Transmission Cooler Installation - 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Today on our 2004 Chevy Trailblazer we'll be installing the Durale Series 8000 Plate-fin Transmission Cooler Kit, part number D13503. Before we can begin installing the cooler, we'll fist need to go ahead and gain accessto the front radiator and/or A/C cooler. To do this we'll go ahead and remove the frontbumper cover and the grille. Starting with the front bumper cover underneath, we'll goahead and remove the two fasteners here on the driver's side, securing the bumpercover to the bumper structure. We've got a push-pin fastener we'll remove first andthen a bolt. Now we'll go ahead and repeat the same process on the passenger's side.Next we have four push-pin fasteners located near the license plate bracket that willneed to be removed.

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Today on this 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer with factory installed tow package we are going to be installing the Tekonsha P3 brake controller part number 90195. The first thing I want to note before we do our installation is what exactly the factory 7-pole looks like on the back of the Trailblazer that is going to indicate whether or not this vehicle has the wires underneath the dash to hook the brake controller into. Looking at the rear bumper area here you can see the factory installed 7-pole is kind of underneath mounted at an angle and again it is mounted to the factory hitch as well. On the lid itself there is the GM logo printed on it, that is a kind of cut and dry indicator right there as well. If you have the factory 7-pole you will have the wires under the dash to hook your brake controller to, if you do not you are likely going to have to do a manual hardwire of the brake controller and you will need to purchase some other components. 00:50

2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer Questions and Answers

  • Display of the Draw-Tite Activator II Brake Controller When Not Connected to a Trailer
  • The Draw-Tite Activator II Brake Controller, # 5500, will not display numbers under any function when the trailer is not connected. You should only see a single decimal on the display. Check out the video that I made showing you how the brake controller should function without a trailer connected. If you do not have any signal on the display, then there could be an electrical issue that is preventing power from reaching the brake controller. If this is the case, I would recommend using a cir

  • Recommended Weight Distribution For a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer Towing 5400 Pound Trailer
  • For a trailer with 750 pounds tongue weight, I recommend a system rated for 600 to 1,200 pounds. In addition to the trailer tongue weight, you have to add top that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. That can increase the tongue weight so the wide range of 600 to 1,200 pound systems is the best bet. If you like the Pro Series systems, you can use # 49587. The only thing you will need to add to this system is a properly sized ball for the coupler. For a 2 inc

  • Weight Distribution Recommendation for a Trailer with Surge Brakes Towed by a 2004 Trailblazer
  • We do have weight distribution systems that will work with the surge brakes on your EZ Loader boat trailer. I have attached a link to all of the weight distribution systems we carry that are compatible with surge brakes. The most important thing to consider when choosing a weight distribution system is the tongue weight of your trailer when it is fully loaded and ready to tow. Anything loaded behind the rear axle in your 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer will contribute to the tongue weight as well.

  • Troubleshooting a Swaying Camper being Towed by a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer
  • Proper trailer loading is the best defense against trailer sway. The more weight you have in the front of the trailer the less likely the trailer will sway. The next line of defense would be a weight distribution system like the Reese SC Weight Distribution System # RP66153 that you referenced. In order to pick out the best system you will need to know the loaded tongue weight of your trailer and pick out a system that encompasses that weight. I attached an faq that details how to determin

  • Will the UCLA Bruins 2 inch Receiver Cover Fit on a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer
  • The UCLA Bruins 2 inch Receiver Cover, # 034092100805, will fit on your 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer as long as you have a 2 inch receiver trailer hitch. You can measure the width or height of the receiver opening on your hitch to determine if it is a 2 inch receiver or a 1-1/4 inch receiver. If the receiver on your vehicle is 1-1/4 inches, then you could get the UCLA Bruins Hitch Cover, # CHC344L, for 1-1/4 inch receivers. I have attached an article for trailer hitch receiver sizes that wi

  • Troubleshooting a Tekonsha Primus Brake Controller Displaying 0.0 and Not Braking
  • It sounds like there might be some other fuses that could have blown, or there are some shorts on your brake controller/7-way circuits. It is hard to know exactly where the problem lies, but the first thing I would check would be to test the manual override lever when the trailer is connected and see if it will apply the trailer brakes. If it does have voltage then I would check to make sure brake switch circuit (red wire) sees voltage when the brakes are applied. If not, then you have locate

  • The Rola Pursuit Collapsible Roof Top Cargo Carrier, # 59150, will fit on crossbars that are up to 3-1/4 inches wide. If your 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer has crossbars that run side to side that are up to that 3-1/4 inch wide limit, and the crossbars spread is between 23 and 32 inches apart, it will fit. If you do not have crossbars on your roof, you will need to add them first. I have included a link to the roof rack page for your vehicle. Just click on the type of roof you have to see the availa

  • Recommended Sway Control for a 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer Towing a 6,000 Pound Coachman Trailer
  • I can definitely help with the sway you are experiencing. First, one friction sway control unit probably is not going to be enough for your 6,000 pound trailer. A friction-type sway control can help mitigate trailer sway after it starts happening, but to stop sway in its tracks before it starts, you will need to break out a bigger gun, so to speak. I recommend going with Dual Cam High Performance Sway Control, # RP26002. The dual-cam system has a pro-active approach to sway control meaning th

  • Right Turn Signal on Trailer Towed by 2004 Chevy Trailblazer Not Functioning
  • On a 6 year old vehicle, there might be a corrosion issue on the trailer connector. Can you see any green corrosion on any of the pins in the connector? If so, the corrosion might have spread to the interior of the connector preventing the signal from getting through to the pin. As a first step, use a circuit tester like part # 40376 and test the wire for the right directional circuit entering the 7-way connector at the rear (as the right turn indicator is activated). This will rule out the conn

  • As long as your Chevy Trailblazer has load bars that go from side to side on the roof of the vehicle that are less than 3-1/8 inches wide and 1-7/8 inches tall then the Swagman Upright Roof Mounted Bike Rack, item # S64720, will work on your vehicle. If you need crossbars, I have included a link to the roof rack main page for your vehicle. Just select which style roof you have from the 3 choices to see the options for your vehicle.
