Trailer Hitch Installation - 1998 Chevrolet Suburban

Today on this 1998 Chevrolet Suburban, we are going to install part number 75037 from Draw-Tite. This install also applies to part number 87546 from Hidden Hitch. Look at the passenger side here, we are going to show you exactly where the hitch is going to mount up. It is actually going to use these three existing holes that is going to be identical on both sides. All right, first thing we are going to do is enlarge the holes on the end of the frame. We are going to make those up to 1/ 2 inch. It is almost the same size as now but this is just to give a little extra room for the bolts. Now the next two holes here, we are going to enlarge to 9/ 16. Again it gives it better wiggle room to pull the bolt and the pull wire through. When you do this on the driver side be careful because the wire harness is laying inside the frame so be careful when you do that side.

This cargo carrier measures 4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the of the carrier. • Are Trailer Hub Assemblies Threaded to Accept Bearing Buddies
  • The hub is not threaded. Bearing Buddies are meant to be driven in with a mallet or hammer, not screwed in. As long as the outside diameter of the bearing buddy corresponds with the inside diameter of the hub bore, the bearing buddy will fit very tightly and will not pop out. This is not to say that it cannot be stolen, but it would take several good whacks with a hammer to remove. I have provided a link to our selection of Bearing Protectors that are appropriate to the hub you were looking a

  • When flat towing a vehicle you will want to check your owners manual or with the manufacturer for instructions on the proper procedure for towing your 1998 GMC Suburban, because some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed. • Brake Controller Installation on 1998 Chevy Suburban
  • GM did not start using the port under the dash until the 1999 model year. You will need to hardwire the controller into the existing vehicle wiring. Depending on what the tow package on your vehicle included, some of the wiring might be in place. Does the Suburban already have a trailer connector? If so, is it a 4-pole or a 7-Way? GM typically ran a blue and an orange wire from the rear of the vehicle up to the engine bay that terminates under the brake booster. In a 12 year old vehicle,
