Fifth Wheel Hitch Installation - 2002 Ford F-250

Today on this 2002 Ford F-250 we are going to install part number RP30035 from Reese. For the first part of the install we need to locate the rear base rail for the fifth wheel hitch. Our measurement is going to start at the very end of the bed itself, not the tailgate, the end and we are going to measure up as described in the instructions. And then we will go ahead and make our mark. We will do that on both sides so we can make our rails even. :25 more

Fifth Wheel Hitch Installation - 2008 Ford F250 - Video

Fifth Wheel Hitch Installation - 2008 Ford F250

We begin the installation of our fifth wheel trailer hitch by lowering the spare tire on our 2008 Ford 250 Super Duty. Next, we want to loosen the bed bolts to make it easier to install the rails for our fifth wheel hitch. Now we can slide the first rail over the frame and under the truck bed. With first rail in place towards the rear of the truck, we can then slide the second rail into place. Once we have the rails in place across the truck, we insert the bolts to level out the mounting brackets. After the rails are in place and bolts tightened, we retighten the bed bolts to make sure there will be no shifting. This ensures that all of the holes we are going to drill will align properly. Now we mark the holes where we need to drill through the side of the frame at the front and rear of the frame brackets. Before drilling your holes, check the inside of the frame rail on each side of the truck to make sure it is clear of any wiring or lines that run from the front to the back of the truck. more

Fifth Wheel Hitch Kit Installation - 2008 F-250 Super Duty

Today on this 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty we are going to install part number 50060-6008. First thing you want to do is lower the spare tire so you have access to tighten the bolts on the frame brackets. And we can immediately go up the bed and start placing our front rail. What is going to happen is the rail is going to sit in between the fender wells and it is going to place the fifth wheel over the axle. We are going to lay the rail in the bed and then set it in place according to the measurements in the instructions. more

Fifth Wheel Hitch Installation - 2005 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Today on this 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty we are going to install part number 30847-30073 from Reese. There are two ways to get the rails underneath the bed of the truck. What we are going to do is in this case we are going to actually loosen the bed bolts up and pushing that up we will have access. If you can not get the bolts loose then the next best thing you can do is put two cuts into the sheet metal underneath the bed and pry it up out of the way so you can slide the rails in. If we were to cut the bed what we would do is just make a notch here and a notch here and then we just take some vise- grips or some pliers and just pull the sheet metal up and out of our way. Then we can slide the cross member in. Okay we put some spacers between the frame and the bed of the truck just to give us a little extra working room. 00:47 more

Fifth Wheel Base Rail Kit Installation - 2011 Ford F-250

Today on this 2011 Ford F-250 we are going to install part number RP50073-58. There are a few things we need to do to get started. First off we took off the rear wheels that way you can see what is going on a little bit easier and with that ready we will get in the bed of the truck and start marking off for one of the rails for the hitch. We are going to measure from the edge of the bed of the truck itself back to the inside edge of one of the rails. With that part okay we will measure from left to right to make sure it is even. Once you have it the way you want it mark out the holes. 00:34 more

Fifth Wheel Installation - 1999 Ford F-350

Today on this 1999 Ford F-350 super duty, we are going to install part number RP50082. The first thing we need to do is go ahead and lower the spare tire so we have access underneath the vehicle. And then once we have that done, we will go into the bed of the truck and we will start marking out the places for our rails. What we are going to do is measure out from the edge of the bed itself, not the tailgate but the bed, and we are going to measure out and place a mark in the bed as described in the instructions. We are going to do that in two places on both sides. Now we have our mounts in our bed. We will line up our first rail and you are going to want to get them even left to right, using the seam right here works out pretty good. Our custom install kit on the bottom is going to use these two outside holes here. So we will find the center and mark that. Do that on both sides of the rail. Alright, let us move our rail out of the way. We will go ahead and drill a couple 1/8 inch holes. Now we are by the frame of the vehicle on the driver side. Now you do not want to really have to take off the back tires but we did anyway for clarity. One thing we know is that our plate is going to have to sit flat on the frame so that our brake cable here is going to be in the way. So, we are going to move that out of the way. There will be a provision to but that back on later on. 1:12 more

Fifth Wheel Base Rail Kit Installation - 2004 Ford F-150

Today on this 2004 Ford F-150 we are going to install part number RP30080, we are also going to install part number 49080 from Draw-Tite. This is their Pro Series 25K gooseneck plate for fifth wheel rails. The first thing we need to do is get the vehicle up in the air a little bit to lower the suspension so it will be easier to get to the frame and tighten the bolts. We also lowered the spare tire too to give us a little extra room if we need to. The first thing we are going to do is mark our location for our rail that goes towards the back of the bed and we are going to measure from the back edge of the bed itself up to the back edge of the rail as described in the instructions. We are going to take our rail and line it up with those two marks and then you want to even it out left and right. 00:44 more

Fifth Wheel Hitch Kit Installation - 2010 Ford F-150

Today on this 2010 Ford F-150 we are going to install fifth wheel bracket kit part number V55080 from Valley. The first thing we are going to start off with is mounting the bracket to the frame of the vehicle. In this case it does not seem like we have to lower the exhaust or move the spare tire. We will show you where the bracket mounts up to the frame. It is going to be using these two existing holes in the frame and there will be a U-bolt that will be holding everything together up front and it will sit like this on the vehicle. Take it down and install the hardware and put our bracket in place. 00:33 more

Fifth Wheel Hitch Kit Installation - 2000 Ford F-350 Pickup - Video

Fifth Wheel Hitch Kit Installation - 2000 Ford F-350 Pickup

Today on this 2000 Ford F-350 pickup we are going to install part number RP50082-58 from Reese. Also our 22K Reese fifth wheel hitch part number 30033. The first step involves removing the spare tire and take it down temporarily so you have some access to work underneath the vehicle to tighten up the nuts and bolts. The second thing we want to do is go to the driver side of the vehicle and disconnect the the hanger that holds the parking brake cable. That will get reattached to the frame bracket when we install that. This is the back side of the nut that we just took off of the bolt so we will just pull that out of our way. What is going to happen is this is going to get sandwiched between the bracket and the actual frame of the vehicle when we reinstall it. The next thing we are going to do is go to the bed of the truck and we will put the first rail in and mark its location. As you can see here we have got the first rail in the bed of the pickup and what you need to do is measure from the edge that we see facing us towards the edge of the bed itself. Then we want to make sure we have the rail even left to right. 01:06 more
