2007 Chevrolet Suburban Questions and Answers

  • Does Transmission Cooler Core have to be Filled with Fluid Before Install on a 2007 Chevy Suburban
  • When installing a transmission cooler such as # D13504, you do not have to pre-fill the cooler. Instead you will complete the installation, start the vehicle and let it run. Check for leaks during this time and maybe shift it into drive for a few seconds then put it back in park. Check the fluid level and add as needed. I have included a video link showing a typical installation for you as well as a link to an FAQ article on transmission coolers.

  • Do Derale Transmission Coolers have Thermostats
  • The transmission cooler # D13504 by itself will allow fluid to flow through it all the time, it does not have a thermostat to allow fluid to only flow through it at certain temperatures. What you can do is add the Fluid Control Thermostat Kit, # D13011. This will only allow fluid to flow to the cooler once the fluid temperature reaches 180 degrees. You will also need mounting bracket # D25793.

  • Trailer Brake Controller Not Working on 2007 Chevrolet Suburban
  • On your 2007 Chevrolet Suburban there are two wires under the hood that have to be connected to make the tow package functional, one is the power wire to the brake control and the other is the battery charge line to the 7 way connector. These wires are both Red/Black with eyelets on them. They are coiled up under the hood and will need to be connected to the under hood fuse box. One of the wires is located between the under hood fuse box and the left (driver) side fender. The other is locate

  • Availability of Extendable Heated Towing Mirrors for the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban
  • We do have custom towing mirrors for the 2007 Chevy Suburban; however, the mirrors you referenced # KS2093-94G, are made for the 07-09 Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra. I recommend the CIPA Magna Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors, Heated and Electric, for both driver and passenger side # CM71700. They are compatible for the 2007 Chevy Suburban and can replace the factory mirrors on your vehicle and are extendable, an asset to anyone who regularly pulls a trailer and can telescope out as much as

  • Weight Distribution Hitch Recommendation for a 2001 Coleman Cheyenne Popup Camper Trailer
  • We have a special weight distribution kit that is designed for Coleman trailers with tongue weights of 100 to 350 pounds. Take a look at # RP66041. Since you stated the tongue weight of the trailer at 350 pounds, you may easily exceed that and you would want to look into a system with a higher capacity especially since you have to add the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle as tongue weight. I recommend a system rated for 200 to 600 pounds tongue weight like # 49

I have included a link to the installation instructions. I have also included some links to FAQ articles covering Firestone products. You can inflate the springs using an air compressor like you might find at a gas station, but you can also add a kit with an on-board compressor so you never have to leave the vehicle. The 2

  • Derale Combination Transmission and Engine Oil Cooler Installation on a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban
  • The Combination Engine Oil and Transmission Cooler you purchased, # D15902, will work great on your 2007 Suburban, provided that there is 2 inches of clearance below the OEM oil filter for installation of the sandwich adapter and installation and removal of the filter and there is room for the oil cooler hose to be routed when the sandwich adapter is installed. Lets break the installation down to engine oil cooler and transmission oil cooler separately since the combo you purchased is essenti

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2007 Chevy Suburban Towing a 5,900 Pound Travel Trailer
  • Adding weight distribution will help to divide the gross trailer weight more equally to all the axles of the Suburban and trailer, but all the weight will still be there. While weight distribution is a good idea for a trailer this size, the best solution, and most economical, is to add a transmission cooler. I recommend the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D12903. It is rated for up to 6,000 pounds gross trailer weight and will help to keep the transmission fluid in the o

  • Recommendation To Level Ride Height On 2007 Chevrolet Suburban When Towing 6K lb Toy Hauler Trailer
  • The item you selected, Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part # TGMRYS4, would be a good option for your 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, if you have the 1500 model. In addition to suspension enhancement, I would recommend adding a weight distribution system to your towing setup. A weight distribution system will distribute the weight from your toy hauler throughout your Suburban and the weight will not be just loaded on the rear of the vehicle, which will also help level out the ride heigh

  • Brake Controller Hot Wire Connection for a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban with Factory Wiring Under Dash
  • On your 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, you will need to make a connection under the hood to activate the power wire for brake controller installation. We have an article that details where the factory wiring is and where to hook it up for you to review, see link. The brake controller power wire is located under the hood between the power distribution box and the fender, see photo at right. This wire has a ring terminal on the end of it, and needs to be connected to the smaller of the two 12 volt po

  • Will the Derale Tube-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15502 fit a 2007 Chevy LTZ Suburban
  • Yes, the Derale Tube-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit, item # D15502, will fit on your 2007 Chevrolet Suburban as long as there is room below the OEM oil filter location to install the sandwich adapter and then reinstall the oil filter on the vehicle. The sandwich adapter is 2 inches thick so you can measure to be sure that when the adapter is installed you will have room to remove and install your oil filter for normal maintenence. • Wiring the # 5500 Draw-Tite Activator on a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban
  • Wiring a brake controller no the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban should not pose that big of an obstacle. The wires for the brake controller are under the dash and fairly easy to find (see link) and there is a plug, located above the spare tire, which is used to install the 7-Way Trailer Wiring Harness, item # 30955, at the rear of the vehicle. If your vehicle does not have the factory wiring already connected you will also have to make two connections under the hood to complete the brake controller

  • The Reese Round Bar Strait-Line Hitch with Shank 1,200 lbs. TW / 12,000 lbs. GTW, item # 66088, would be a good choice for the tongue weight and gross trailer weight loaded and ready to tow that you have mentioned. Installation instructions and a video installation of a similar system are linked below. You will need to check your vehicle owner manual or with Chevrolet to make sure that your vehicle towing capacities are within the limits of your setup.

  • Electric Brake Wiring Harness for a 2007 Chevy Suburban
  • You will need three components for electric brake wiring. First, if you have factory 7-Way installed I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our best selling and highly rated brake controllers. Last you will need a 7-Way replacement adapter (unless your vehicle came with one installed) like the Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors for Ford, GM Trucks with Factory 7 Way, # 30955. Under the vehicle, near the spare tire, unplug the round 7-pole factory-installed

  • Weight Distribution System for a 2007 Chevy Suburban Towing a 7,500 Pound Camper
  • You are limited by the lowest rated factor in your towing system. In your case, the limiting factor is your hitch, which is rated for 5,000lbs. Your hitch does not have a high enough capacity rating to tow your camper safely. If the vehicle tow capacity is indeed 7000 lbs, I would recommend a weight distribution system, which would raise the towing capacity on the hitch to 10,000 lbs and also reduce sway when towing your camper. You can view available weight distribution systems at the link b

  • Brake Controller Wiring for a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban
  • The 2007 Suburban does not require a wiring adapter. The tow package wiring is easily accessible and would wire directly to the brake controller. The wiring is located above the emergency brake pedal, and is taped to a wiring harness. Look for a white tag hanging off of the wiring. The four wires are red, dark blue, light blue and white. The red tow package wire connects to the black wire on the controller, the dark blue tow package wire connects to the blue brake controller wire, the light blue
