Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2001 Dodge Ram Pickup
Today on our 2001 Dodge Ram pickup, we're going to review an install, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number C55329. Now to begin our install, we need to find the wiring behind the tail light assemblies. Behind the driver's side tail light assembly and just below the pickup bed is the manufacturers wiring that goes into the tail light assembly. We need to separate these two connectors. To do that, we'll press on the locking tab and simply separate the two. Next, we'll move over to the passenger side and repeat the same process. We're now ready to begin installing the new Curt T-connector wiring harness. On the passenger's side, we're going to use the white and green wire T-connector.

Today on our 2003 Dodge Ram pickup, we'll be installing the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-degree wiring harness with 7-pole trailer connector, part number HM42137. To begin our install, we're going to start in the pickup bed. We're going to find a suitable mounting location for our 7-pole plug. Once we find our location, which we're going to go here in the pickup bed side wall behind the wheel well and in front of the rear stake pocket, then we can take our hole saw and drill out our 2 1/8" hole as per the instructions. Once we have the hole drilled out, we can move underneath the vehicle and feed our 7-pole connector up through the hole. Another option while you're already in the pickup bed, is to take the vehicle connection end or T-connector and feed it down.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup
Today on our 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 Series Quad Cab we're going to be installing the Hopkins Endurance Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with a seven-pull plug. Part number HM42137. To being with, we're going to need to choose a location in our bed to mount our seven-way plug. Now we've already gone ahead and checked underneath the bed to see where we drill our hole to make sure that there's nothing behind it that could be damaged. Now, with this being a short bed and it having a bed liner, we will need to do some extra trimming on the bed liner to allow our seven-way plug to fit against the metal. We'll go ahead and first use our hold saw to drill our hole for the plug itself. Next we're going to need to trim some of the extra bed liner away. Go ahead and put our thing up in there, make a couple marks.

To start off, we'll get in the bed of the truck and we'll go ahead and find a location for our 7 pole connector. This is largely a personal preference. In this case, we're going to go ahead and mount it towards the tailgate. Once we're satisfied with our location, we'll go ahead and drill out the quarter inch pilot hole. Then, we'll go back at it with the hole saw.
Hopkins Endurance Fifth Wheel Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Dodge Ram Pickup
All right, today on this 2011 Dodge Ram pickup, 3500 series crew cab, we're going to install part number 41157. This is a Hopkins Endurancefifth wheel wiring harness, with a seven pole connector. OK, to start off our install, we need to find a location for our socket that we're going to install in the bed. Once we have that planned out, we'll go ahead and drill a quarter inch pilot hole Then we'll go back at it with a two inch hole saw OK, once we have our hole made, we'll go ahead and take our wire harness and run it through the hole. Well take the one end with the two connectors and go ahead and push it through the hole, and then let it fall out the bottom, then push the rest of our slack in place. OK, and then we'll save the other end to install into our seven pole connector We'll put some of the supply unintelligible 00:00:49 grease onto the terminals on the inside edge, then snap the two halves together. OK, once we have them together, we can go ahead and put the seven pole connector into the hole. And then we'll go ahead and use the provided hardware to attach it to the bed. Now the hardware is four self-tapping screws and washers. We'll position our seven pole connector, and then install our screws one at a time. We leave them loose until we have them all installed, and then we'll go ahead and tighten them down for good. All right, now go underneath the bed of the truck, and we'll go ahead and route our wire harness towards the bumper and towards the back side of the bumper where pre-existing seven pole connector is. Now we need to go ahead and disconnect the seven pole from the wire harness. We'll push down there's a small tab that we need topush down, and then we can go ahead and separate the connector from the wires. We'll let that go for now, and then we'll go ahead and take our new Hopkins wire harness and we'll get it ready to plug in the two halves. We'll go ahead and add the remainder of the unintelligible00:01:41grease on the terminals, and then just plug the two matching ends together. Again , we want to make sure everything remains snapped, so we know we're secure. OK, then we'll go ahead and take our extra length of wire and go ahead and route them up and out of the way, and secure them with some zip ties. One last thing is the white wire from the ring terminal. We need to ground that to the frame, so we'll go ahead and use a self-tapping screw to do that. In this case, we'll be using a number fourteen self-tapping screw. And with that, that will finish up our install of the Hopkins Endurance fifth wheel ninety degree wiring harness, with the seven pole plug, on our 2011 Dodge Ram pickup, 3500 series truck. .
Today on our 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup we'll be installing the Tow Ready Four Pole Hardware Kit with Insulated Butt connectors, part number 20250. Now this vehicle is already equipped with a manufacturer's four pole connection. But, as we remove the cap, you'll notice that it's severely corroded and the terminals are starting to breakdown. So we're going to go ahead and cut off the old manufacturer's four pole connection, and then we can hardwire in a new four pole lead. Our new four pole will match color for color, except for the ground wire, which will be black on the manufacturer's side and white on the new four pole lead side. To make easier access now that we've got the end cut off, we'll go ahead and remove the push pin that secure the wiring. Next we'll go ahead and remove the wire loom and any protective covering. We just need a little room to work so we can add our butt connectors. Next, we'll strip back each one of the wires. Now with each wire stripped back, we'll go ahead and add the butt connector. With our butt connectors added, we'll now bring in our four pole lead and match color for color with the exception of our ground wire which we will match black to white. Then we'll go ahead and and wrap up this connection point with some black electrical tape to help keep out any dust, dirt, debris, or moisture. Now with our connection point secure, we'll go ahead and reinstall the push pin fastener and route the wiring to the center of the vehicle and to the hitch. Note we'll secure any wiring as necessary with additional black zip ties, and will cut off the excess of the zip tie to clean up our install look. That does complete our install of the Tow Ready Four Pole Hardware Kit with Insulated connectors, part number 20250, on our 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup.

Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter Installation - 2006 Dodge Ram 1500
Today we are going to install part number 37185 on an 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. And this has the factory 4-pole installed with the vehicle, from the factory. What we are going to do is upgrade this up from a 4-pole to a 7-pole and 4-pole combination. And we are going to start by using this factory cut-out here for the 7-pole itself. It is actually just a cover. It just pops off, and we can install our 7-pole adapter right there. Before we install this into the bumper, we have to do one little modification, because the bumper is just a little bit too small. Basically we are just going to grind the little edge off here, just about 1 inch on the passenger side - just enough to help it pop into place, right here. Go ahead and install it. There it is, just enough room to snap into place. Then we will put our four bolts in to hold it secure.
