What our customers are saying:

I recently placed an order with your company for a fifth wheel hitch. I placed the order on January 12th. I did not expect delivery for at least 10 days. It arrived yesterday after only four days. I just wanted to take a minute to thank you and your company for the very prompt delivery. Efficiently run companies are hard to find now days and I appreciate doing business with one. I just placed a second order with you. You will continue to be my first choice when ordering online. Thanks again and have a great day.

Demco 5th Wheel Underbed Rail Kit Installation - 2013 Ram 3500

Today on our 2013 RAM 3500, we're going to take a look at installing the Demco Underbed Rail and Install Kit for the Demco Hijacker UMS Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches, part number DM8551006. With your under mount system, it's going to allow you to mount the Demco Hijacker UMS Double Pivot Fifth Wheel Chariot. Now without our hitch installed, we have some rubber plugs that are going to go over the holes, help keep out dirt and debris. You want to make sure you keep this area in here lubed up where your pins will fit, just to keep corrosion out. This fifth wheel hitch is designed to carry 21,000 pounds. It's got a 360 degree jaw to king pin contact.

Demco RV Fifth Wheel DM8550041 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco Single Jaw Hijacker Auto Slide fifth wheel trailer hitch with the slider. This is for the under bed mount and this has a thirteen thousand bound weight capacity. This fifth wheel hitch will mount in your short bed truck bed so that you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. It is an automatic slider which will provide clearance that's required for your short bed truck to turn safely at slow speeds, and there's no more getting into and out of your truck to operate a manual slider. This head will slide toward the tailgate when you turn and then back toward the cab when you straighten out. On the underneath here, it uses a roller and guide assembly which will create a nice smooth and controlled movement. Basically on a fifth wheel when you hook up your pin box, usually when you do your turning your kingpin would be spinning, the pin box would turn.

Demco RV Fifth Wheel DM8550040 Review

Today, we're going to take a look at the Demco single jaw hijacker autoslide fifth wheel trailer hitch with the slider. This is for an above bed mount. Has a 1300 pound capacity. This fifth wheel hitch will mount in your short-bed truck bed so that you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. This is an automatic trailer which will provide clearance that's required for your sharp bed truck to turn safely at slow speeds. There's no more getting in and out of the truck to operate a manual slider.

Curt Fifth Wheel C16049 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt Q 25 Dual Jaw fifth wheel trailer hitch for the Ram towing prep package. This has a twenty five thousand pound weight capacity. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the Dodge Ram and Ram 2500/3500 series trucks with the factory rail kit starting in the year 2013. And this will fit both long and short bed models. Now this hitch has the two jaw locking system which will provide a nice three hundred and sixty degree jaw to kingpin contact.

Curt Fifth Wheel C16069 Review

Today, we're going to take a look at the Curt Q25 Dual-Jaw fifth-wheel trailer hitch for the Chevrolet GMC Towing Prep package. This has a 25,000-lb weight capacity. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the Chevy GMC 2500 and 3500 trucks with the factory-installed Towing Prep package, starting in the year 2016. These legs are designed to drop right into the openings of the OEM under-bed hitch platform. For this video, I've mounted the legs to the crossmember and the head's all installed, so this is how it would look installed in your truck bed.

B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2014 GMC Sierra 2500

Today on our 2014 GMC Sierra 2500, we will be taking a look at and installing the B&W Patriot Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider . With assistance from the B&W Custom Base Plate Rails and Insulation Kit for fifth wheel trailers, Part Number: BWRVK3270 and Part Number: BWRVK2501. Here's what our B&W Patriot will look like once it's installed. The best thing about this hitch, is going to be the ease of use. Simple one handed operation that you will not have with any other out there. Lift it up to unlock it, slide it forward, load up your trailer, and then when you're ready to go, into the drive, you're just going to put it back, and as the trailer slides back as you start going, go back in lock-in position, and you're ready to hit the road. Now the thing where the slider is going to come in handy is going to be when you're turning and operating with a short bed truck.

B and W Fifth Wheel BWRVK3270 Review

Today we are going to take a look at the BMW Patriot Dual Jaw Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with the slider. And this has an 18 000 pound weight capacity. Now this fifth wheel hitch will mount in your truck bed so that you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. This one happens to have a built in slider. It will provide clearance which is required for your short-bed pick-up to turn safely at slow speeds. The slider will give you about 12 inches from front to back extra clearance. Now on the head of this hitch, you can see has a three quarter inch stick dual jaws on it.

B and W Fifth Wheel BWRVK3255 Review

Today, we're going to take a look at the B&W Patriot Dual Jaw Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch. This has an eighteen-thousand pound weight capacity. Now this fifth-wheel hitch will mount in your truck bed so you can tow your fifth-wheel trailer. It uses the three quarter inch thick dual jaws to provide a nice three-hundred and sixty degree jaw to king pin contact, because that'll give you less rattle and more security than your slide bar jaws. The head is a fully articulating head, which will ease hookup, helps limit chucking. Has a front-to-back movement and then this plate right here will pivot side-to-side, also. The head does sit on polyurethane bushings that are on these pivot arms.

Curt Fifth Wheel C16545-16025 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt Q24 Fifth Wheel trailer hitch for the Chevrolet GMC towing prep package. The dual jaw design has a 24,000 pound weight capacity. Now this is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the Chevy and GMC trucks that have the factory installed towing prep packaging staring in the year 2016. The legs right here are designed to drop right into the openings of the OEM under bed hitch platform. Now on a custom fit part, I always like to recommend to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year model vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now I have attached it all together, the head I attached to the legs just to show you what this would look like all assembled. This does use the two jaw locking system which will provide a 360 degree jaw to king pin contact.

Fifth Wheel Questions and Answers

  • What is the Best Truck for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • You are doing the right thing by doing the research first. There is a lot of conflicting information out there so let me break it down for you. Basically, if you want to tow a 5th wheel trailer, the best trucks are going to be long bed 3/4 or 1 tons like a Ford F-250/F-350, Chevy/GMC 2500/3500, or Ram 2500/3500. Half ton trucks could work but are not nearly as capable as the larger trucks. A long bed for sure is something you will want. Having a long bed means that you will not need...

  • Minimum Truck Bed Length for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer Without Cab and Loft Clearance Issues
  • The minimum bed length for towing a fifth-wheel trailer with a standard fifth-wheel hitch, see link, is 8 feet. A 6-1/2 inch bed like the Silverado Extended Cab you mentioned can be used along with a slider style fifth-wheel hitch, see link, that requires you to remember to get out of the truck and move a handle to slide the hitch rearward when tight parking and campground situations are encountered. Once ready to go back out on the road the hitch will need to be moved forward, requiring...

  • Tips for Choosing the Best Truck to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • Starting with the truck series itself, I would go with a 3/4 ton or 1 ton. Ultimately a 1-ton would be better. Between gas and diesel I would choose a diesel if it were me. They are capable of more power and torque than gas motors. The cab style does not matter all that much but the bed size does. You will want to avoid a step side bed and a Dodge model that has a Rambox feature because they cannot have a 5th wheel hitch installed. Long beds are the way to go. A short bed can cause issues...

  • Comparing Reese, Pro Series, and CURT 16K Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches
  • Reese is a leader in the towing industry and we sell more Reese hitches than any other brand. It is height adjustable from 14-1/2 to 18 inches. The jaw on the Reese hitch is a double jaw style. This is a safe and secure style. Only the single hook is considered to be better. It has a double pivot head. The next step down is the Pro Series hitch, # PS30855. This is a very economical hitch aimed at the first-time 5th wheel trailer owner. It is height adjustable from 13 inches to 17 inches...

  • What Size Truck is Recommended for Towing a 16,000 Pound 5th Wheel Trailer
  • While there is not a specific truck size required, to maximize towing capacity and minimize wear and tear on the drive train of the truck, I would recommend a full size, 3/4 or 1 ton truck like the Ford F-250 or F350, Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra 2500 or 3500, or Dodge Ram 2500 or 3500 Series. I would recommend a truck with the 8 foot bed if possible, which would eliminate the need for a sliding hitch or a replacement pin box for the fifth wheel. That is not to say that other trucks...

  • How to Adjust Height of Fifth Wheel Hitch
  • The head portion of the Reese 18K Select Plus Fifth Wheel Hitch is height adjustable from 14 to 18 inches above the floor of the truck bed. To raise the head, remove the bolts that attach it to the support legs of the hitch, and reattach using the upper holes. For safety, you will need at least 6 inches of clearance between the top of the truck side rails and the bottom of the trailer loft. I have included a link to the installation details, in case you no longer have them.

  • Suitability of Older Trucks for Towing Fifth Wheels
  • Due to the myriad of different equipment packages GM offered, finding the towing capacity of a given vehicle is not as easy as you would think. I did some research on the towing capacities of those mid 80's GM trucks. I found that as a general rule, the K series 4wd trucks has lower capacities than the C series 2wd models. I saw several references stating that a C series could tow up to 12,000 lbs or maybe more, depending how it was equipped. The best way to determine the towing capacity...

It is rated for 16K gross towing weight and 4000-lb tongue weight. • What is a Safe Distance Between Truck Bed Rails and the Underside of a 5th Wheel Camper Trailer Loft
  • Our recommendation for safe towing, no damage to truck bed rails or underside of trailer loft is 6 inches. If your fifth-wheel hitch does not have enough rise to accommodate 6 inches of clearance, then you might be interested in a hitch that can be adjusted to 18 inches above the truck bed,...

First the puck mounts. If you have the short bed, you'll want to use a sliding hitch, like the Reese Elite Series Slider, part # RP30144 which will drop right into the pucks. • There are several ways to adapt a 5th wheel trailer to enable it to be towed with a truck that has a goose neck hitch installed. The best choice for you will depend on how often you need to change between trailer types. Some of the adapters that allow this flexibility will put more stress on the trailer frame than other types. Options are still somewhat limited for newer vehicles like your 2014 Ram. The best method is to replace the pin box on your 5th wheel with a compatible goose box...

The lowest capacity hitch we offer is a 15K, like the Pro Series, part # PS30093 (or RP30094 for a 6-1/2 foot bed truck.) • In my opinion, the best way to tow a fifth wheel trailer with your 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 with the OEM fifth wheel prep package is to use a fifth wheel hitch that fits the in-bed pucks in your truck bed. You have several hitch options that will work, but my favorite is the B&W Companion 25K Fifth Wheel Hitch, # BWRVK3600.
