  • The forward edge of the step platform on the HitchMate Extendable TruckStep for 2-inch Hitches, part # HE4045, will extend 23-1/2 inches beyond the end of the hitch receiver. You can determine exactly where the 9-inch-wide x 6-inch-deep step will be relative to the edge of your open tailgate by measuring 23-1/2 inches back from your hitch receiver. Since this is the point where the front edge of the step will be, the rear edge of the step will reach back an additional 6 inches behind that po

  • Do Wiring or Brakes have to be Modified to Use Blue Ox Patriot Braking System on a 2012 Ford F-150
  • On your 2012 Ford F-150 you should not have to modify the wiring or the braking system to use the Patriot # BRK2012. Since your truck uses a combined lighting system (turn signals and brake lights are on the same circuit) you will not need a brake light relay. For specific information on flat towing your truck be sure to consult the owners manual in the recreational towing section. I have included a link to our FAQ article on supplemental braking systems for you to view.

  • What Can Cause Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution L-Brackets to Bend
  • Sharp turns combined with too much weight for the system and L-brackets that are very tight can cause the brackets to bend. Make sure that the trailer weight does not exceed the capacity of your system and that the spring bar hangers are positioned the correct distance from the ball as indicated in the instructions for your system. Be sure to check the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to to and then add the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle t

  • Trailer Hitch Extension for Bike Rack to Clear the Door on a Truck Bed Camper in a 2012 Ford F-150
  • When calculating tongue weight you have to go with everything that is in the hitch receiver. In this case it would be the bike rack and bikes as well. However, the use of an extension will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. The combined weight of the bike rack and bikes cannot exceed half the tongue weight capacity as indicated on the trailer hitch. If you will be under the reduced capacity then you can use extension # RP11006. If you will be over the capacity then

  • Backup Alerts for a 2012 Ford F-150 and 2005 Toyota Tacoma
  • The 2012 Ford F-150 most likely uses a 921 reverse light bulb. The 2005 Toyota Tacoma uses the same bulb. A back up alert that fits into the light socket is not available in this bulb size. But I do have something that you can use on either vehicle. You can use the surface mount back up alarm, # BK97DB. It attaches under the vehicle and will wire into the reverse light circuit.

  • Suspension System for a 2012 F-150 Crew Cab 6 Foot Bed and Tool Box with 700 Lbs Tools
  • The Super Springs additional leaf springs, # SSA28, would be the best option to add support and sway control to your existing OEM suspension, since you have a constant 700 lb load on your truck. This system will also help decrease the bouncing that you are getting when the vehicle suspension is temporarily unloaded because of a large bump or pothole. There would be no reason that you would have to remove the Timbren springs and they will be there for additional support at times when you have to

  • Is There an Advantage to Installing 3000 lb SuperSprings over 2000 lb SuperSprings on a 2012 F-150
  • As long as the gross vehicle weight (GVW) of your 2012 Ford F-150 does not exceed 7,500 lbs, then you will be fine installing the 2,000 lb SuperSprings, # SSA5MTKT. The important thing to consider when you are choosing between the 2,000 lb SuperSprings or the 3,000 lb SuperSprings, # SSA28, is the GVW of your truck when it is fully loaded and hooked to your trailer.
