There are a few things we need to do to go ahead and prep the vehicle. What we have done is gone ahead and took off the tires and wheels and supported the axle in the air. Next we are going to work on the jounce stop. This is a jounce stop right here. And there is a bolt on the inside that we have to loosen up and remove. We are going to remove the hardware that is inside here. We are going to remove this bolt on the inside. We put the original factory nut on top and we are just going to tap it right out. Alright, what we are going to do is use this spacer right here. We are just going to put it on top of it. Drop in the metric bolt with the lock washer. Run that all of the way through. And to help keep the bolt pushed in, we are going to use a little extension to help hold everything together. Then we will put this back into the frame. We will use a flat washer and a nut. TruXedo TonneauMate Toolbox Installation - 2011 Chevy Silverado

Today on this 2011 Chevy Silverado we are going to install part number TX1117416-458 from TruXedo. This is TruXedos TonneauMate truck bed toolbox. And this part number also contains a special clamp kit for GM trucks that come with the cargo management systems. First off, this is what the toolbox looks like when installed on the vehicle. And next we will show you the rail system that gets clamped on. You can see how the rail system attaches to the truck bed itself and how it does not interfere with the factory cargo system. As shown here, we have the driver side installed. And we will go ahead and show you how to install the passenger side. The first thing we need to do is loosen up the factory cargo system. In the corner towards the cab there is a plastic cover that has to be removed so we can loosen up the rail. Let us go ahead and do that first. And there are three bolts: one, two and there is our third bolt. So what we will do is go ahead and loosen all of these bolts. We will not remove them because we do not want to lose the assembly that is behind the sheet metal of the bed. Back all of these about an inch on all three of them. Then you can pull the rail back and you can see how much bolt you have left over on the inside. So here you can see the bolt where it goes into the assembly that holds everything together. Just keep loosening it up until you barely have one or two threads showing. That will give us plenty of room to work around it. And these are all three identical on the rail. 1:23

We also want to take and make sure the rear rail is centered in between the wheel wells. :36

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2011 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on this 2011 Chevy Silverado pickup, we are going to be installing the Prodigy P2 brake controller part number 90885. Our 2011 Silverado actually comes with a factory installed brake control wiring package on it already. So, there is no need for use to run the wires manually. The wires that we are looking to wire our brake controller into are located underneath the dash area, just directly above the brake pedal. These wires are open ended and are taped to the main wiring lead. If you locate the wires and pull them out a little bit, you can see that there is actually a label tied to it that indicates which wire is which. And that way you will know that you have the correct wires for the brake controller. So with the wires located, we can go ahead and cut the tape that is holding it to the main wiring harness lead here. And that will allow us to pull it down so we have some more working room. And with those pulled down, we will quickly go over the wires that we have here. We are actually only going to be using four of these wires to hook to our brake controller. And we are going to go ahead and wire those together now. 1:00

The tow package harness will typically have a white tag taped to it that identifies the wire colors. Because you have the ITBC, the install procedure will be a bit different

  • Choosing Between Tekonsha Prodigy P2 and P3 for Farm Trailer with Electric Brakes
  • Both the Prodigy P2 and the P3 are compatible with both electric and electric over hydraulic braking systems. The primary difference between the P2 and the P3 is that the P3 has what I would call a more user-friendly display that will provide diagnostic information about your braking system at a glance. The P2 also provides diagnostic information, but instead of directly spelling out the nature of the problem, the display will provide an error code that you will need to look up in the user ma

  • Will Bestop PowerBoards # B7512615 Fit on 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab
  • We do have a Bestop PowerBoard Motorized Running Board that will fit your 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, but it is not the # B7511315 you referenced as that model is built for older model trucks. I recommend the # B7512615, a product built specifically for your year and model of truck unless it is a diesel motored pickup. This LED-lighted powerboard kit comes with 2 step sides, hardware, wiring harness, motors, and instructions. A 2-inch extension for lifted trucks # B7513015 is sold separate

  • Trimming Front Fascia/Air Dam to Install Front Mount Trailer Hitch on a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500
  • The instructions for installing the Curt 2 Inch Front Hitch # 31322, see link, on a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 do say that you will need to trim the fascia as needed. First, you will install the side plates of the hitch to the vehicles frame rails. Then attach the hitch crossmember to the side plates on the truck. This will show you where the fascia will need to be trimmed to gain access to the hitch receiver tube. The instructions do not show where the fascia has to be trimmed because the

  • Installation of Pollak 7-Way Round Pin Trailer Connector # PK11720 on 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 3500
  • To determine the function of the red wire on your 2011 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD I would recommend to use a circuit tester like the Quickee Tester, part # 3808, to test the wire. Since the vehicle manufacturers can change the factory wire colors over the years it is hard to know the function of the wire without testing it. Sometimes the red wire would be for 12 volt power on the Silverado. The 2011 Silverado will usually come with a factory wiring harness plug on the rear of the truck that will

  • Installing Rhino-Rack Fixed Roof Rack System, Part # Y03-320B, on Truck Cap w/ Carpeted Headliner
  • My contact at Rhino-Rack confirms that the main reason this item, part # Y03-320B, is not specified for roofs with headliners is that the carpet/liner can make drilling a bit more difficult. The same holds true for part # Y05-460, the Rhino-Rack Fixed-Mount Roof Rack System w/ 2 Sportz 44-Inch Crossbars. Certain carpet types might become caught up in the rotating drill bit or the drill chuck and unwind, causing cosmetic damage to the carpet. (Think of a sweater with a stray thread, that when

  • Reese Quick Install 5th Wheel Bracket Kit Recommendation
  • The Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit # RP50066 that you referenced would be the correct custom bracket kit for your 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed. This comes with all the necessary hardware to install the brackets to the frame of your vehicle. I would strongly recommend you get new installation hardware for the rails also as your old setup has already been torqued down. For that you would want a Replacement Hardware Kit # RP58430.

  • Rail Position for a 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit on a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
  • There are a couple of 5th wheel installation kits that use L-shaped angle brackets that also fit the 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500. First there is # RP30095. On it the measurement from the rear edge of the bed to the back of the rear most rails is 25-3/16 inches. The rails will be spaced approximately 21-13/16 inches apart on center so the total to the back of the front rail will be approximately 47 inches from the rear edge of the bed. I have linked instructions for you. The other installation k

  • Will a Fixed 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Fit in the Same Rails as a Slider 5th Wheel Hitch
  • Reese 5th wheel trailer hitch # RP30047 will fit in the same rails as the slider that you had. You are correct, since you have a Sidewinder you will not need a slider. A Sidewinder could be used with a slider as long as the slider stayed locked in the towing position at all times.
