  • How Does Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30142 Simplify Hook-Up on Uneven Ground
  • The Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 18K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # RP30142, and the similar 25K-rated # RP30143, both offer a 4-way pivoting head with extra-wide 9-inch funnel and height adjustment to ease hitching your 5th wheel on uneven ground. Both also include a wiring harness for your 5th wheel that uses a T-connector to plug into your factory tow package 7-way. Written instructions for both hitches are provided. Both are intended for use with the Reese below-bed rail kit, part #

  • What Tire Covers Would are Recommended for ST225/75 R15 Tires
  • My contacts at Classic Accessories have confirmed that the best fit for your trailer tire with at size of ST225/75 R15 would be the Classic Accessories Covers Model 3 Part # 052963762501. The cover that you mentioned above would most likely be a little too small for your tires. Please note that these covers are sold in pairs, so if you have a double axle trailer you might want to order 2 pairs for a total of 4 covers.

  • Is Drilling Required to Install the Peak Wireless Back Up Camera Transmitter in a Truck Cab
  • You might not have to drill a hole if you route the wiring for the transmitter under the truck and through the firewall. There may be an existing entry point that you can use to push the wire through. Otherwise you would have to drill a hole (careful not to drill through anything important on the other side). You may end up needing the extension cable # PKCORD to reach the truck cab. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you. If you do end up having to drill a n

  • Comparing Draw-Tite and Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitches for a 2012 Ford F-150 4wd 5.0
  • All of the front mount trailer hitch options for a 2012 Ford F-150, see link, will be just under the front fascia on the truck once installed. There is no advantage of one over another in regards to ground clearance. All of the hitches have the same capacity ratings as well; 500 pounds vertical (link tongue weight) and 9,000 pounds line pull. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite products are quality hitches and you really cannot go wrong with either one. The main difference is that on Curt hitch # 313

  • Installing a Brake Controller on a 2012 Ford F-150 with a Factory 4-Way Trailer Connector
  • Technically, installing a brake controller on a 2012 Ford F-150 with a 4-Way is a hardwire installation. But you may not have to do a complete hardwire install. If you follow your 4-Way flat wiring harness back, it should plug into another connector. This forward connector has more wires going into it than coming out. Pull back the covering to get to the wires and use a circuit tester, like # 3808 if needed, to test them. There should be a wire with 12 volt power and a another that would carry t

  • Can a P2 Trailer Brake Controller from a 1998 Ford F-150 Be Used in a Rental 2012 Ford F-150
  • The 1998 Ford F-150 and 2012 F-150 do not use the same wiring harness (a 2012 would use # 22292). Because you would have to put holes in the dash of the truck to mount the controller, it is probably not something the rental place will let you do. But if they allow you to or can find a factory screw to mount the controller mounting bracket to then it could work. Another option is to use the Prodigy RF, # 90250, which mounts on the trailer so you will not have to modify the rental truck at all.

  • I have a solution so you will be able to incorporate both the tonneau cover and toolbox without interfering with your TracRac G2 you currently have installed. According to my contact at TracRac, the system you have in place was designed to install into the truck the way it is and will not work if you flip the rails. Truxedo does have an answer for your 2012 F-150 truck. The TruXedo TonneauMate Truck Bed ToolBox # TX1117416-457 will work in your truck - it comes with a special clamp kit sp

  • Can Timbren Suspension Kit # TFR1504D Be Added to a 2012 Ford F-150 That Has a Lift Kit
  • I spoke with with my technical contact at Timbren and he informed me the Timbren Rear Suspension System # TRF1504D that you want to install on your 2012 Ford F-150 will work in conjunction with your current lift leveling kit. The # TRF1504D comes with spacers which should work in your application, however, he told me that if you still see that you have room in between the bottom of the rubber spring and axle, that you will need an additional spacer such as Timbren 1 inch spacer # A25723-90AH

  • 18K Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Recommendation for a 2012 Ford F350 with Hitch Prep
  • Since you already have the under-bed rails in your 2012 Ford F350 all you need is an Elite series hitch and you will be ready to tow. If you have a long bed you would want a Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30142, if you have a short bed you would want a Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider # RP30144. Short bed trucks do not usually have the clearance needed to make 90 degree turns unless a slider hitch is used. That is why I recommended th

  • Will the Brophy Camper Tie Downs # TDSF Fit a 2013 Ford F150
  • The Stake Pocket Mount Camper Tie Downs, # TDSF, are a universal fit item intended to fit as many trucks as possible. But there is no fit guide available stating which trucks are compatible. It is still very likely that they will fit your 2013 Ford F-150. These should clear the sides of your box and eliminate the rubbing you are experiencing. • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a Carbon Frame Bike and 2012 Ford Escape
  • Most owners of carbon frame bikes shy away from hanging style racks for the reasons you are concerned about. It is possible with any rack that it could scuff or otherwise damage the carbon frame. If you are going to go with a hanging style bike rack I recommend the Thule Helium Aero, # TH9042. It has advanced cradles with road dampening technology and soft surfaces that are much less likely to damage a carbon frame. The straps have been re-designed to prevent over tightening which can also damag

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kit for a 2012 Ford F-150 Crew Cab w/5-1/2 Foot Bed
  • If the rear gross axle weight rating is 3,850 pounds, you need to stay below that. Allowing a little cushion room would be ideal. If it were me I would look at no more than 3,500 pounds. You actually cannot use a sliding 5th wheel hitch. On a 5-1/2 foot bed you HAVE to use a stationary hitch and a Sidewinder to get the extra clearance needed to make tight turns. First you will need an installation kit. You can use # RP30080. I have linked the instructions and a video showing a typical in

  • Parts Needed to Install a Reese 20k Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch in a 2012 Ford F350SD with 8 ft Bed

  • Weight Distribution/Sway Control for Travel Trailer w/1,460 lbs Tongue Weight and 2012 Ford F-250
  • Since the trailer tongue weight is so high and you have a 2-1/2 inch trailer hitch, I recommend Strait-Line Weight Distribution system, # RP66075. This system has a tongue weight capacity range of 1,000 to 1,700 pounds. The problem is that you may have to modify or remove the items on the trailer tongue, primarily the chest and platform the battery is setting on in order to use the system. The lift brackets on this system will be centered 30 inches back from the center of the ball cavity on t

  • Does Using a Single Leaf Double-Eye Trailer Spring Allow for a Smoother Ride
  • If the other spring has the same capacity as # TE30, rated for 3,000 pounds, then you will not experience any difference in ride quality. One thing to consider is if the springs are mounted on top of the axle, going to a single leaf spring like TE30 will cause the deck of the trailer to sit lower. I have included a link to our FAQ article on double-eye trailer suspension for you.

  • Will the Thule Raceway 3 Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2012 Ford Focus Hatchback
  • The Thule Raceway # TH9002 does fit the 2012 Ford Focus hatchback. We have not had a hatchback in to make a video yet but it is listed as a fit. I actually own this bike rack and it is the easiest rack to install and remove that I have ever used. On my sons and wifes bikes, we have to use adapter bars, # TH982XT, because they do not have top frame bars that go straight across. The adapters allow the bikes to fit better and provides better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how th

  • Will Bluetooth in a 2012 Ford F-250 Interfere with a Wireless Back Up Camera
  • Any wireless camera system, including # SH02, is susceptible to interference from any other wireless device that operates on 2.4 GHz (like a Bluetooth or in-car internet). Some things that will lessen the likelihood or severity of the interference is an unobstructed path from the camera to the monitor, a short distance between the camera and monitor, and of course turning off anything you can that operates on 2.5 GHz. But I cannot promise you will not still experience interference since the truc

  • Trailer Wiring Harness and Brake Controller Recommendation for 2012 Ford F-150 XL Truck
  • The wiring harness I recommend for your 2012 Ford F-150 XL truck is the Hopkins 4-Pole Adapter # 37185. This item will adapt the 4 pole wiring on your truck to a 7 pole round plug and a 4 pole flat. If you follow the wiring harness for your factory 4 pole, you can locate where the 4 pole plugs into another harness. In this second harness, you can strip back some of the wire loom and there you should see a blue and black (or orange) wire. You will be able to tap the blue and black wire from t

  • Bike Carrying Options for 2012 Ford Mustang Coupe

Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages. Trunk mounted racks typically require a lower initial cost, but they are not compatible with all vehicles. They are best for occasional use because it is not recommended to permanently leave the rack attached to the vehicle. Before installing a trunk mounted bike rack, it is import
