Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit Installation - 2010 Honda Fit - Video
Today on this 2010 Honda Fit we are going to install a Roadmaster EZ Base Plate kit part number 521190-1 from Roadmaster. The first thing we need to do is take off the front bumper cover itself. It requires removing a bunch of fasteners on top of the grill, and a bunch of fasteners at the very bottom of the fascia underneath the vehicle. We will do the leading one on the edge right here. We will start popping them out with a screw driver first and use a rivet tool to pull out the rest, and work our way around. :33 more

Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit Installation - 2006 Jeep Liberty - Video
Today, on this 2006 Jeep Liberty, we are going to install part number 521423-1 from Roadmaster. What is going to happen is these base plates mount to the frame of the vehicle and allows the vehicle to be towed behind. The mounts will be approximately right in this area, right here. So to get started we are going to have to remove the bumper cover and the grille. We will go ahead and start off by taking the bolts off the lower part of the fascia here so we can get that loose. We have the bottom part of the fascia loose now. Now let us go to the top and start working on the grille and work our way down to take the fascia off. Alright, next we will go ahead and start taking off the grille. There is basically, on this model, there is a series of snaps that hold the grille in place. So we will undo these first. Next what we are going to do is continue with the bumper cover here and remove this bolt here and here. Next we will go ahead and remove the plastic rivets that go to the fender liner here, one here and one here. Repeat the same process back over on the passenger side. Alright, getting back underneath, there are two more plastic rivets that we need to take out here and here. With the fender wheel liner pulled back a little bit, and then push in. There is a little snap right here. And then pull down. 1:20 more

Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2006 Jeep Liberty - Video
Today on this 2006 Jeep Liberty we are going to install part number RM-154 from Roadmaster. What this does is allows us to wire up the vehicle so that it can be towed behind an RV. The first step is to route the wire from the front to rear and the wire harness comes with two truck ends on the wiring harness itself. We are just going to cut off one end of it, leave about a foot or so on there in case we need to use it again or in case the original one gets worn out. This 4-pole is going to stay at the front and basically you can think about it as like wiring up a utility trailer. This is going to stay in the front and the car is going to become a trailer at this point. We are going to run our wire between the plastic up in here towards the center as close as possible because in the future a face plate will get installed in that general area. Thread that on through until we come out the other side and we are going to route it all the way back and stay away from the suspension components and we are actually going to run it through the frame. 01:00 more

Roadmaster Stowmaster Review - Video
Today we are going to be showing you part number RM-501, the Roadmaster Stowmaster car mounted tow bar weighted at 6,000 pounds. The tow bar centers and locks itself as you drive ahead. That is a 6,000 pound capacity. The tow bar itself weighs 48 pounds, however this will not work with the MX series base plates. We are going to go ahead and show you some of the distinct features about this 48 pound tow bar. The tow bar gets attached to your vehicle using these brackets here and you can see they actually offer a wide range of movement as you are driving on down the road. These are the locking bars here and back here is the coupler mount which will be hooking up to your ball mount. Before we put this on we are going to show you how this folds up. As you see here this is bar that hooks up to the car. Turning this around you can see that this is locking it up to make sure that it does not move. You simply just turn like so and it folds up to a nice neat little area here. It defiantly makes it much more easy for storage. more

Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 Tow Bar Review - Video
Today we are going to show you part number RM-422 from Roadmaster. What we have here is the Roadmaster, 10,000 pound all terrain Black hawk 2 tow bar. What you get with this part number is a quick disconnect base and the tow bar it self. This is the Roadmaster non binding tow bar which is really nice which means you do not have to have your car and RV in a straight line to line them up. Basically you get them as close as possible and tow bar is flexible enough to where you can hook up your bass to the tow bar. Then just pull forward and after a little bit of left and right turning it locks into place. Also what is nice about this tow bar is that the extra flexibility going down the road. You have the flexibility here of the draw bar going into the hitch. It can turn left or right and has the flexibility to go up and down also. Another nice feature is these guide bars on the sides. For your electrical cables and your safety cables too. Next we will install it on a hitch and we will show you the flexibility of the base plate and tow bar. In our mock up here we have it going to a 2 inch receiver which obviously would be hooked on the back of your RV but we do not have an RV to demonstrate this at this time. We will show you the basic configurations. more

Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter Demonstration - Video
This is a taillight adapter which will convert your two wire system on your towing vehicle up to a three wire system to your towed vehicle. Certain applications will be say, your RV has a four wire system on it or maybe a five wire system converted down to a four wire but your towed vehicle has separate turns signals and brake lights. You would use this box to convert it back up to that at the rear of the vehicle. Well cover a few technical points on how it actually gets installed. Well show you how it typically gets installed, the nuts and bolts of it. Its a little bit easier than you think. Basically were going to use this four pole wire harness as a model here, this is going to be the lead thats going up to the RV or towing vehicle. What happens is you have the four wires obviously, the ground, running lights, and turn signals. more

Tow Bar Wiring Diode Installation - 2011 Jeep Liberty - Video
Today on this 2011 Jeep Liberty, we are going to install part number 48955. First off, what we are going to do for our wire harness is find a spot where we are going to locate the 4-pole end. And you can do it anywhere you want. We are going to actually run it to the center on this vehicle right here for now. Put it over this pin. And then we will go ahead and start routing our cable from the front of the vehicle all of the way back. Just stay away from anything moving, like the suspension components, or anything hot, like the exhaust. OK, we will take our ground wire with the ring terminal and we will run it straight to the frame. We will go ahead and show you how we routed our wire. Above the sub-frame there is a piece of tubing that goes all of the way across the suspension. So we actually thread it through from the front to the rear. It is actually easier to see from the back side right here. And then we were able to run it through the frame, using the wire pull. We were able to go all of the way out to the back of the vehicle. We were also able to route it through the back cross member. Our green and brown wires go over to the passenger side of our vehicle. And our yellow and brown wires will go over to the driver side. 1:02 more

Today on this 2007 Chevrolet Malibu we are going to install part number 523120-1 from Roadmaster, the EZ Base Plate Kit. The first thing we need to do is open up the hood and get some fasteners so we can take off the front bumper cover. There will be some fasteners on the top and the bottom. With the rivets we just have to unscrew the top part of them and we will pop up the bottom half. When it does not unscrew very easily, pull up on the plastic a little to bind it up and that might help back out the screw. Now we are underneath the vehicle starting over on the driver side. We are going to take out these 7 millimeter fasteners and work our way all the way around the edge of the bumper. There is also four plastic rivets we need to remove along the way too. Lets remove this plastic part here with these two rivets and then we will go back to the original rivets we were going to take out before. Now that you can see the plastic rivets remove these four too. Next we are going to remove these two little panels right here, these little rivets and that will give us a more room to take off the bumper cover easier. 01:38 more

Tail Light Isolating Diode System Demonstration - Video
This part is for a vehicle to vehicle towing kit. Well start by showing you the different components of this kit, its really pretty simple if you break it down. First the connection here is a traditional four pole flat. So you have your four basic signals, your ground, running lights, left turn and right turn. You also have plenty of harness to attach this on the towed vehicle. When you make your connections on the towed vehicle itself, you have to install these diodes here. At the point where you make your connections on your vehicle whether it be your left or right turn or the running light circuit you will have to install these diodes. more

And we are just going to chop off one end and run that to the back. OK, we are going to start off by attaching our wire to the base plate of the vehicle itself. And we will allow for some extra length there in case we want to change over to a different type of connector. Go ahead and zip-tie that off and then work it towards the back of the vehicle. When we run it to the back we want to make sure that we stay away from anything moving like the suspension or anything that gets hot like the exhaust. This is a self-threading bolt. It may be slightly difficult to get started but once you do it gets much easier. Our bracket is mounted. I am going to zip-tie my front connector off to it and begin the routing of my wire to the rear of the vehicle. You can see our wire coming up over the axle now. We are going to use these two rear mounting holes. We are going to zip-tie off the rear leader going to our taillights. Now that we have our wire feed run to the rear of the vehicle, what we need to do is remove the taillight lenses in order to splice our wire in. The first step is going to be open the rear hatch of the vehicle and remove the ports bit screws so that we can remove the lenses. Alright, now that we have our screws removed, we can pop our taillight lens out. I even like to go ahead and disconnect my hold-down and then go ahead and disconnect the harness so I can set the taillight lens out of the way.
