Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2001 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty - Video

Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2001 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Today on this 2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty we will be installing Hide-A-Goose part number 9460-30. Before we get started we need to do a couple of things in preparation. First thing we are going to do is go ahead and lower the spare tire and get it out of our way. We also want to remove the heat shield from this section directly over the exhaust and over the axle well. And then we also need to lower the exhaust off of its rear most hanger. With those three things done we can actually go up inside the bed and start by drilling our hole in the bed. We need to check with the directions to verify the appropriate length that you need to mark and drill your hole at. On this particular long bed model we are going to be measuring from the end of the bed here. My dimension on this long bed model will be 48 inches. We just want to center that mark in between the wheel wells. 00:51 more

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 HD

Today on this 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty we are going to install part number 9462-35 from Draw-Tite. All right, we are underneath the bed of the truck right now. First step is to pull the exhaust out of the way. We will go ahead and remove this rubber hanger here, theres one here, and a couple on the muffler in the back itself. Sometimes they have these little clips on here, so what you want to do is take a pair of pliers and just kinda work them off. Then you can take the rubber hanger off. :25 more

Hide-A-Goose Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Chevrolet Silerado 2500 HD

Today on this 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD we will be installing Hide-A-Goose part number 9463-34. We are underneath the vehicle and the first thing we want to do is go ahead and take the spare tire out and get it out of our way. Next thing in preparation we want to go ahead and lower the exhaust off of its two rearmost hangers. We have got one right here and one forward up here. To remove the exhaust off of its hangers I am just going to go ahead and spray the stud down with a lubricant like a WD-40 and you can either take a crowbar or a pair of pliers and pry that off of there. The next step is to go ahead and remove the heat shield over the section just forward of the rear axle here. From here to here is the section we need to remove. And we can do this by one of two ways: we can go ahead and unscrew the entire heat shield by removing the bolts that are holding it on or we can just take a cutting tool and go ahead and just cut that section out, which is what I am going to go ahead and do. Okay now we have the heat shield cut and out of the way we want to next bend down the heat shield for the gas tank itself so it will not interfere with the cross members when we go to put them in place. more

Hide-A-Goose Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado - Video

Hide-A-Goose Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Today we are going to install part number 9463-34 from Draw-Tite. We are going to install this on a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. First we are going to do is get the truck ready to install the hitch. Go ahead and lower the spare tire and get that out of the way because you are going to need to lean over the differential and tighten down the bolts. Next what you want to do is go ahead and get the exhaust and loosen it up so you have a little more working room to install the kit. When lowering the exhaust what you want to do is pull down a little bit and spray some lubricant in there, let it work in a little bit, then you can go ahead and pry it off. Okay there is one more towards the front of the vehicle, we will undo that one too. Now you have more flexibility to work around it. Our next step is to loosen the bed on one side, it does not matter what side just pick the one you prefer to work on. And there are going to be four of these bolts right here going along through the frame. more

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2008 Chevy 3500 HD - Video

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2008 Chevy 3500 HD

Today we are going to be installing Hide-A-Goose part number 9463-34 on a 2008 Chevrolet 3500 HD long bed. Before we get started, we want to do a couple of things in preparation. We want to go ahead and lower the spare tire out of the way, and we are going to go ahead and take the exhaust and remove it from its two rear-most hangers. The rear-most hanger for the exhaust is right here, and the next one up will be just rear of the muffler. There are two more things we are going to do in preparation before we get started. Just forward of the axle here, in between these two hat channels, we need to actually remove the heat shield from that section. The easiest way to do that is to get a cutting tool, like a Dremel or some tin snips, and you can go ahead and just cut the section. And we also are going to need to either cut or bend down the upper portion of the heat shield here, right above the gas tank - this part here. From here up it is going to interfere with the crossmembers coming through when we go to put those in place. So again, you either have the option of cutting it or just bending it down out of place. There is actually a third thing as well. On models that have the factory-installed brake control system, there are two bolts holding it on, on the outboard side of the frame. We can actually loosen those and pop them out the larger portion of the holes there. And we are actually going to remount that to the new mounting bracket that is included in the installation kit. more

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2006 Ford F-250 - Video

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2006 Ford F-250

Today we are going to install part numbers 9470 and 4430, a Hide-a-Goose gooseneck hitch, on a 2006 Ford F-250. We will go ahead and lower the exhaust. Now, there is a mount in front of the axle that you reach in from underneath the bed to get to it. Take out two nuts, and you can lower the exhaust that way. And then we will go to the back of this whole assembly and pull it off to the side. The next thing we need to do is to remove the bracket from the vapor tube, which is this object right here - this is your vapor tube, and this is your wire harness. What is going to happen is we are going to take this bracket and we are going to put it sideways and remount it with the provided bracket that comes in the kit. It is bolted onto the side of the frame here, so we have got to take off that nut. You can pull it out. I am just going to rotate it just like this, install our bracket, and what this does is it provides room for the bracket that fits on the outside of the frame to install the gooseneck hitch. We will take our nut-and-bolt assembly from the outside in. Next what we are going to do is take down this shield here - again, to give us some more work room to install the hitch. more

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2004 Ford F-350 Super-Duty - Video

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2004 Ford F-350 Super-Duty

Today we are going to be installing Hide-a-Goose part number 9460 along with Hide-a-Goose Custom Installation Kit 4430 on a 2004 Ford F-350 Super-Duty. OK, the first thing you want to do is to go ahead and lower your spare tire down to give you extra room to work underneath the vehicle. Another thing that I recommend, which I am going to do right now, is to go ahead and loosen the bed bolts. There are eight of them. And to loosen those up is going to make things a lot easier when you go underneath to get the gooseneck rails into place. And, start our installation. The first thing we want to do is to go ahead and lower the exhaust down, which is - this rear hanger here, the one we are going to start with, it has one bolt on the side. The rubber holder off of the hanger or you can just remove the bolt here on the side of the frame, which is what I am going to do. We also want to go ahead and remove the forward hanger, as well, up above the curve in the exhaust. And you can see there is one rubber hanger there. And there is one on the inboard side as well. We can go ahead and remove the exhaust off of there. OK, the next thing to do is to go ahead and put the cross bracings in over the frame of the truck. And to do this we want to go ahead and put the rear one in first and then put the forward one in after that. You can see there is a little bit of difference between the front and the rear ones. The front crossmember has two extra holes here in the center, whereas the rear one does not - so that is the one we want to put in first. Before we do that, we do want to take the 5/8 by 2-inch carriage bolts and we want to go ahead and those into the square holes before we install them into position, because once they are in position, we will not be able to get the carriage bolts in there. And we are going to go put them in place. more

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2006 GMC Sierra - Video

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2006 GMC Sierra

Today we are going to be installing Hide-a-Goose part number 9463-4434 on a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500. The first thing we want to do is to go ahead and lower the spare tire. That will give us a lot more room to install the gooseneck system. The second step is to go ahead and cut out a section of the heat shield, which is basically forward of the axle in between the two hat channels, which is basically parallel to the gas tank as well. We need to go ahead and cut that section out to allow us to get the crossmembers into place. OK, with that section of the heat shield removed, we want to next go inside the bed. And we are going to go ahead and mark and then drill our hole for the opening in the Hide-a-Goose system. You want to check with your directions to verify the appropriate dimension that you are going to be drilling from. On this particular short-bed model, we are going to go ahead and mark from the end of the bed at 44-1/2 inches, and then we just want to center that in between the two wheel wells, which will land us right in the center of this rib here. And with my dimensions marked out, I am just going to go ahead and center punch that location, and then we are going to go ahead and drill out our 3-1/2 inch hole. more

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2008 Ford Super Duty Pickup - Video

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2008 Ford Super Duty Pickup

Today we are going to install part numbers 9460 and 4430. This is a Hide-a-Goose install kit for a 2008 Ford Super Duty pickup. This is a diesel version with a 6-foot bed. Next we are going to create some working room beneath the vehicle. We are going to take off this heat shield temporarily, and we are going to lower our exhaust system, too. That way we will have plenty of room to work with to put the head assembly between the two rails. This is the second exhaust bracket we need to lower, too. Once you have the secondary one down you can go ahead and actually pull the exhaust down a little bit out of the way to give you some more working room. Next, go ahead and loosen up the bed on this truck. It gives us a little bit easier working space underneath the vehicle. And once we get all the components installed underneath we can set the bed back in. We are just going to loosen the bed up, put some blocks in it, and maybe raise it 1-1/2 inches or so. Next, we will go ahead and mark off the bed so we know where to drill the hole. What you want to do is find the center rib and measure back on the bed, per the instructions. On our 6-foot bed, in this particular case, it is 47-7/8 inches. So from the back edge of the bed itself you want to mark off 47-7/8 inches and then you want to center it in between the fender wells. It is kind of handy to use these edges of the bed itself. We are looking at 24-1/2 to the center. And what we will do next is go ahead and punch our mark, just enough so we can see a dimple on the bottom side of the pickup, because we will save drilling the hole for one of the last things we need to do. We just loosened the bed and we have got it propped up with these blocks right here. And on the 6-foot bed, it looks like it is a little bit tail heavy, so we have got plenty of space up in front. more

Hide-A-Goose Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2006 Dodge Ram

First thing to do is lower the spare tire. The next step involved is to go ahead and sliding the rails into the bed of the pickup truck. They will fit in between the bed and the frame. What we will do is slide them sideways and once we get them in place we will flip them up to the right side up. We also installed one bolt loosely in the rail because we will use that when we want to attach the head assembly on. The bolt has to be facing this way because once we have it in place we will not be able to tighten it down or get to it very well. Also there are two different lengths as well. The short one goes in the front and long one goes towards the rear. Next we will go ahead, since we have the rails in there, we will flip them up into position. The stickers will tell you which way to go with it. Next step involved is to go ahead and mark the bed so we can drill our hole in the center of the bed. The instructions will tell you exactly what to do, basically you will get a measurement from the rear of the bed to right above the axle and center it left to right. Once you do that, you go ahead and make a punch mark and get ready to drill it out. In this case were going to go ahead and punch it out and drill a small hole just to make sure this is a spray on bed liner. more

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - Ford F-150

The first thing we need to do we need to do is take out the bed liner. Once the liner is removed, the next thing to do is lower the spare tire so you can have access in the area you need to work. The next step is to go ahead and mark your truck bed for drilling. We need to find the center of the bed from left to right which in this case is approximately 50 inches. One thing to look out for when measuring front to rear always start from this edge here near the tailgate and go back to the measurement dictated in your instructions. In case it is 44 and 7/16. After that we make our mark right here and instead of drilling, we are going to make sure theres a dimple underneath and well put our harware underneath first to make sure everything is going to fit like it supposed to before we put a hole in the bed. more

Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2005 GMC Sierra

Today we are going to install part number 9463 our gooseneck head assembly. We will also be installing a rail kit which is part number 4434 for our 2005 GMC Sierra pickup 3500. The first step involved would be to make room for the install kit and rails. What happens is this heat shield needs to be removed. We are going to take it out from this section to this beam here. To make it easier maybe go all the way this far back. But for necessity purposes we need from here to here for the rails. We cut out our heat shield and left an inch or so hanging off. We took a rubber mallet and beat it back and keep it away from the sharp edges as much as possible. Our next step will be to loosen the bed so we can slide the rails underneath the truck. There are 2 options on how you will do this part. more
