Now to begin our installation, we'll need to remove the spare tire from the vehicle. Once we've done that, we'll now place our hitch into position here on the rear bumper.

On the driver side we will be using these two bolts here which are connected together as well as this bolt here forward of those two.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Dodge Durango - Curt

Today on our 2006 Dodge Durango well be installing the Curt hitch, part number 13072. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch such as a draw bar, a bike rack, or a cargo carrier. The center of the hitch pin hole is even with the outer most edge of the bumper and from the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 21 inches. Now lets go ahead with the installation. Note first before we can begin installing the hitch well need to go ahead and lower and remove the spare tire which weve already done.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Dodge Durango

Today on this 2003 Dodge Durango we are going to be installing Hidden Hitch part number 87522, and this installation will also apply to Draw-Tite Hitch part number 757081. Before we get started with our installation we are going to give you a couple of final install dimensions which will help make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the top of the receiver opening to the ground is going to measure 18 inches, and from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to measure approximately 3 inches, and now we'll go ahead and move on to the installation. We'll get up underneath the vehicle and the first thing that we've done is lower the spare tire down just a little bit. Just enough where if you need to manipulate the hitch around it you can.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Dodge Durango

Today on this 2007 Dodge Durango we will be installing Curt hitch part number 13296. The first thing we want to do in preparation to installing our hitch is to remove the spare tire to get it out of our way. Looking at the driver side frame rail at the inboard side we have got two attach bolts here and one free bolt here on the forward side. We are going to need to remove the two here at the rear of the vehicle and the third one we are actually just going to remove the nut from the outboard side. We are going to reuse this bolt for our hitch installation and that will be the same for the passenger side as well. For the forward bolt we just want to push it through. You can see they will not fully come out because it is hitting on the body mount here. We want to push it back far enough to where the bolt sits about even with the flange here at the bottom side of the bumper bracket. At the two rear most attaching points we are going to be putting in new bolts along with the flat washer. We just want to slide those through just about the same position as the forward most fastener. 01:00

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Dodge Durango

Today on an 2006 Dodge Durango we are going to install part number 75162 from Draw-Tite. The hitch mounts actually to the bumper structure underneath the bumper cover so what we are going to to do is loosen up the bumper cover to get access to the bumper structure itself. Now I will take a block of wood and we will just put up it in between the bumper structure and the fascia so we will have a little more working room and then we will start working on cutting out the Styrofoam. We will go ahead and put the hitch up into position to give us an idea of where it is going to go.00:27

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Dodge Durango

Today on this 2005 Dodge Durango we will be installing Hidden Hitch part number 87562. This installation will also apply for Draw-Tite part number 75162. We are underneath the vehicle, the first thing you want to do in preparation is to remove the spare tire and get it out of the way. Secondly, we are going to remove the fascia support straps here at the bottom of the bumper which will allow us to have a little more working room around the cross tube of the vehicle we are attaching to. :29

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2000 Dodge Durango

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number V81600 on a 2000 Dodge Durango. The first thing you want to do is to go ahead and remove your spare tire. That will give you a lot more room to get the hitch up into place. We are underneath the vehicle now and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. There are three attaching points on the passengers side and there are four on the drivers side. So the first thing we want to do is to go ahead and put all the hardware into place. It will consist of carriage bolts and blocks for most of the locations. On the mounting locations for the vertical tabs on each side there is actually a carriage slot built into the trailer hitch, so that we do not need a block in those locations - we only need a carriage bolt. For the two here on the drivers side I am actually going to use the fish wire that was provided in the installation kit. We are going to feed that up through the hole and then out through the larger hole here in the side of the frame. I am just going to wrap that around our carriage bolt and then pull that down into position. Then another carriage bolt and block here in the crossmember. And then we can go ahead and put the hitch up into position.

The Curt only has the curved cross tube that comes down and is visible. For trailer wiring you would want the Curt Harness part # C56198.
