Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Today on this 2006 Jeep Wrangler, we will be installing wiring harness part number 118409. We are going to start off underneath the vehicle. We are on the driver side, directly below the rear tail light. The parts we are going to be plugging our wiring harness into are located in this pocket underneath the vehicle. We are going to remove this down and show you where the connector is. Holding this flap up is a push rivet. You want to remove that. With that removed we can pull the flap down. If you look up in here, covered in protective tape is our connecting port that we will be plugging our wiring harness into. :40

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Today on this 2006 Jeep Wrangler we will be installing Curt hitch part number 13430. Before we get started with our hitch installation, we are going to go ahead and show you a couple of final install dimensions that will help make choosing your hitch accessories a little bit easier. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is going to measure 16-1/4 inches. And from the center of the pin hole to clear the spare tire on the back is going to be approximately 8 inches. And now we will go ahead and move on to the installation. 0:26

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Today we are going to install part number 13408 from Curt, and we are going to install this on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler. What is going to happen is we are going to install where this bolt is. It will reuse this existing hole that comes with a new fastener, and also this existing hole here in the frame. Also, to give us a little bit extra working room, we are going to disconnect the exhaust at these two bolts right here, just to give us a little more flexibility so we have a little bit more room to work. All right, next we will install our hardware for this hole here. Sometimes, if this hole is not big enough, there is a bigger access hole further up in the frame and you can pull it through. But in this case we actually have enough room to just do everything in one spot. Put it in the hole we are going to use, push it up in there, put our block in there, and pull it back through.

  • Does the Pavement Ends Emergency Top Cover the Windows on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler
  • Since your Jeep does not have windows and the cover, # PE5681201, does not have anything that comes down to cover the opening, there is nothing to cover that opening. The solution here is to add some windows to your Jeep. I have included a link to the upper door options we carry for your 2006 Jeep Wrangler. I have also linked the installation instructions for the cover.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 5th Wheel Trailer with 60 Inch Frame Width
  • The weld-on specialty trailer hitch # 41991-07 that you have referenced is designed for heavy duty trucks. A better fit for your 5th wheel trailer is # 82201. This hitch will bolt to the bottom of the frame so the drop of the receiver will come down far enough to clear the bottom of the trailer. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.

However, there may be some modification required and you will void the warranty by installing the carrier differently than what as indicated in the instructions. The ramps on carriers we have open to the passenger side of the vehicle for the same reason as the rear door on your Jeep does: to avoid traffic. We do have the PortablePET Twistep Hitch Mounted Step # HE3052 that will make getting in

  • Blue Ox Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2006 Jeep Wrangler
  • The first thing you are going to need to flat tow your 2006 Jeep Wrangler would be a base plate kit. This provides the attachment point for the tow bars to the vehicle. Since you referenced the Blue Ox Adventurer Tow Bar # BX7322 I would recommend you go with a Blue Ox Blue Ox Base Plates # BX1120. Next you will need some safety cables, for that I would recommend the Blue Ox 7 foot Safety Cables # BX88196. These safety cables are coiled and will get wrapped around the arms of the tow bar.

  • Does Bumper have to be Removed to Install Front Mount Trailer Hitch on 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
  • If your 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has a C-channel bumper and not a tube style bumper then front mount trailer hitch # 31408 will fit. To install this hitch you will not need to remove the vehicle bumper. There is a plastic shield between the bumper and grille that will have to come off but it does get reinstalled. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. Basically, the hitch attaches to the top of the C-channel bumper.

  • Can a Proportional Trailer Brake Controller be Mounted On Its Side in a 2006 Jeep Wrangler
  • A proportional brake controller, like the Hopkins Agility, # HM47294, has to be mounted within a certain range, see instructions link, and cannot be tilted on its side. That would cause the internal sensors to not work properly and the brake controller would not be functional.
