Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Kia Sedona - Video

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Kia Sedona

Today were going to show you a popular upgrade. We have here a four pole flat that has been installed on a vehicle. The owner has a boat trailer now and it has a five wire flat. So were going to convert that four wire to a five wire flat. We will show you how to deal with part number 20036 which is the adapter itself, and the bracket which is part number 20046. Our first step we need to do is take off the four pole and then well uninstall the bracket and put in the new bracket. It may take some force, but you have to pull to get this out of here. We actually used a rubber mallet to tap it a little bit, now this bracket can come off which we have previously loosened up. Now well install our new bracket and it will go in the same spot as before. What were going to do next is get our four pole ready which we have cleaned out with WD-40 and then were going to put in some dielectric grease. Well put that inside here and then were going to attach our four pole from our adapter inside there. more

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118371 on a 2000 Kia Sportage. All right, we are inside the rear of the vehicle here, and we are going to go ahead and locate the plug-ins for the wiring harness. As you can see, looking at the drivers side, we have got this compartment, and the wiring harness is actually located directly behind there on both sides of the vehicle. We can go ahead and remove the door cover. And, as you can see, the wiring harness is connected to the back of the tail light assembly here. So what we can do is go ahead and unplug it. There is a little push button here right at the bottom and it pulls straight out. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Kia Sorrento

Today we are going to install part number 118307 on our Kia Sorrento, 2005 model. And we will show you how it plugs in. To install the part, it is a pretty simple device. There is an actual port for a towing package on the passengers side frame rail, right here. And all you have got to do, basically, is just pull off the cap. Push in this little button in and the cap comes out, and the T-1 connector actually just plugs right back in there. And at this point, you just route the T-1 however you want. Tie off the converter box in a safe location, and then just run your wires out to your hitch. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Kia Sedona

Today on this 2010 Kia Sedona we are going to install part number 118410 from Tow Ready. OK, this is our T-one wiring harness. Now the first thing we need to do is open up that back hatch. We will start off on the driver side. It looks like there are three screws we need to remove. When you pull the light off, you have to pull it in the general direction away from the vehicle at an angle, like this. Alright, we will go ahead and disconnect the taillight right here. Push down that center tab and it comes apart. Set that aside for now. We will go over to the passenger side and do the same thing. Next we will go ahead and take the 4-pole itself and just it into the cavity between the body and the bumper cover and pull it out the bottom. Then we will take the one half of the T-connector with the red and green wires and that through as well. 1:00 more

We are going to remove both the passenger side here now and then I am going to go over to the driver side and remove it. Now that we have our taillight cover removed on the driver side, what I want to do is remove the rear trim panel across the back. I am going to go ahead and remove the driver side rear corner trim. The red wire is going to be for our brake. The yellow wire is going to be for our left turn signal. The brown wire is going to be for our running lights. And our white wire is going to be for our ground. 0:57 more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Kia Sportage

Today on this 2008 Kia Sportage we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118401. This wiring harness is very easy to use. It is a simple plug in and there is an open ended port on the Sportage that our harness is going to plug into. If we go underneath the vehicle right near the bumper over on the passenger side you can see we have got our wiring harness with two plugs at the end of it here. The one taped on the top is the one we are looking for. This is the one we are going to be plugging our wiring harness into. Cut back the tape that is holding the two together. This does have a cap on it so remove that. There is a tab on top that if you press that in, you can pull the cap right off. 00:45 more

Today we are going to install part number 118307 from Tow Ready, and we are going to install this T-1 connector on a 2006 Kia Sorento. We are also going to be using part number 118144, 4-pole bracket, as part of this install. First we will install our bracket, and we will just install a couple of simple screws that come with the package. And then we will install our T-1 connector 4-pole harness into that. All right, the Sorento already has a port installed from the factory, so it is a simple matter of plugging the T-1 harness into this port right here. So you push down this button on top, and then take a screwdriver to catch the edge of it. It helps kind of get it started where you can pull it out. more

We are also going to need to remove this middle threshold piece and also pull back some of the felt liner on both sides.
