3500 series truck. .

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup

Today on our 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup we'll be installing the Tow Ready Four Pole Hardware Kit with Insulated Butt connectors, part number 20250. Now this vehicle is already equipped with a manufacturer's four pole connection. But, as we remove the cap, you'll notice that it's severely corroded and the terminals are starting to breakdown. So we're going to go ahead and cut off the old manufacturer's four pole connection, and then we can hardwire in a new four pole lead. Our new four pole will match color for color, except for the ground wire, which will be black on the manufacturer's side and white on the new four pole lead side. To make easier access now that we've got the end cut off, we'll go ahead and remove the push pin that secure the wiring. Next we'll go ahead and remove the wire loom and any protective covering. We just need a little room to work so we can add our butt connectors. Next, we'll strip back each one of the wires. Now with each wire stripped back, we'll go ahead and add the butt connector. With our butt connectors added, we'll now bring in our four pole lead and match color for color with the exception of our ground wire which we will match black to white. Then we'll go ahead and and wrap up this connection point with some black electrical tape to help keep out any dust, dirt, debris, or moisture. Now with our connection point secure, we'll go ahead and reinstall the push pin fastener and route the wiring to the center of the vehicle and to the hitch. Note we'll secure any wiring as necessary with additional black zip ties, and will cut off the excess of the zip tie to clean up our install look. That does complete our install of the Tow Ready Four Pole Hardware Kit with Insulated connectors, part number 20250, on our 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup.

Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Dodge Ram

Today on our 2010 Dodge Ram pickup, we'll be installing the Pollak fifth wheel gooseneck T connector, part number PK11893-11932. First, let's go ahead and identity where we'll be mounting our 7-pole. Here on the inside of the bed, just behind the driver side wheel well, is a great location. Now before drilling out the large hole, we'll go ahead and use a smaller bit for a pilot hole, and then double check the location. Next, we'll go ahead and drill it out to the larger size, using our larger hole saw bit as per the instructions. Now with the hole drilled out, we're ready to go ahead and start routing our wire.

Well go ahead and drill out using the two inch hole saw as recommended per the instructions. Now with the large hole drilled out, well go ahead and feed half of our T-connector through the hole then our other plug followed by the remainder of the wire until our 7-pole mounts flush with the bed. Then using the self-tapping screws provided with our install kit, we can go ahead and secure the 7-pole plug to the bed side. Next well get underneath the vehicle and start routing our wire over to the back of the bumper where the manufacturers wiring meets the bumper. Here at the back of the bumper, well go ahead and disconnect the manufacturers wiring from the back of the 7-pole plug at the bumper.

Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Dodge Ram Dually

Today on our 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 dual rear wheel, we'll be installing the Pollak fifth wheel goose neck T-connector with seven pull, part number PK11893-11932. First, we'll go ahead and locate a suitable location for our new seven pull connector. Here, just behind the rear wheel on the driver's side is a common position. Go ahead and locate the area, check underneath to make sure there are no obstructions, and then we'll go ahead and use a small pilot hole and drill it out. This will allow us to again get underneath and double check where the pilot hole location is and correspond it's where our seven pull connector will be. With that done, we can now go ahead and take the hole saw and cut out the larger hole to fit the seven pull connector.

Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Dodge Ram

Today on our 2012 Dodge Ram 2500, we are going to be installing the Pollock fifth wheel and gooseneck T-Connector with seven-pole wiring part number PK11893-11932. First, we need to begin by finding a suitable location for our seven-pole in the bed. Just here past the cut out in the bed behind the drivers side wheel well is where we are going to mount our sub pole connector. First step will be drilling a pilot hole. Ill take my eight-inch bit which will be the same as the pilot hole for hole saw that we will need to cut out. Now I can go underneath and check to make sure its not going to run into anything.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Dodge Ram

First well need to locate a suitable spot for installing the connector in the truck bed. Then Ill take a pilot bit and run it through the bed and double check my location. Were going to go ahead and take a quarter inch bit which will be the same size as my pilot bit for my hole saw and drill out the hole. Now with my hole drilled out well go ahead and take the hole saw and make it large enough for the connector to fit through. With the large hole drilled out we can now take the wiring harness and feed it from underneath through the hole.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2001 Dodge Ram

Today on this 2001 Dodge Ram pickup 1500 were gonna install part number 118329 from Tow Ready. This is a 4-pole wiring harness. Alright well go ahead and show you where the connection points are if were looking at the driver side of the vehicle it will be right behind the bumper and this is our first connection point right here. inaudible you got to push in that way and you can pull it apart. inaudible the 2 pieces well install the T-connector with the yellow wire, then well route this wire and the 4-pole wire over to the center of the hitch. Well do that by following the factory wire harness inaudible with the green wire and were now on over to the other side.

Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Today on this 2004 Dodge 3500, we are going to install the pre-wired fifth wheel trailer connect that mounts in the pickup bed, part number 51-97-411. Start by looking for a spot to install our assembly connector. We are going to mount ours here, just behind the wheel well in the pickup bed. Using a 1/4 inch bit we will make a pilot hole so that we can use our hole saw bit to drill out a 2 inch hole so that we can mount our connector. Now you can leave your drill bit in the hole, go underneath and check to make sure you have enough clearance to fit your 7 way wiring through. Now we will go ahead and drill it out with our 2 inch hole saw bit.

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Today on this 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 we are going to install part number 20250 from Tow Ready. What the part number is is it replaces the 4-pole. We are going to use it to replace the very corroded Dodge factory connector. Basically we are going to start off by snipping off the old wires and starting fresh. Now this will almost match up color for color: green to green, yellow to yellow, brown to brown. However, the ground on the factory harness is going to be black. So that will go to white on our replacement part. 0:28

Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter Installation - 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Today we are going to install part number 37185 on an 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. And this has the factory 4-pole installed with the vehicle, from the factory. What we are going to do is upgrade this up from a 4-pole to a 7-pole and 4-pole combination. And we are going to start by using this factory cut-out here for the 7-pole itself. It is actually just a cover. It just pops off, and we can install our 7-pole adapter right there. Before we install this into the bumper, we have to do one little modification, because the bumper is just a little bit too small. Basically we are just going to grind the little edge off here, just about 1 inch on the passenger side - just enough to help it pop into place, right here. Go ahead and install it. There it is, just enough room to snap into place. Then we will put our four bolts in to hold it secure.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500
  • For a wiring kit that would install in your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 I recommend the Curt Wiring Harness part # C55504, which you referenced. This harness plugs inline with your truck's taillights to provide you with a fully functional 4-way. Basically you would just need to unplug your taillight harnesses, plug the harness into the connector of the # C55504 and then plug the other end of the harness into the taillight assembly. • Parts Needed to Bypass the Factory Trailer Wiring of a 2005 Dodge Ram
  • The trailer wiring circuits on the mid 2000's Dodge trucks had some interesting issues. The easiest way to deal with them is to bypass the factory trailer wiring. To do this with a 7-way like you said you have on your truck you will first need to start with a 4-way. For that you will need the part # C55504. Now if all you need is taillight functions and your trailer does not have brakes all you would need to convert this to a 7-way is the part # 37185. If you do have trailer brakes...

  • Gooseneck/5th Wheel Trailer Wiring for the Bed of a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500
  • I recommend going with a gooseneck wiring harness that has a 90 degree bend. The reason for this is because it makes installation easier because on some trucks there isn't a lot of space between the inner and outer bed side walls. Having an extra ground wire is not a bad thing. It helps ensure that the harness has a good ground connection. With that said you can't really go wrong with Bargman harness # 51-97-411. I have linked a video to the right that shows how it installs. For a...

This harness will bypass all that nonsense and will give you a 4-way harness. If you are looking to use a 7-way trailer harness what you could do is cut the 4-way off of the # 119190, and then cut the harness of your factory 7-way and wire up the wires of the 4-way to the correct pin locations on your 7-way. Otherwise you are running all of the tail light wires and 4-Way to the back of the vehicle which would require a lot of extra wire.

  • Will Trailer Wiring Harness # 119177 Fit a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500
  • You could use trailer wiring harness # 119177KIT if you needed a 5-Way flat trailer connector. However the 5th function is not for trailer brakes it is made for use with a trailer that has an electric reverse lock out on a surge coupler. When the vehicle is put in reverse it sends power to the solenoid which does not allow brake fluid to go back to the trailer brakes so the trailer can back up without the brakes engaging. • On the Tow Ready Wiring, # 119190KIT, the 15.9 capacity comes from the maximum taillight rating of 7.5 amps and the maximum stop/turn light rating of 4.2 amps per side. Using two Modulites will not give you any more capacity on your 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 because they will both need to be wired inline to your vehicles electrical system, so the vehicles electrical system will still be handling all the current. Your 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 is listed to use the Draw-Tite Wiring, # 119178KIT,...
