The Quietride Tightening Ball Mount with lock provides a secure and sound dampening connection between your vehicle and trailer. This not only improves your towing experience, but also protects your valuable vehicle, trailer, and cargo. Quietrides patently tightening ball mount has two critical components that work together to insure you have the safest and quietest ride the industry has to offer. The threaded, stainless steel hitch pin tightens securely to an internal nut fixed to the inside of the ball mounts inner wall. The ball mount is pulled into the corner of the receiver hitch by the tightening action of the gold wedge and pin. This three dimensional cinch eliminates all of the movement that causes the clanking sound you hear when starting, stopping, and cornering. This insures that all gaps around the ball mount are absorbed leaving your vehicle and equipment damage free and without the annoying clank. The Quietride Tightening Ball Mount system insures the ultimate towing experience. more

Today we are going to talk about ball mounts: what they are for, and what they can do for you. As you can see here, we have a variety of different types. And we are going to start off with the most basic type and go all the way up to the most advanced ones with the most adjustability to them. First, we will start off with a typical ball mount. And this configuration here is for a 2-inch receiver and also is a version. Basically, it is going to be 4 inches. Also, some models will have a gusset on the bottom, here, to give them a little bit added strength. Some of the typical straight ones will not have this, of course. And, depending on the materials it is made of, some will have the gusset and some will not. One other thing about ball mounts is, we have talked about rise and . Basically, how they measure that is from the top of the shank down to the bottom of the plate here, that is considered the . And the rise position is considered this way - from the top of the shank again - well, to the top of the hitch - to the top of this plate here. And that gives you your rise measurement. So, in this case, we actually have from here to here a 4-inch , and then from here to here we have approximately about a 2-3/4 inch rise. And those rules apply to any ball mount out there. more

This is a ball mount that uses a 2 inch and 2 5/16 ball. As you can see this is an adjustable ball mount which means that this platform here can travel up and down as necessary. Theres two locks on here that use coke machine keys, theres one up top right here. This lock controls the pin that locks it into the hitch. This lock here facilitates the adjustments up and down the shank. Well show you how the locks work starting with the hitch pin. Basically you take the key and twist it and you can see how the pin retracts when you want to slide it into the hitch. When you have it in the right spot, take the key back and it forces the pin back out. This does so on both sides. With the same key you can go down here, it pretty much works the same way, it just allows it to adjust in different increments. more

Today we are going to show you part number 28418T from Masterlock. What we have here is the easy adjustable ball mount that fits a 2 inch trailer hitch and is rated at 5,000 pounds. We will go ahead and install it in a 2 inch receiver hitch and show you how it works. We will go ahead and install this in our 2 inch receiver hitch. A couple real nice features about this is one, it is obviously adjustable. You can adjust it in quarter inch increments which makes it pretty easy to adjust actually. The nut on top is also 7/8 inch but also in the middle of it you can use a 3 square drive like you find on a common ratchet. You just stick it right in there and you can adjust it as so. You can also do this with the trailer engaged, too, so you can fine tune the height of your trailer. Now as you do it you can feel the actual notches in here. So when you get it at the right height it is going to hit that dent and not go anywhere after that. more

Today we are going to show you part number 3489-AT from Master Lock. What we have is a trailer hitch locking ball mount with a 3 quarter inch rise or 2 inch . This ball mount is rated for 6000 pounds. The main feature about this ball mount is that it does not require a hitch pin or a locking hitch pin. Simply because it is already built into the side or built inside the ball mount itself. What happens is you go ahead and pull off the protective cover. As you can see the pin comes out and grabs the hitch. It only comes out enough to meet the end of the hitch. Anything else is just going to be a waste of steel. So it will fit right in there just fine. We will go ahead and install it and show you how it works again. more
