Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Ford Escape - Video

Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Ford Escape

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 30130 for a 2006 Ford Escape. The attachment points for the wiring harness are going to be located behind the taillight assemblies, so the first thing we are going to do is to remove the taillight assemblies from the vehicle. That is going to require removing the two screws here on the inboard side. You want to be careful when removing the taillight assembly to make sure you do not break any of the locking tabs that are inside. You want to go ahead and do that on both sides of the vehicle. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2005-07 Ford Escape Hybrid - Video

Wiring Harness Installation - 2005-07 Ford Escape Hybrid

Next we are going to do the install of the wiring for our 2007 Hybrid Escape. We are going to utilize part number 118187, it is the Modulite Trailer Light Power Module. The reason for why we are using a power converter, basically, is the electronics in the vehicle are pretty sensitive. In fact, there is only just enough power to run lights in the vehicle. And basically, what this module does is it attaches to the harness and the green wire will end up being spliced to the right hand side. And this wire assembly here will be spliced on the driver side. And this black wire right here will be ran up front to the battery. The reason for the battery is is that basically this box, what it will do is copy the signal coming off of the vehicle and then send it to your trailer using the battery power. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 1994 Ford F150 - Video

Wiring Harness Installation - 1994 Ford F150

Today we are going to install part number 118316 from Tow Ready, and this is a T-1 connector we are going to install on a 1994 Ford pickup. This is the point in the harness that we need to split apart and attach our T connector. It is right behind the bumper on the drivers side. There is a little button you push down. It is kind of hard to see on the end. You push it down and it comes apart. And you just reinstall the T connector in the middle of it and then make sure you clip it back together. And it might be a good idea to go ahead and use a zip tie to tie it off somewhere, and that is pretty much all there is to it. Just route your 4-pole wire where you want it along the frame and out by the hitch. Just zip tie it to secure it to the frame and keep it from bouncing around. Then we can route our wire out to the hitch. We will just put it by the chain loop here. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Ford Mustang - Video

Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Ford Mustang

What we have here is a 4 pole flat car end, 16 inches long and includes 4 wiring caps. This is going to be installed on a 2005 Ford Mustang. We need to get the access to the wiring. So the first thing we need to do is take out this bottom tray or carpeting here. You have to take off this back panel here to get access to the wiring. Once that is out of the way we can start taking these fasteners off this back panel here and then take it off to get to the wiring. This is the wiring harness that is actually going to the tail light lens. So what we need to do is strip away our wires here so we can figure out which wire is our turn signal or running light. Since we have to hardwire this, we have to test to see what wire does what. So basically we will just use our ground tester to the existing ground on the body. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Ford E350 Van - Video

Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Ford E350 Van

Theres no market product that will plug into the factory tow harness, so well have to make our own and splice into it. The tow harness is about two or three feet on the frame rail on the drivers side so what well do is take this and extend it down out to the frame rail to match up to it. Today were only going to worry about four pole end, were not going to install the brakes or the hot lead. Were going to install this on the factory ground on the frame more

Wiring Harness Installation - 1996 Ford Explorer - Video

Wiring Harness Installation - 1996 Ford Explorer

Today we are going to install part number 118241 from Tow Ready on our 1996 Ford Explorer. This one has a tow package on the vehicle and we will show you how to identify it. On our 1996 model here we have the actual tow package is located right here. It is pretty handy it basically plugs in and you are ready to go. However some other models it could be under one of the tail lights. It should be on either the left or right side. On those models they usually have the plug sometimes on both sides. One of them is active and one of them is not. This is about here sometimes you will find this plug also it could be here or it could be on the driver side. Simply plug it in then route the harness the way you want on the way to the opposite side. We will use zip ties to hold everything in place. There you have it for part number 118241 from Tow Ready. Install on our 1996 Ford Explorer. more

Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Ford Escape - Video

Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Ford Escape

Today we are going to install part number 40455 from Hoppe. We are going to install this on a 2005 Ford Escape. This particular vehicle has a tow package. Not all vehicles come with a tow package but this one does so we will show you what to look for if yours does. To find the Tow Package port it is on this bracket facing the inside of the bumper. It is a pain to see so you have to kinda feel around for it while looking for it. You pull it loose then remove this little cap here. Then our part comes with a little bit of dielectric grease. Go ahead and squirt some of that on the plug. It will not take much just put a little bit on. Then you can press it back together. Then the rest of this will go out to your hitch. At that point take your excess wire and zip tie it to whatever you can behind the bumper. Leave what you need out for your trailer hitch. I like to leave it right by the chain here and zip tie it behind this bracket here. That way if you ever need excess it will be easy to get too. more
