Roadmaster Tow Bar Installation - 2006 Jeep Liberty
Today we are going to show you part number RM-576 from Roadmaster. This is their Sterling All Terrain tow bar. We will be installing this on a 2006 Jeep Liberty. Our Jeep here already has the base plates installed so we are going to concentrate on the tow bar. We have got the parts laid out in the order of assembly. Starting off with these two pieces right here, these are the adapter parts that go to your face plate that is mounted on your vehicle which allows you to connect this cross bar to the base plates and then to this cross bar the sterling all terrain tow bar mounts to it. Start with the brackets that are listed for the driver side and passenger side of a car. This will get mounted up like this and then the bracket for the safety chains is going to get mounted on the bottom like this. Go ahead and bolt up these two halves and put the assembly on to the tow bar bracket. 01:00
Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2006 Jeep Liberty
Today on this 2006 Jeep Liberty we are going to install part number RM-154 from Roadmaster. What this does is allows us to wire up the vehicle so that it can be towed behind an RV. The first step is to route the wire from the front to rear and the wire harness comes with two truck ends on the wiring harness itself. We are just going to cut off one end of it, leave about a foot or so on there in case we need to use it again or in case the original one gets worn out. This 4-pole is going to stay at the front and basically you can think about it as like wiring up a utility trailer. This is going to stay in the front and the car is going to become a trailer at this point. We are going to run our wire between the plastic up in here towards the center as close as possible because in the future a face plate will get installed in that general area. Thread that on through until we come out the other side and we are going to route it all the way back and stay away from the suspension components and we are actually going to run it through the frame. 01:00
Roadmaster Base Plate Installation - 2006 Jeep Liberty
Today, on this 2006 Jeep Liberty, we are going to install part number 521423-1 from Roadmaster. What is going to happen is these base plates mount to the frame of the vehicle and allows the vehicle to be towed behind. The mounts will be approximately right in this area, right here. So to get started we are going to have to remove the bumper cover and the grille. We will go ahead and start off by taking the bolts off the lower part of the fascia here so we can get that loose. We have the bottom part of the fascia loose now. Now let us go to the top and start working on the grille and work our way down to take the fascia off. Alright, next we will go ahead and start taking off the grille. There is basically, on this model, there is a series of snaps that hold the grille in place. So we will undo these first. Next what we are going to do is continue with the bumper cover here and remove this bolt here and here. Next we will go ahead and remove the plastic rivets that go to the fender liner here, one here and one here. Repeat the same process back over on the passenger side. Alright, getting back underneath, there are two more plastic rivets that we need to take out here and here. With the fender wheel liner pulled back a little bit, and then push in. There is a little snap right here. And then pull down. 1:20
Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Jeep Liberty
Today we are going to install part number 13044 from Curt, and we are going to install this Class III receiver hitch on a 2006 Jeep Liberty. We will show you where the hitch mounts up. It is going to mount up along three holes in the frame here, here and here. And this has a skid shield in place. Your vehicle may not have the skid shield, so it is going to have the empty three holes. And it is going to be the same thing on the other side. In this case, this actually comes down with a recovery hook that is in place. This whole piece and assembly will actually have to come down and stay off when the hitch is installed. Again, there are three bolts on each side behind this hook, too, just like on the passengers side.
