Yakima SpareTime Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack Review - Video
Today we are going to review the SpareTime bike carrier from Yakima, part number Y02598. This bike carrier mounts directly to the spare tire mount on the back of your SUV or van. Let us go ahead and take a closer look at our bike carrier now and show you how it installs on the back of our vehicle. To start, we want to go ahead and remove our spare tire. And we want to take our mounting plate, which we can see has multiple holes in it, it allows it to be oriented to accommodate your specific bolt pattern. You can also see that it has a tongue here, which is actually what the bike rack is going to mount to. The bike carrier comes with different length tongues as well and that is to accommodate the different thicknesses of spare tires. Once you have determined the proper combination for your vehicle, you can go ahead and set the mounting plate onto the spare tire carrier. SportRack 3 Bike Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack Review - Video
The first step in installing this bicycle rack is to go ahead and disconnect the wheel mount as it comes packaged already installed on the rack. We will take the wheel mount and put it behind the spare tire and then we will re-install the rack. The next step is to take off the spare tire cover if you have one, then the spare tire itself. Next we can slide on our adapter plate, it has a variety of different holes in it for different makes and models of vehicles. With the spare and the mount installed we can put our rack on using its locking bolt. The cradles are mounted loose so you can adjust them for the different tilts of the top tube on your bike. We will leave them level for now and we will install a couple of bikes to show how they fit. The cradles are loosely set on the rack, we will set the bike on there to get the tilt we want. Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Carrier for Spare Tire Mounts Review - Video
Today we are going to take a look at the Thule Spare Me 2 bike carrier, part number TH963XTR. The Spare Me is designed to mount on a spare tire mount on the back of an SUV. To install the rack, first remove the spare tire. Next we will put our mounting plate over the studs on our spare tire mount. Note that the cutout can either be in the 6 o’clock or the 12 o’clock position. We have a good fit where we are at so we are going to put our spare tire back on top of the mount. With our spare tire securely mounted over our bike rack mount, we are ready to install the bike rack. 0:52 more

Thule Spare Me Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack Review - 2009 Toyota RAV4 - Video
Today on our 2009 Toyota RAV4, we're going to do a test of the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Carrier, part number TH963XTR. Where we can install our carrier, we've already gone ahead and removed the spare tire cover. Now let's go ahead and remove the spare tire so that we can fit our adaptor plate. Now that we have the spare tire off, we'll go ahead and fit on our adaptor plate and then reinstall the spare tire. With this spare tire reinstalled, we can now go ahead and slide on our bike carrier and tying it down with the locking knob. With the tightening knob tying down and in the locked position, our carrier is now secured to the vehicle. more
