Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Ford Escape - Hidden Hitch

Alright today, in this 2010 Ford Escape, were going to install part number 87626 from Hidden Hitch. This is what the hitch looks like when its installed on a vehicle. Next, well give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground will be around 17 inches. From the center of the hitch pen hole to the edge of the bumper will be around one inch. Now, well go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Ford Escape - Draw-Tite

All right, today is 2010 Ford Escape. We're going to install part number 36501 from Draw-Tite. All right, this is what the hitch looks like once installed on a vehicle. Next, we'll give you some measurements to help you out in selecting some accessories, such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From top of receiver opening down to the ground, will be about 17 1/2 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to edge of bumper will be around 1 inch.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Ford Escape

Today on this 2010 Ford Escape we are going to be installing Curt hitch part number 13650. Before we get started with the installation of the trailer hitch we are going to show you a couple of the final installed dimensions which will help make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to measure 16 inches and from the center of the pin hole to clear the rear edge of the bumper is going to be approximately one inch. 00:22

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Ford Escape

Today on this 2010 Ford Escape we will be installing wiring harness part number 118551. We are going to start off at the rear of the vehicle and the first thing we are going to do is locate the ports that we are going to be plugging our wiring harness into. These ports are located directly behind the tail light assembly on both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle. The first thing we need to do is remove each one of the tail lights. To do that as you can see I have already opened the cargo door that exposes the two inboard side screws that are holding each one of the tail lights on. With the two screws removed we can take and gently rock the tail light assembly back and forth because there are two push pin type connectors still inside there holding the tail light into place. 00:45

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Ford Escape

Today on this 2010 Ford Escape we are going to install part number 87585 from Hidden Hitch. This will also apply to part number 75693 from Draw-Tite. We will start off by showing you where the hitch mounts up on the frame of the vehicle. First off we are going to look at the driver side frame rails. You have got these two holes in the side of the frame. We will be using those two attaching points and also farther up towards the front of the vehicle there will be another attachment hole. This is going to be identical on both sides of the vehicle. To start off we are going to fish wire this thin block and this bolt and we are going to pull it through the end of the frame right through here and we are going to exit out this hole here and we are going to use a fish wire tool to do that and that comes with the kit. Just make sure you do not pull the whole wire out. We will push the block on to the wire and push it up in the frame. 00:47

2010 Ford Escape Questions and Answers

  • Recommendations for Carrying a Dresser and Chair on a 2010 Ford Escape
  • You can install a 32 inch deep x 48 or 50 inch wide cargo carrier on your 2010 Ford Escape as long as the shank of the cargo carrier fits in the receiver of your trailer hitch. The important factors that you want to consider before deciding to use a cargo carrier or a trailer are the tongue weight and towing capacity of your Ford Escape. Based on my research, your Escape has a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 lbs and the tongue weight capacity is typically 10 percent of the towing capacity o

  • Can a Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier be Used to Carry Furniture on a 2010 Ford Escape
  • If safety is a concern then by all means use a trailer. Truck and trailer rental places, you know the ones, have small enclosed trailers that are light weight and can hold a surprising amount of stuff. That is the best and safest option. Cargo carriers may support the weight but furniture tends to overhang the carriers and have a high center of gravity that could be potentially difficult to work with. In order to tow a trailer, you already have a hitch so you will need the appropriate sized b

You could then use ladder attachment carrier # SEGLK2B. You will need to make sure to check the roof weight carrying capacity of your

For a 4 bike rack, the Yakima DoubleDown, # Y02424 that you have referenced is a good bike rack. It comes highly rated from users and has several nice features. The arms and the entire rack can fold down for greater access to the rear of the vehicle. I have included a link to a video review for you. Another great option would be the Thule Hitchi

  • Roof Rack Recommendation to Carry Ladders on a 2010 Ford Escape with Factory Side Rails
  • If your 2010 Ford Escape is a hybrid, XLT, or XLS model I recommend a Rhino-rack system, # SXB3. The Aero bars can be fitted with load stops, like # S602 (sold in a 2-pack), and ladder slides, # SEGLK2B (sold with 2 for each bar), to help secure your ladder and make it easier to load and unload. If you have a Limited model Escape, use # SXB4 for a roof rack. The same load stops and ladder slides will work with this system as well. I have included links to a couple of videos of each roof rack

  • Kuat Sherpa Bike Rack Recommendation for a Mazda3 and Ford Flex and Carbon Fiber Bikes
  • Since you have expensive carbon fiber framed bikes I believe our first priority is to keep them from getting damaged by a bike rack. The best way to do this is to get a bike rack that only makes contact with the wheels. This keeps the frame from having any undue stress put on it. Now, there are a few bikes that are wheel mount only and can fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch like is on your Mazda 3 and a 2 inch hitch like what is on your Ford Flex. I believe you would be most interested in a Kuat Sherpa #

A cargo carrier and bike rack cannot be used together. • Oldenkamp Motorcycle Caddy Recommendation for a 2010 Ford Escape and a 2009 KLR 650

You could use a Hitch Mounted Motorcycle Caddy # RHMC1. This will work on a Class II hitch like what you have on your 2010 Ford Escape. • What Stabilizing Strap Should be Used with a CURT Trailer Hitch on a 2010 Ford Escape

The strap is meant to help support the accessory mounted in the rack which relieves some stress on the hitch. I recommend going with a Class III Hidden Hitch, # 87626, for your 2010 Ford Escape because cost is similar and the Hidden Hitch does not require a strap.
