2005 Toyota Highlander Questions and Answers

  • Why is Weight Distribution Not Recommended for a 2005 Toyota Highlander
  • The reason a weight distribution system cannot be used is because of the towing restrictions that Toyota has placed on the Highlander. There are a few factors that can cause this such as weak attachment points on the vehicle frame, towing capabilities of the vehicle and vehicle design. The purpose of a weight distribution system is to distribute the tongue weight of the trailer to the front vehicle axle and trailer axles. To do this, the weight distribution system creates an upward force at

  • Should a Reese Light-Duty Weight Distribution Kit be Used with a 2005 Toyota Highlander
  • If you were using a different vehicle to tow the trailer, it would probably be fine to leave the # RP66069 Reese Light-Duty weight distribution system installed. The issue in this situation is that your 2005 Toyota Highlander cannot be used with weight distribution, so you will need to remove the system in order to tow the 2008 Jayco trailer with this particular vehicle. As long as the trailer weight does not exceed the weight rating for the system then there should not be any damage to the

  • Fit of Softride Dura Bike Rack # SR26247 on 2005 Toyota Highlander
  • To determine if the Softride Dura part # SR26247 would be a good candidate for your 2005 Highlander, you would need to know the distance from the hitch pin hole in your receiver opening to the furthest rearward portion of your bumper. If this measurement is less than 6 inches, the Dura will fit. If the measurement is greater than that, the rack will fit if the # SR26033 extender bar is used. You are correct, the arms do not fold, but can be easily removed. The Element rack you reference

  • Trunk Mounted vs Hitch Mounted Bike Rack for 2005 Toyota Highlander
  • Given the choice between a hitch mounted bike rack and a trunk mounted bike rack I would go with a hitch mounted bike rack. Especially if you already have a hitch on your vehicle. Hitch mounted racks are generally more stable, easier to install, harder to steal and provide easier rear cargo access. If you do not have a hitch yet I would still recommend you get a hitch and hitch mounted bike rack because once you have a hitch you will have the option to tow a trailer in the future. For a
