Today we are going to install part number 18172 from Tow Ready. It is a 4-pole wiring harness. This is the part that gets hard-wired into the vehicle. And we are going to install this on a 2005 GMC Safari. To wire up this vehicle what we are going to have to do is get behind the tail light - get behind both tail lights. What is going to happen here on the passengers side here - we are going to take it off, and then we are going to run our wires down to the bottom of the vehicle. So we will go ahead here and start taking off the tail lights at this point. more

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118301 on a 2007 GMC Canyon. All right, we are underneath the vehicle now, and we have removed the spare tire to gain a little more access. Over here on the drivers side frame rail, we are at the rear end, where the first crossmember meets the frame, you can see the plug-in right here. And that is the plug that we are going to be using to plug our T-harness into. To disconnect the harness, we just want to depress the button here and pull them apart. And then we simply want to take our T-connector and plug it in line. You want to push it in until you hear the click. more

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118451 on a 2008 GMC Acadia. OK, we are here at the back side of the vehicle and the attaching points for our wiring harness are actually located directly behind the tail light assemblies themselves on both sides of the vehicle. So the first thing we want to do is to go ahead and remove them. There are two black caps on each one of the assemblies. You need to pop those back, and that will give us access to the fasteners that are holding the tail light assembly on. We are going to remove those fasteners and pull the tail light assembly off to gain access to the connectors themselves. We just take a little flatheaded screwdriver and pop that right back. And as you can see, there is a regular hex head screw in there. And you want to be careful when you are doing that to make sure you do not break the locking tabs. And we are just going to take a little 7-millimeter socket here and remove the bolts. With both screws removed, we want to go ahead and gently pry away the tail light assembly. There are two aligning tabs here on the back side. You want to make sure that those do not break. You just want to gently kind of wiggle it back and forth until they release. more

Today we are going to install a 4-pole and 7-pole connector by Hoppy, part number 30955, on a 2006 GMC Sierra. This wiring connector that we are installing goes right into the factory connector. So I would start with lowering the spare tire for good visibility. You are going to want to take the existing wiring down so you can use this excess slack to run it to the bumper so you can mount the connector. Once you get the wiring harness taken down and the cap pulled off, then you are going to need to mount your mounting bracket to the bumper. Once you find a good location, mount the bracket with the self-tapping screws. more

We are going to go ahead and install part number 18002. Which is the Draw Tight 4 pole flat onto this 1998 GMC Jimmy. Right now we are underneath the vehicle. We have already put the hitch on here. As far as the wiring goes about 90 percent of the Chevy Blazers and GMC Jimmys have the tow package on them. It is that bundle of wires that attached to the backside of the bumper with zip tie. Those are all the wires we are going to need to attach the 4 pole too. So what we are going to do is go ahead and clip the zip tie here. Then release these wires and as you can see they give you a substantial amount of lead. Again the 4 pole flat connector we will be using is made by Draw Tight and is part number 18002. more
