Trailer Hitch Installation - 2004 Acura MDX
Today on this 2004 Acura MDX we are going to be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 75599. This installation will also apply for Hidden Hitch part number 87454. There is a couple of things we need to do before we can install our trailer hitch. I have taken the spare tire down to give us a little bit more working room. On the MDX we have got this rear fascia piece that is going to need to come off so the hitch sits up properly. If you come to the inboard side of the fascia piece you can see we have got multiple fasteners holding it into place. There are three push pin connectors. To remove the push pin connectors what we are going to do is take a flat head screwdriver and just slide it into the notch and what we are doing is removing the center section. There are four hex head screws. 00:56
Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Acura MDX
Today on this 2010 Acura MDX we are going to install part number 13354 from Curt. First thing we need to do to get started is lower the spare tire. It makes everything a lot easier to thread the bolts in and tighten them down. The next thing we want to do is lower the exhaust. There is going to be two rubber hangers on each muffler so we are going to spray them down with some lubricant and then pry them off any way we can and then we will get to installing the hitch. You will notice that when we took down the first bumper hanger it came down pretty good already so it might be a good idea to run a strap around the exhaust components to keep them from falling down. Lets move on over to the rubber hanger. Spray it down and remove it. 00:38

We are underneath the vehicle, looking at the passenger side frame rail. I am going to go ahead and point out the mounting holes that we are going to be using to install the trailer hitch. As you can see here, we have three existing weld nuts here at the end of the frame, we will be using these three as our attaching points for our trailer hitch. :24
Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Acura MDX
Today on this 2008 Acura MDX we are going to install part number 87474 from Hidden Hitch. This will also apply to part number 75614 from Draw-Tite. The first step involved is to lower the spare tire and we have that done already so you have a lot of room. You can already see the attaching points on the frame. The next thing we need to do is lower the exhaust because there is not quite enough room to work the hitch up in there. So lower the exhaust next and then the heat shields that are above the exhaust, we will take those down too. All of this will go back up once the hitch is installed. For the lowering of the exhaust what we are going to do is put a strap across the exhaust pipes themselves so when we lower them we can do it in a controlled manner so we do not do any damage to the exhaust system. 00:42
If you have been considering installing a hitch on your MDX for a trailer, bike rack or cargo carrier we will show you how easy it is. Some may back off when they see the instructions call for lowering the exhaust and removing the heat shield. You can do this! The video will show you how and you will save so much money doing this on your own
