Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Ford Taurus - Curt
Today on this 2012 Ford Taurus, we're going to install part number 13552 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like once installed on the car. Next, we'll give you some measurements that will help you out in selecting some accessories. From the top of the receiver opening down the ground will be 12-1/2 inches and from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper will be 6 inches. Now, we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. The first thing we're going to do is go ahead and put a piece of strap to help support the exhaust when we lower it.
Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack Installation - 2012 Ford Taurus
Today were working with a 2012 Ford Taurus and well be test fitting a Yakima Roof Rack System. Well be using the 58-inch round crossbars part number Y00409, the Q clips associated with this vehicle Y00634 and Y00716 as well as the Q Towers part number Y00124. Now weve already assembled our roof rack according to the instructions and ready to mount it up on our vehicle. The first thing we need to do is open the driver and passenger side front doors. Well take our front bar assembly and set it up on top of the roof. To position it properly, we need to measure 11 inches from the edge of the glass on our windshield to the leading edge of the Q tower on either side of the vehicle.
Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2012 Ford Taurus
Today on our 2012 Ford Taurus well be test fitting the Yakima fork Lift roof mounted bike carrier, part number Y02098. To mount our carrier to the vehicle well first sit it up on top of our load bars. Well fit the clamp on the underside of the head around our crossbar and tighten it down using the T-bolt and wing nut. Then we can reinstall our hardware cover and reinstall our skewer. At the rear of the bike rack well fit the rear clamp around our bar and again use the T-bolt and wing nut to tighten it down. We also want to make sure that our wheel strap is open so that we can go ahead and load our bike.
Yakima Roof Rack Fairing Review - 2012 Ford Taurus
Today, we're working with the 2012 Ford Taurus and will be test fitting the Yakima 44-inch Fairing for Yakima Roof Racks, part number Y0748. To man our fairing to the roof rack, we'll simply fit all four of the clips over our front cross bar. We do want to make sure that the fairing is centered from left to right, in-between the towers, then we'll come back and use the carriage bolt and wing nuts to secure the outer two clamps on either side. With that done, our fairings installed and we can hit the rood with much less roof rack noise. That's it for our test fit of the Yakima 44-inch Fairing for Yakima Roof Racks, part number Y0748 on the 2012 Ford Taurus.
RockyMounts PitchFork Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 Ford Taurus
Today, we're working with the 2012 Ford Taurus and we'll be test fitting the Rocky Mounts PitchFork Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, part number RKY0438. Now, our bike carrier's already assembled, so we're ready to put it up to the vehicle. We'll sit the carrier up on top of our cross bars and fit the front clamp on our front bar, we'll then use an alloy key to tighten the clamp using the two alum bolts in the head, then we can re-install our skewer on our front cover. We'll also make sure that our skewer is already open, so we're ready to load the bike. At the rear of the carrier, we'll fit the plastic clamper under rear cross bar and use the wing knot to tighten it to a rear bar, then we'll also make sure that our wheel strap is open and now, we're ready to load a bike. We'll pick up our bike, sit the rear wheel into the tray and fit the front fork down into the skewer.
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Ford Taurus
Today, on this 2012 Ford Taurus, we're going to install part number 118493 from Tow Ready.First thing you need to do is open up the trunk and take your threshold here with pull up on it to pop it out loose thn we are going to loosen up the liner on each side. Now we can go ahead and start our install of the wires. This is our wire harness going to the tail light, we'll disconnect it and with our T-connector with the green and red wires, we'll hook those up with the other half of the harness of the tail light and plug it back on the other side.Then we'll take the ground wire and attach it with this sector ground wire here. We'll go ahead and clean up the spot for our module which is a sheet metal right here. We'll leave that alone for now and we'll take the yellow wire, we'll route it to the other side and we'll make a connection point over there. Alright at this point we'll go ahead and reinstall our interior panels.

Now to put it in the correct spot on the roof we need to measure up from the windshield to the leading edge of the foot pack. Now always go by your instructions, however, in this case well be using the measurement of 11 inches.
Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack Review - 2012 Ford Taurus
Alright, today on this 2012 Ford Taurus, were going to do a test fit of the Yakima FrontLoader Bike Carrier, part number Y02103. Now, the vehicle has already been equipped with the Yakima Roof Rack System so all we got to do is go ahead and put our bicycle carrier on the roof rack. Well take a bike rack and well set it down on the front crossbar and then adjust the rear clamp for the second crossbar. Well go ahead and leave our rear clamp loosely installed and well go ahead and tighten up the clamp going towards the front first. Now, we can go ahead and move on to the rear clamp, tighten it down, and well double check to make sure the rack is sitting square with the car and thats all it takes to install the bike rack. At this point, we can go ahead and load up the bike.
