Trailer Wiring Harness Installation- 2008 Honda Civic

Today on this 2008 Honda Civic we are going to install part number 118420 from Tow Ready. This is our T-One wiring harness. First, we are going to get inside the trunk area. We will show you the layout of the T-One connector. The yellow wire goes to the driver side, so does the red and brown wire. The green wire will go all the way to the passenger side. :20

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Honda Civic

Today on this 2008 Honda Civic we are going to be installing part number 11437 from Curt. First thing we need to do is get underneath the vehicle. We need to get rid of this plastic shroud that is underneath the truck pan. There will be a verity of fasteners on the shroud ranging from plastic rivets to threaded bolts. Next we will go ahead and lower the exhaust itself. It will be one rubber hanger at the very end of the muffler that we will remove and use that to lower everything. :47

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid

Today we are going to install part number 24763 on our 2008 Honda Civic hybrid model. The hitch is going to install above the exhaust on this frame rail behind the heat shield right here. It wraps all the way around the muffler. It is also going to attach to the tow hook right here. Also on the frame rail over here just on this side of the shroud. The first step is to remove the exhaust and also, to do that, we need to remove the rubber isolator from the exhaust muffler. And that will give us some wiggle room. Next we have to unbolt this heat shield right here. Alright next what needs to happen is that this rivet right here has to be removed. We will put it back up when we are done. What we are going to do now is go ahead and hang the hitch. We are going to start off at the tow loop. As you can see, we have the U-bolt hanging down from it. It might be a good idea to have an extra set of hands to work around the muffler.

2008 Honda Civic Questions and Answers

  • Will Pro Series Axis 3 Bike Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2008 Honda Civic
  • The Pro Series Axis 3, # PS1370600, does not have a specific vehicle fit guide. However, it is very likely it will fit because all of the Thule and Yakima trunk mount racks are listed as a fit (see link). For any of the trunk mount racks, I recommend using a bike adapter, # TH982XT, if you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes to carry the bikes more level. I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter works.

  • Fitting the Rear Rhino Rack Roof Rack Crossbar on a 2008 Honda Civic
  • I checked with Rhino Rack and they list the rear bar strip measurement as 49mm on each side. This is for a 4-door model. If you have a 2-door model, you will require a different clamp kit, # DK153, and on it the measurement would be 83mm. Otherwise, a different measurement for the 4-Door is not available. Make sure that the bar spread is correct, measured center to center between the bars, 23.06 inches. If the bars are not at the correct spread then the strip measurement will be off.

  • Because of the Honda Factory Performance under body kit, none of the hitches offered for the 2008 Civic SI Coupe will work on your vehicle. So I checked on a trunk mount bike rack for your car. Both the Thule Raceway 2 Bike Carrier, item # TH9001 and the Yakima Quickback 2 Bike Rack, item # Y02621, would be a good choice for your vehicle, as long as there is not a rear spoiler on the trunk lid.
