Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Toyota Tacoma
Today we are working on a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. We will be installing a Curt hitch, part number 13323. Here are a couple of measurements that will assist you with ing accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most point of the bumper is 3-1/2 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 18-3/4 inches. This will assist you with ing accessories, such as a draw bar, a bike rack or a cargo carrier. Now let us go ahead with the installation. 0:26
Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Toyota Tacoma
Today we are working on a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. We will be installing Tow Ready T-one connector part number 118496. Our first step will be to lower the tailgate. This will expose the mounting screws so that we can remove the rear taillight. They will be identical on the passenger side also. Let us go ahead and do that now. With our mounting screws removed, we can go ahead and remove the taillight. We will just work it back and forth until it comes free from its fasteners. With the taillight removed, you can see the connection here for our new Tow Ready connector. So we will depress the locking tab here on the backside of the connector and separate the two connection points. Once we disconnect the two connection points, the taillight lens will be free of the vehicle. We will take our yellow wire connector. It will match the manufacturer connection and we can plug them inline. Once it snaps in place, we can then go back to the vehicle connector on the other side and snap it into place. 1:00
Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Toyota Tacoma
Today on this 2008 Toyota Tacoma pick up we will be installing Prodigy brake controller part number 90185 and we will also be using the brake control wiring kit part number ETBC7. We are going to start here at the rear of the vehicle and mount our 7-pole first. As you can see our vehicle here already has an existing 4-pole that we are going to be plugging our 7-pole adapter into. So in preparation I want to find a spot to go ahead and mount our 7-pole bracket to. On this Tacoma there is not a whole lot to work with. We typically like to mount it here on the back side of the bumper. Mounting at that angle would be kind of obnoxious. So I am actually going to be using part number 118136 which is a long bracket that will attach to the trailer hitch here with the use of a hose clamp. And then we can just mount our 7-pole bracket on like so.
